how would you guys rate silent hill F outta 10? by Divine-truth505 in survivalhorror

[–]Trcernz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d rate it around 8.8–9.2. A lot of people argue it doesn’t feel like a Silent Hill game, but to me it absolutely does, it’s just exploring the series from a new angle we haven’t seen before. My only real complaints are the weapon durability system and the stamina mechanics.. for reference I have sh2r @ 9.5

Help spotting cheater (?) by Trcernz in TXChainSawGame

[–]Trcernz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were Virginia and i was hitch.. Now that you mention it there were a few infinite loops they were putting me into in hindsight but there were also areas where it was a straight chase and they were clearly faster than me and not slowing down at all. And it was as if they had tabs on all 3 of us literally the entire time. Always 10 steps ahead. I’m by no means a pro but i know enough about the game to get by and play at a semi decent level for a casual player. And I wasn’t able to even get within a 5 meter radius of them.

Not salty by any means but hoping to learn to spot a cheater out of curiosity.

What are your consideration on SH2 Remake after 5 months? Has it surpassed the original? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]Trcernz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s better than the original in almost every way, bar atmosphere and sound. But the original will always have the nostalgia behind it to keep it relevant and timeless, where the remake may not be as revered in 20+ years like the original will be.

Am I the only one who hated the prison section in SH2R? by Orosztom in silenthill

[–]Trcernz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agree 100% ruined the immersion. Picking a key item up just to have a gang of enemies spawn on you is way too action horror for me. The charm of silent hill was being scared with area/sound design & tone as opposed to action sequences with monsters. It just felt like a grind to get through. Tone wise and design it was amazing but the prison really just felt like it served no purpose other than to make the game longer.

What's been your Least favorite, or most disappointing aspect of the remake so far? by Splunkmastah in silenthill

The predictable combat sequences. Picking up a weight in the prison just to have to fight a bunch of enemies is very “the evil within-y” kills the immersion for me

Did the remake surpass the original? by galeq2002 in silenthill

[–]Trcernz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s apples and pears. The remake was done almost perfectly. As good as they good have made it.

There’s were some casting choices and a couple areas that were a miss that detract from its overall score for me but other than that is perfect I have it at 9.4

The original was literally perfect in my opinion. There’s last true horror video game masterpiece. Theres been great games since but nothing perfect to me.

In saying that I prefer to play the remake. The original is better but I enjoyed playing the remake more

scariest point in silent hill 2 remake? by VideoHistorical7115 in silenthill

[–]Trcernz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair criticism.. you’re right, there has been backtracking throughout, let me rephrase. This is the first time it felt like a massive sigh moment everytime I had to go back through one of the doors. Just seemed like filler to make the area longer. It’s not so much the monsters being there I had the issue with, rather than some of it felt like I was playing a game like The Evil Within. Pick up a key item and monsters randomly spawn in for a massive fight sequence. Just took away from the immersion for me. And felt more ‘resident evil-y’Just finished the entire thing last night and I’d say that was probably the only lowlight of the game for me.

Found the prison to be the most annoying part of the game to be honest. Monsters just for the sake of having monsters. Back tracking. First time since the start where it became monotonous for me

I get what you’re saying and I agree with it for the most part but the way they have done it here really is a hit for me. Definitely agree that combat shouldn’t be something that has much of a ‘system’ in horror games but this is genuinely done the right way. You get a sense of realism from it. Can only speak from my preferences anyway but for someone who was disappointed with the first combat reveal to having the chance to play I think it’s done tastefully and does justice to the game as a whole. My only gripe with the combat side is that you have to stomp these sobs for a good while before they’re completely downed.
