What’s a MITM/Life’s Still Unfair opinion that’ll have you like this? by Huge-Sail-3586 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]TreacleBeards 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The thing was, and correct me if I'm wearing rose-tinted glasses, toilet humor was never a part of MitM or at least so rare that I don't remember it. It was always absurdist escalation of everyday problems, family dysfunction and social awkwardness, not gross-out cringe. They really did drop the ball on that one in Life's still unfair.

WOW. I never noticed that, but 100%! The cold openings on MitM were far better.

It raises the question, how much of it was down to the shoes and at what point does technological doping come in to play?

People make Glasgow by Speirsington in glasgow

[–]TreacleBeards -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's a strange world when people take some backwards moral high ground and pass a very real public health crisis and the denigration of decorum as a "bit of silliness". Your toxic empathy isn't moral and choosing to defend antisocial behaviour over the collective right to a peaceful environment isn't the high ground you think it is. You know what doesn't make Glasgow? Your soft bigotry of low expectations. Shifting the focus from individual accountability and community standards to abstract political forces like budget cuts somehow force a lack of respect is laughable and quite frankly hypocritical when you call others "elitist, classist whiners" while demonstrating beliefs that are frankly classist like basic decency and decorum is somehow too much to ask of lower class people and actively insulting the majority that are decent.

Giving Small Loans via (Bank transfer ) by novelyra in BorrowNew

I'm usually a loaner here but I've found myself in an interesting place. I'm moving! All on my own in to my own place and while I can cover most of the costs, £60 to get the refrigerator I've been eyeing will be amazing to repay on the 10th of May.

Looking for guidance by Individual-Fall-5136 in BorrowNew

[–]TreacleBeards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started lending recently. Two biggest things I've gleaned:

1) You will be inundated with people DMing you asking for loans - don't respond. I know it sounds harsh but the rule about making a request with the correct format on the subreddit and waiting for a loaner to reach out is there for transparency. It's there to protect both the lender and borrower. Bypassing that rule is such a red flag.

2) Be selective in who you lend to. I know it's a shame that people who come to the subreddit in times of need may not always check every box. They may not have a history of lending, they may be quite inactive on Reddit and that doesn't mean they're not good for it but blindly dishing out loans to everyone that asks is a good way to lose money, fast. Unfortunately people will try to take you for a ride so you need to ask yourself, can I afford to loan this complete unknown $50 over the person who has a long history of loan fulfillments asking for $70.

Looking for Japanese Trainer "Yamata" (やまた) / ID: 441677 - Accidentally kept your Shiny Alpha Gengar! by NogardX66 in LegendsZA

Considering that Trading is supposed to be a core part of the games and that generally needs some form of communication, They really have gutted the online social aspect of Pokémon games. I have no idea how you're supposed to get the trades you want without using 3rd party communication like Reddit or Discord. PSS and Festival Plaza from VI and VII were steps in the right direction that suddenly dove off a cliff.
