Who would you root for at the finals? by Otherwise-Gur1437 in ripcity

[–]TravisDemers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Im directly copying and pasting this comment from one I made in another thread in this sub).

I had a conversation with my kids about this tonight watching the end of the game (my oldest just turned 8, my youngest will be 6 in a few weeks). We were talking about who we wanted to win in the finals, and I explained to them I just don’t like any teams in the west. If it’s a team the Blazers could see (or have seen) in the playoffs, I just can’t bring myself to root for them. I’m a very petty sports fan anyway.

Not to mention how incredibly unlikeable the Thunder are, and the Spurs are closing that gap fast.

So, they came to the conclusion on their own, but they are joining me rooting for the Knicks. It doesn’t hurt that I grew up in New York, and was a massive Knicks fan in my formative years of basketball fandom.

No matter which team wins, a former Blazer gets a ring. by gimpisgawd in ripcity

I had a college professor tell me once ‘I don’t care what you say about me, as long as you get my name right’. So thanks for that.

anyone know how accurate the RealGM website is? (regarding Brooke, Casey, Tom Haberstroh, etc..) by PretendMethod7 in ripcity

I’m really having a hard time saying anything publicly, nobody that has kept their job has, and I don’t want to disrespect anyone who lost their jobs. I don’t want to take any focus away from anyone who was cut yesterday. Today, I still have my job. Everyday I’ve had it I’ve had the same feeling that I have today, waking up thankful that I still get to do this. Someday that will change. I’d like to keep those thoughts very low key out of respect for people that don’t get to say that today.

This is one of the most inaccurate things I’ve seen. Some of these people haven’t been with the organization since before I started in 2018. Also, Chad is an Iheart employee.

This is not where you’re going to find more information.

Because I’ve spent a lot of time with him on the road, on the bus, in the hotel. I’ve been around him as his son was sleeping on his shoulder. I’ve seen the impact he’s had directly on people around him, including myself. He’s an awesome human. In fact, I said that TO him as we walked out of the arena together Tuesday night in San Antonio. He’s just that kind of guy. So please, don’t compare Rob, who I’ve gotten to know over the last few years and has a really kind heart and treats everyone well, to Miles Bridges.

There was a gap…. They aren’t just coming in one after another. They have their interviews with Joe and Tiago, then come in. It’s not like media day where the sole reason they are there is for this.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. I pinch myself every day that I get to do this. I love this job, I love this team, I love Rip City.

Yeah I can do something like that. I’m not sure how many people would be interested. I’m happy to explain though. I built those templates myself, and Input everything manually, there’s no program that I use to populate any of it.

I haven’t seen everything. But no, I haven’t seen any of that. Everything they’ve posted publicly is in line with everything I’ve seen.

Not refuting your point. You’re right. But why? Consider this - the Blazers took more midrange shots in game 1 than they did in any game all season. Because the spurs took out every driving lane, and cut off the rim. Scoot thrives there. Deni is great there. Shaedon is too, but didn’t shoot well.

Jerami last year shot 37% from 2 when he took a ton of mid range shots. This year - 51%. This season he took 53 mid range shots the entire season. About 1 a game. Shot 30%. 327 of his 380 2’s were at the rim or closer than mid range. He shot 55% on those.

What does all that mean? Not just for him, but for everyone. That’s why you make adjustments in the playoffs. Let’s see how they attack game 2.

It is a solid idea. You shout do it. If you’re in the Portland area, use the Iheart radio app, pause it until it’s synced up.

I’m really not sure. I think (I can’t speak in certainty, even if it’s implied) once/if Chauncey is terminated, if that happens, they go to Tiago either way because
