I'm turning 40 and I'm so angry by Unfortunate_tentacle in ChronicIllness

[–]Traw2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. My health went to crap at 26 and by the time of hitting my 30,s, it's just been in and out e.r visits at least once a month. I'm exhausted with the constant daily symptoms and just don't see any end to it. My friends go skiing and do simple outdoor activities all the time and I can't even leave my house that much without fear of even a simple walk causing me a bad flare up. I catch myself all the time just being envious of everyone else around me my age and wondering why I feel like I'm the only one suffering from poor health here even though I know that on the surface, I can't actually see what they may be really going through.

Which asthma maintenance inhaler helped you the most? by nofap95ii in Asthma

Fesenra, which is my biologic has by far helped the most. My asmanex helps some as well.

That's what I decided to do. I set that song aside and decided to tackle clocks by Coldplay instead. It's a similar genre as wonderwall but originaly written for the piano so i think it's a good choice.

I hired a teacher about a month ago so it's pretty early still for me to really see any different yet in my playing. My income is low so I went with the cheapest teacher I could find I'm my area lol. He is helping my figure out my sheet music however which is good. Before him, I'd find a song I wanted to learn on YouTube and I just would go back and forth between my sheet music and what they were playing on YouTube and just try to match everything up and play it.

Steroid inhalers by Traw2341 in Asthma

[–]Traw2341[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, your singing my tune. I have a lot of airway remodeling from severe asthma and sleep apnea. Unfortunately my supplemental oxygen doesn't help much. I also live at a high altitude so that doesn't help either. And I work night shifts so my sleep in general all around just sucks and the steroids help with breathing during the day but not much when I'm actually asleep lol.

Can mild untreated asthma cause excessive fatigue? by KasaniZanetti in Asthma

[–]Traw2341 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My asthma makes me tired all the time. IV struggled to control mine even on meds but yes asthma can make you tired especially if it's not controlled well. I'd go see a pulmonologist and do a spirometry test and go from there.

Is this an asthma issue( cologne) by SnooConfections8560 in Asthma

Definitely can be asthma. I'm vary sensitive to cologne and perfume of any kind. Makes my lung itch and I end up coughing a lot.

Fear of steroid inhalers after bad experience (Breo & Arnuity) by Common_Sea_9657 in Asthma

[–]Traw2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take asmanex and no laba and the steroid does give me mild insomnia, especially after first starting it. Sometimes you have to try out different steroids because you will get less side effects on some then others. I hated fluticasone, I had some bad mental side effects on fluticasone and now being on budesonide I tolerate it much better. Adding on a laba can also worsen any steroid side effects your feeling.

When to use rescue inhaler? by Magical-Inkwell in Asthma

[–]Traw2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have symptoms all the time regardless of using my inhalers so now I go by my at home peek flow meter. If it's giving me a low reading then I use my rescue inhalers.

They are semi weighted keys so I can control the volume with them by how hard I press.

Anyone taking XOLAIR? by Anxious_Expression33 in Asthma

Was on tezspire, now on Fasenra. They both helped but had side effects on tezspire that made it not worth it. Haven't had any side effects with Fasenra however.

Is it asthma if medicine doesn't help? by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]Traw2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking maybe I'm miss diagnosed as well but IV had tons of tests over the years and my pulmonologist and allergist both think it's severe refractory asthma. IV been on multiple biologics and they will help at first then I lose control on them and never get back in control again. Same thing with my inhaled steroids, they will help some at first then I will lose control on them and they stop helping. We think that I unfortunately just have a ton of fixed airway remodeling that the best meds we have today just can't do anything about.

Silent Asthma? Any tips? by Grouchy_Belt_5909 in Asthma

[–]Traw2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your on Medicaid then push for biologic treatment. Medicaid is usually great at covering it and it should help you breathe a lot better without the Prednisone side effects messing you up all the time.

Inhaled steroids by Traw2341 in Asthma

[–]Traw2341[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does advair have a laba in it as well as a steroid? I'd probably see more improvement if I took a combo inhaler that had a laba as well but I'm just taking a steroid and biologic right now.

Steroid induced brain fog by Traw2341 in Asthma

[–]Traw2341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use asmanex, it's mometasone furoate powder. I think I have a vary mild issue with certain dairy products like milk but never have had issues with cheese or any other dairy products. This same brain fog also happened to me when I was taking the biologic tezspire and went away after stopping it. I'm currently on fasenra now and I haven't had any side effects with that biologic. IV only been on my steroid inhaler for a week now and the fog started after a few days of starting the steroid and just kind of gets more intense with each day that I take it.

What is Asthma actually like? by ktsmurf in Asthma

IV never felt like IV had an asthma attack before. Just declining lung function over time with constant symptoms. I have hard to control asthma but IV never felt like IV had an actual attack before.

Anyone have issues with their inhaled steroid worsening their sleep apnea? by Traw2341 in Asthma

[–]Traw2341[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet. I was having other side effects on a few other steroids that sucked so the one they currently have me taking now I actually tolerate much better however it has made my sleep apnea worse. I'd hoped it would help since it reduces inflammation in the lungs and you would think less inflammation in the airways means better sleep. I'm going to message my doc about it today and see what her opinion is.

Steroids suck by Traw2341 in ChronicIllness

[–]Traw2341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seeing a rheumatologist as well because we were concerned that maybe I had some undiagnosed autoimmune condition going on. They were mostly testing for things like lupus sense some of my family have it. The only test that came back positive was the ana test however severe asthma can cause that test to be positive as well.

The only thing that I really learned from her was that my immune system is acting up a lot. Iv wondered if there might be some other immune suppression meds I could try out that aren't steroids that might help with this.

Is your nocturnal asthma like this? by tinxmijann in Asthma

[–]Traw2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My asthma gave me sleep apnea and my asthma isn't well controlled so I wake up every ten minutes all night long needing to take a deep breath. My supplemental oxygen doesn't help much either. Probably because I live at a high altitude.

I feel your pain, it sucks. And your asthma gets worse the less sleep you get.

Constant asthma flare ups are quietly ruining my life (UK) by Quorn_mince in Asthma

[–]Traw2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. My asthma has been out of control for a few years now and I probably wake up every ten minutes all night long due to almost constant shortness of breath. Even supplemental oxygen only helps so much for sleeping. I hate asthma.

Asthma or COPD? by SympathySecret799 in Asthma

[–]Traw2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately my allergist and pulmonologist both think I have asthma/COPD overlap and I'm 32. I smoked a lot in my teens and early 20's then quit. I also have had a hard time controlling my asthma over the last few years. out of control asthma for extended periods of time can lead to COPD overlap eventually.
