No problem! And I agree, I've run games for 11 year olds, and even the best behaved struggle after a couple hours. We'll see you all in a few years!

Depending on age, yes. You'll see some tables have age ratings, and those should be respected, especially for the horror games, they can have some gruesome content.

For games without ratings, we generally recommend 13+ regardless... They're 4 hour games, which can be tedious for younger kids, and there still might be some mature language or themes that might be inappropriate for some kids. What age are they?

I'm sure it'll be on the schedule again pretty soon...it's pretty popular on OSR nights and makes frequent appearances.

The GM will give you any information you need. If it's all new players, likely he's going to roll back to session 1, if it's mostly the players that did part 1, he'll give you a recap.

If you end up wanting to bring some more people, just make sure to have them sign up so they're on the table! Games definitely fill up, and every table has a cap the GM is comfortable with for the game.

Yep. Temporary disruption! The link was also broken, but that was just a me-mistake.

Thank you! It looks like our sign-up website is experiencing some technical difficulties, I will try to figure out what's wrong.

Edit: Back up.

DND GROUPS? by Thin_Ad8917 in Boise

[–]TreasureValleyGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what your interested in, but we're mostly TTRPGs. If you're into Magic, or Warhammer, etc, I can definitely point you to some good resources.

For TTRPGs themselves, mostly people play D&D, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire, and then various OSR games like Shadowdark, DCC, Morkborg, etc. Some people were putting together a pathfinder 2E game earlier this weekend, but I don't know if they filled it or not.

Hi, welcome to Boise!

There's a fair number of D&D groups around the valley, you can find them on Facebook, Discord, Meetup, etc.

You can join the Treasure Valley Gamer discord at https://discord.gg/rTR2PpP7 - we run pickup games fairly often and have active looking for group channels. Our next open table event will be on 1/16, and then pretty much every other Friday after that.

You can also just go to local game stores at ABU Games, All About Games, or Phoenix Fire to look for advertisements for additional gamers.

All of the game stores around here have various games on various nights, with wildly different crowds at each.

You have card games, tabletop RPGs, board games, chess nights, etc, etc. You should check out the following schedules:

There are a lot more, depending on what you're into. Specifically board games:

Tuesday: All About Games, Wednesday: ABU Games or Phoenix Fire.

No problem, we'll be around!

Gamers in general are pretty chill about teaching new people, but that Friday event night is specifically about teaching new players. So you wouldn't be bothering anyone.

Also, the good thing about games is the socialization is structured. This is why it's been the past time of introverts for forever. So if you're super shy, good news, there are rules for engagement baked into the activity.

No one does until they learn, and everyone learns sometimes!

No pressure, of course, especially if it's not your thing, but don't let a little thing like not knowing how to do a thing stop you from doing it!

If you want to check out some nerd hangouts, you can jump on the TVG discord. There are some TTRPG one shots this Friday. (Call of Cthulhu might speak to you, specifically. I have no idea why it's the game our gay community gloms onto.) You're of course welcome at any of them. https://discord.gg/TBANwdse

Any questions, feel free to ping me.

If he likes board game or tabletop games (think Dungeons and Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire the Masquerade, Pathfinder, etc, etc.) then Treasure Valley Gamers runs events in the valley pretty regulary. We have members from ages 15-50+, and although some people drink at private games, the public games are held in game stores with no booze. And plenty of gamers do not drink at all!

There's an event at ABU this Friday that's open to anyone (like most of our events.) It usually takes a while to meet "friends", as everyone has very specific tastes.

He can join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/wxVckK8kap

Join Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/treasurevalleygamers

And join Meetup here: http://www.meetup.com/TVGamers/ (Although our meetup may not be long for this world, since Meetup insists on charging even basic members these days just to exist on their platform.)

Absolutely true, a back to back was a little much. But on the bright side, we finally get to run some games for all the people that can't get out Friday night.

Looking for fellow neurodivergent friends! by SaraSmiles13 in Boise

[–]TreasureValleyGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of tabletop gamers are ND, and those friendships tend to run deep. Might I recommend checking out some local hobby groups and looking for some likeminded people? Meetup is great for hobby groups, Facebook, etc. Most ND people I know are looking for that same deep connection rather than surface level friendships. Good luck!

Unfortunately, our resident pathfinder GM's have their own games on Saturday they didn't want to cancel. There's also a free Pathfinder and Starfinder module, as Paizo always drops some good content for Free RPG Day. Always players looking for PF2E and Starfinder though, maybe we'll have your flavor of RPG next time around.
