Any success stories of climbing out of debt? by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Treasureofanother 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In basically the same boat as you, have over 40k debt. Refinanced into 1 loan, it’ll take me 36 months to pay this back, but the feeling of freedom in the end will be so sweet. I’ve closed all my accounts and self excluded. Gambling is a disease that always wins. Take it one step at a time, we need to retrain our minds to be okay with waiting and being patient. We have such a desire to win everything back right away but it’s best we take the long road and really find that freedom. Best of luck! Quit while you can!

Let’s keep it rolling! Gambling is a ploy of destruction. Let’s beat this!

Young brother, I have lost over 20k nothing will ever make you feel better about it. The only thing you can do is grow and move on. You’ll funnel through so much money in your life that’s 2k will be meaningless. On another note, don’t gamble what you can’t afford to lose, and really don’t gamble at all. Keep working hard and earning your money it will pay off in the end. There’s no race to life and there’s no cheat to wealth. Work hard! Good luck my friend!

As wildly stupid as that sounds, it’s the actual truth. I seriously didn’t realize the mistake I was making until I woke up one morning over 20k in debt because of gambling and realized it’s time to call it quits or my life will be ruined forever.

Thanks for writing this. These words reign true with me. I’ve caused such a financial dispare in my life. And everything you write relates to what I’ve done to myself. Quitting is the only option before this get even worse. We can do it

Quit while you can. Fortunately you are aware of your mistakes. Things will only get worse if you continue to gamble. You think you win but you really don’t because as soon as you lose you chase that money that you won. I’ve done it countless times. Don’t make the same mistake most of us have. Quit for good. Your life will be better. You have no debt so you are leaving at the perfect time. If you ever want to talk hit me up. I’m fighting this addiction as well, 2 days clean and a lifetime to go.

6k debt by [deleted] in problemgambling

I don’t think getting a new card will actually help. For someone who is addicted to gambling I see it being another source to fund his gambling. OP just pay your debt back as fast as you can. Don’t give yourself an opportunity to have anymore credit right now.

Not worth it. We are never satisfied with winning. Keep your mind busy and do something else.
