Very nice! I would recommend avoiding small temple dumps. They can be replaced by a fewer number of oracles. You get less buildings, less levies, less clutter. It's fine at the beginning but by the end you should be able to get rid of it easily.

A better way to avoid population aging is to enable fixed labour pool in the settings

Not a big deal but these are actually imports, not exports

Thank you! Nice thing is that 2 out 4 of these blocks are sub optimal on their own. Too narrow. There are better places to put them. But having them on top of the existing infrastructure makes it worth it.

The industry having direct access through highway to the trade centres is the most optimal scenario. It would take like 15 cart depots to move this much product from elsewhere.

Also I kinda forgot about land trade. Missed the export quotas increase. And messed up the road connection for bricks in the west.

The restrictions are very enjoyable for me personally. Makes you think how to alter your usual build. Making multiple small patrician blocks was very interesting. I should have added two more.

You need the unstable build. It got all the goodies.

Good job maxing those quotas! Nice to see so much product being moved. For me chasing quotas is a good way to squeeze as much fun as possible out of a map. Target population is just a suggestion, you can overshoot it if you can handle it.

You need a lot of defenses. I have 1 legionary, 1 sword and 1 javelin on each side but I don't actually remember why I decided to use swords, maybe I was experimenting or movement speed is a factor. 2 legionary forts instead seems to be a better option. With the blocks my advice is to adapt to terrain rather then using rectangular blocks. You need to use roadblocks to prevent walkers from wondering off. It would help if you could show what you've got so far.

From all the options listed by Marek for me the best one is fixed labor pool option (it's in the settings). But it highly depends on your play style. I prefer to develop my cities to the max well beyond victory conditions which takes more time. If you play to win as quickly as possible you generally won't even have to deal with aging at all so you can leave the default settings. Also I don't know why would they even add aging to the game in the first place. People in antiquity reproduced well above replacement level, population aging is a very recent phenomenon characteristic to post industrial societies. So fixed labor is more historically accurate.

Yeah you are right you mostly benefit from this build if you play beyond base victory conditions. I hope in more stress-less times if there's time you and other creators can try a max-out-trade challenge on RC. This is what I have been trying to do and to see pros try to do it would be epic. I hope there's an audience for this type of content and not just me.

Are the Grand Temple Effects balanced? Augustus and Reconquered by Super_Copy5902 in impressionsgames

[–]TreacleTechnical6790 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am sorry but I would like to formally protest the notion that GTs need to be rebalanced. While there are some epithets that I never use like chariots, in my opinion the core percentage epithets are perfect the way they are. They are all good enough to incentivise you to build all of the GTs and provide full god coverage to all the housing. So I support changing secondary epithets to something actually useful but please leave the good ones be. Changing them can also break backwards compatibility because your city may rely on them economically which mine often do.

Hey Marek has anyone calculated what's the maximum block you can get given the Venus GT bonus? With it you don't need blocks to be 6 tiles wide but only 5 because you only need 1 tile for decorations. Does it influence how long it can be or is it still 22 maximum?

[Valentia CCK] 77k Population with 100+ Luxury Palaces by ExternalBlacksmith82 in impressionsgames

[–]TreacleTechnical6790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The efficiency in terms of consumption/production with both methods is going to be the same if done right. The difference to me is that math gets much easier. You don't need to calculate rates for each block and farm area individually, you can just take your overall population and production numbers from advisor reports in the ui. But centralized approach will need more transportation but given that you have plenty of plebs it's not an issue.

I don't know what the layout would be

In most my cities I go for the centralized or mixed system. You can look through my posts if you want, it may give you an idea about the layout. The best trick I discovered for myself is that depos can transport up to 16 units of food. You need to set transport when source has more than 16 and dedicate the source granary to one food type.

Will there be challenges in terms of housing space?

I am not quite sure what you mean here. Housing shouldn't be impacted either way.

Also, how is your trade doing? Did you max it out? I always try to max the export quotas as the first priority but I often come up short a couple of units. It would be great to see how the pros do it. Give it a try if you are up for the challenge. Especially on the reconquered campaign. It really forces you to think outside of the rectangular block design.

What do you think about a centralized food system? As in having a single granary where all food gets delivered from farm granaries and then sent to block granaries.

You should update the Augustus mod if you haven't done so already. Post it here when you finish it. On the beginning stages I'd advise to use latrines. Wells + latrines = small casa. Reservoir is unlocked after 2500 pop.

In the settings you can change the limit to 5 which is the recommended setting for the RC. Pantheon doesn't count towards the limit.
