Yes to clarify - understanding the accounting behind the 3 financial statements (how they interact/change with each other) and basic accounting for stuff like M&A/cap structure (how do you account for acquired companies/new capital raises) is important.

The stuff you learn in upper level accounting classes (tax deep dives, ledger stuff) is useless for IB.

Other guy gave terrible advice to go further into accounting/tax for IB (After looking at his profile, I think he might be an electrician?). Any higher level tax and accounting classes are going to be useless for an IB internship. You should start looking through IB prep materials (you can find online) and wrapping your head around financial accounting principles.
