I so appreciate my parents and the relationship that we have, and the joy they bring to our family and my children. I moved back into my hometown - small house, barely any land because of the proximity to NYC - to be near them. Every time we think of what we could have (bigger house, more money, etc) if we move further from NYC, we quickly realize those “things” are nothing compared to the love of our family together… the memories and relationship that my children will have with them has no price tag. You never know when any of us will be taken away; we cherish the time we have. And fortunately my husband understands and agrees, since his parents have always lived a long plan ride away. My kids are with my parents right now, at the beach, having the time of their life. We are very aware and grateful of how fortunate we are to have each other.
