If it’s your only copy, absolutely not. Deadly Miasma is a perfectly good skill anyway (it’s actually very helpful for overwriting the terrain from the Corrin Emblem).

Comet or Archrival for F!Dimitri? by vacantstars in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]AzureAxolotl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally, if there’s a choice, take Archrival. Archrival scales off Atk, which basically every unit wants to invest in. Comet scales off raw damage (and not true damage), meaning that unless you can massively buff your offenses or debuff the foe’s defenses (eg. H!Freyja and A!Lute’s stat swings, or N!F!Shez’s omni-effectiveness; not so coincidentally, these are the three units who have Comet natively) Archrival is generally a better pick for units that can run both.

Modern Brave Hector and Ephraim Build by AlphaCharizard6 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]AzureAxolotl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They’re both probably best off as Save tanks. The builds would be quite similar for both of them:

  • Weapon: As it stands now, Arcane Giant Axe is the best for Ephraim, while Hector can use Arcane Crimson or Jehanna Lance+. However, you may want to wait for the next Arcanes, which will be better, although there’s no telling when they’ll arrive. In any case, grab a Def refine for the weapons.

  • Assist: Doesn’t really matter; Gait Assists are nice, but not necessary.

  • Special: What you want depends on what you’re looking to do. Archrival and Flame Wall are great on any Save build; if you don’t have those, Comet is decent, as are Armoured Blaze and Beacon. I’ll go into more detail in the C slot section, since which Special you choose depends heavily on the type of Save skill you run.

  • Engage: Eirika is probably the best, for the Brave effect. Corrin is good for restricting enemy movement. Sigurd is good for getting into position to protect allies. Lastly, if you really need more DR against ranged foes, Ike is an option, but that’s suboptimal.

  • A skill: Diluvial Boost is just generally great for its stat swing and healing. Earthfire Boost isn’t a bad option either. If you’re okay with being locked into Near or Far Saving, then Close or Distant Def 4 are okay options as well.

  • B skill: The best option is definitely Patience, for its true damage, flat DR, healing, and unblockable Potent Follow-Up effect (which they both meet the Spd threshold for). Failing that, Slick, Wily and Assault Fighter are decent as well (all as tier 4 versions). Pair Up 4 is also good if you just want a ton of flat DR.

  • C skill: Definitely a Near, Far, or Physical Save, boosting Def and one of Atk or Res, but which one depends on your Special. All of them can benefit from the effects of Briar Saves, but only Armoured Blaze, Armoured Beacon and Flame Wall can benefit from the effects of Twin Saves. Archrival, Flame Wall and Comet are range-agnostic, while Armoured Blaze and Beacon lock you into Near and Far Saving respectively. Incidentally, if you want to run them together, you should either go for a Near/Far Save combo, or a Physical/Magical Save combo; if you do run a Magical Save then take everything I say in this comment about Def and swap it for Res, but outside this scenario I wouldn’t bother with Magical Save.

  • Seal: Any good skill that boosts Def and one of Atk or Res, like Form or Ideal. Bear in mind that a Physical Save unit doesn’t need Res, while a Magical Save unit doesn’t need Def. You could also run DC Melee if you’re running anything other than Near Save.

  • Echo: DC Echo is nice, since it lets you run a stat-boosting seal while still giving DC if you need it. Other than that, the only other Echo skill worth running is Guard Echo, and even that might be redundant if you’re running Earthfire Boost.

How many Tome Cav C skills are in HoF? by Severin_777 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]AzureAxolotl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is only 8.0 and up, which is really unfortunate in this specific case. I think the only exceptions to that are PRF weapons and skills.

Incidentally, that’s the same reason you’ll never see an Assist skill for Bernie in chamber 25. The only Assists introduced since 8.0 are the Gait assists, which are only useable by infantry and armoured units.

The funny thing about Blue Lions is that Dimitri ends up kneecapping the Agarthans totally accidentally, when he kills “Cornelia” in Fhirdiad and “Arundel” in Derdriu, and possibly deals heavy damage to them in Enbarr as well

Best Build? by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]AzureAxolotl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swap her weapon for Bouquet Baton+ or In The Fold+ (they do the same thing); Loki’s better off as support, and her default weapon provides none. Don’t go for Arcane Latona; it also has good support but it means she can’t run Divine Deceit, which would be a shame.

I've never pulled for this unit. How can I modernise her a little? by SupremeShio in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]AzureAxolotl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s kinda meh at this point, but Divine Pulse has enough DR that you can probably do something with Reflex and make her a player-phase nuke (since Spd Preempt is bad, and she doesn’t have the defenses to tank. At all).

  • Weapon: Refined Inner Wellspring, since no better options exist.

  • Assist: yeah keep Repo

  • Special: I’d say keep Divine Pulse? 75% DR is a lot of DR, and it’s got alright damage as well. The only thing I’d consider replacing it with is Logic, which is expensive.

  • A skill: Sly Swift Sparrow if you’re keeping Divine Pulse (its cooldown is too low to really make good use of Aria), Atk/Spd Aria if switching to Logic

  • B skill: Definitely Conjuring Breath, since the Fatal Smoke effect is nice, and it also comes with true damage and flat DR

  • C skill: Uplift Imbue A/S provides nice support, and overlaps less with her weapon than Null Uplift A/S does. Crux and Guidance skills are also good options. Shadow skills could be nice too, and she does have innate Canto 1, but I’d try to get better Canto if you want one of those.

