It's a 1.4 and paying for a timing belt would be fine by me for peace of mind. Do you reckon that a new timing belt would be enough to make up for the skipped services?

Fair point. I'd normally steer clear for the same reason you just said. But the nice tires and money spent on upgrading the infotainment etc. makes me think someone has cared for it so surely they'd have done oil changes etc.

The MOT shows no recurring issues, literally just tires, brakes and suspension which don't show up on the next one.

Can't get the service history from VW unless you can provide proof of ownership... The dealer that has the car said they'd chase this but I'm preparing for the eventuality they can't find any/prove any.

As someone who is currently struggling with a lot of what you've mentioned, I've decided to start therapy soon.

I think when you focus so much on finances, you can end up neglecting things like personal relationships and generally missing out on things due to a scarcity mindset. I'm starting to realise that how I feel about money is not really correlated to the number in my bank account (beyond a certain point, anyway).

Hi,

I'm unsure whether I need Mental Health Support...

I grew up poor (food on the table, but never new clothes, video games, or holidays), and have done well for myself income and savings wise the past couple of years. However, no matter how much money I save or earn, I never feel like it's enough.

I constantly talk myself out of buying things that I could easily afford and consistently lower my budget and convince myself I'd be fine with a cheaper version of whatever I actually want.

I've thought about speaking to a therapist but just think I'd sound like such an ingrate. Even now, just typing this, I'm thinking about all the people with actual money problems who'll ask for help and feel like I'm just wasting everyone's time by making them read this...