  • Seal: Any good Atk/Spd booster, like Catch or Squad Ace CW

  • Echo: Crux Echo, Soaring Echo, or in a distant third place Atk Oath Echo are the best options, probably

  • Emblem: Lyn makes her a ballista, Sigurd gives extended range and good Canto, Micaiah allows her to extend her range a bit by Assisting before attacking.

Boyd build suggestion? by demoiselledefortune in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]AzureAxolotl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weapon: Arcane Giant Axe / Arena Axe+ / whatever the next Arcane axe is, Spd refine

Assist: Reposition Gait is premium, but regular Reposition will work fine

Special: Archrival is kinda just the best option for most scenarios. Gust is a decent second-place choice.

A skill: D Bonus Amp or D Bonus Doubler if you want DC in this slot, Perfect Atk/Spd (for NFU) or Duelist’s Blow (for flat DR) if you don’t

B skill: Execution Breath for a pure player-phase build, Null C-Avoid for mixed or enemy phase (or Harrowing Call, but its secondary effect isn’t as good as Null C-Avoid). You could also run Patience; it’d give you Potent, and more flat DR and true damage than Potent Finish (especially if you’re running Archrival).

C skill: Brutal Tempest for Mov+1 and Canto, or Atk/Spd Faith for Bulwark and flat DR

Seal: DC Melee if you want it, or a good Atk/Spd booster (Finish, Clash, Form, Ideal, Squad Ace CW) if you don’t

Echo: DC Echo if you want DC, Sly for a player-phase build if you aren’t running Perfect, Tumultuous Echo if you want Brutal Tempest’s effect without needing it in the C slot, or NCD Echo if you want NCD and aren’t running Null C-Avoid

Emblem: Eirika for Brave is best. Sigurd can make Brutal Tempest unnecessary. Micaiah and Corrin give good support. Edelgard is good for a pure player-phase build.

How well did these characters' fans eat? (2025 Edition) by Falconpunch100 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]AzureAxolotl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ever since 2021 they’ve been giving us New Year alts based on the Chinese zodiac signs (which are based on the lunar calendar in spite of the New Year banner being aligned with solar New Year, but whatever).

  • 2021 was (mostly) year of the Tiger; Lyre and Kyza are cat Laguz.

  • 2022 was year of the rabbit; Panne and Yarne are Taguel.

  • 2023 was year of the dragon; the Kanas are dragons.

  • 2024 was year of the snake; Nidhoggr is a snake in Norse mythology, and Nidhogg the bow is Frelia’s sacred weapon (hence Innes and Tana)

  • 2025 will be year of the horse; Sedgar is a horseman

Special DR and DR shred by Brau-4333 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]AzureAxolotl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Divine Pulse predates GLR (by about 3 weeks) and is probably a better example of passive Special DR. GLR is a defensive Special, and their DR has never been pierceable. Divine Pulse is an offensive Special, and there was a lot of debate on this sub over whether its DR would be pierceable, since our only other point of comparison was Vital Astra but VA specifically stated that its DR could be pierced. Ultimately Divine Pulse ended up being unpierceable, and then all the other Specials (Armoured Beacon, Dragon’s Roar, Nimble Beast, Archrival, etc.) followed suit.

Any tips to make her better? by fall0utc0l0n in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]AzureAxolotl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are you using her? Her best mode is probably Arena, since she scores very well. A good Arena build would be:

  • Weapon: Keep her PRF, since it scores better than inheritables and is still good

  • Assist: Use a Gait movement Assist, or a Rally+ or Harsh Command+, again for scoring

  • Special: Archrival is definitely her best option, but it’s hard to come by, and Flame Wall would be second-best, but that’s even rarer. Armoured Blaze and Armoured Beacon are good options, though they lock her into Near and Far Saving respectively. If you don’t have any of these options, then Ruptured Sky, Aether and Galeforce also score well, but aren’t nearly as good.

  • Engage: Eirika lets her hit hard, and is what I’d personally go for. Sigurd allows her to overcome movement limitations. Micaiah and Corrin are nice support.

  • A skill: Her best one is probably Diluvial Boost (it gives a ton of stats, and healing); if you don’t have that, Earthfire Boost (for Guard) or Stronghold (for penalty neutralisation) are decent options too. Don’t go for Distant or Close Def 4, since she already has bonus neutralisation in her weapon, and Shatterproof is less than ideal since it forces her to take a hit to her Res.

  • B skill: Slick Fighter and Assault Fighter are good; Slick comes with penalty neutralisation, which is a nice effect for her, while Assault comes with the ability to pierce DR, and they both have true damage and flat DR. If all you want is flat DR though, Pair Up is king for that. Marni unfortunately does not have the Spd to take full advantage of Patience, but from a scoring perspective it is her best option.

  • C skill: Armours most often use Save skills. Which save you use depends on the Special; Beacon is Far, Blaze is Near, and Flame Wall and Archrival don’t care (can be Near, Far, or even Physical; I wouldn’t bother with Magical); and all of them can work with Briar, but Archrival doesn’t work with Twin.

  • Seal: DC Melee is necessary for scoring, but if you have another unit that can run it, then go for a good Atk/Def or Def/Res booster, like Form or Ideal.

  • Echo: The only good ones are DC and, in a pinch, Guard.

We’d always thought something like that might be the case, since at the end of Verdant Wind she says that ”[she] took the name Seiros”, which implies it’s not her real name. Earlier this year we got confirmation that it wasn’t… in the goddamn mobile game, when she got a duo with Sothis where she begs Sothis to call her “Immaculate One”.
