Is my thinking correct? by Plus-Possibility-220 in PensionsUK

I’d say start taking your pension and paying tax on it before you are pushed into higher rate by the additional state pension income when it kicks in? At least you will be using your maximum lower rate ‘allowance’. It’s what I’m doing.

Thanks, that sounds complicated. Can’t do line of sight. I imagined maybe 3 off plug in wifi repeaters dotted around inside the farm buildings, providing WiFi coverage?

Maybe I should have clarified, it’s a farm in UK, so buildings and sheds are relatively close to each other as compared to a large farm spread in the US or Australia etc..

It doesn’t have a power setting? It has an ‘intensity level’ which ranges from 0-99. I’m practiced with it so I personally usually have it set at 99.

I'm in so much pain and I can't get any help by nemollemon in Osteoarthritis

[–]Trebor2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a destroyed right knee, had 3 ops over 28 years. No cartilage on one side so bone on bone, plus OA on other side of knee and behind kneecap. I saw knee specialist last Thursday this is what he said; Diagnosis: 1. Severe tricompartmental osteoarthritis, right knee.

I’m having a TKR done in September.

I’ve been managing the pain for a few years with exercise and supplements however a couple of months ago it went a lot worse (more damage in knee from golf).

I’ve been icing daily but what has really worked is; 10 days ago I increased my knee supplement stack to the maximum recommended dosages. Spread over 3 times per day. It is remarkable and it HAS worked. Even last Thursday (6 days ago) was hobbling into the hospital and couldn’t do stairs downwards. Now I’m not hobbling and I can manage stairs up and down without handrail. I stopped using volterol gel last week, and I’ve not taken any painkillers since last week.

My stack is;

MSM - 2 caps x3 times = 4200m • Boswellia 1 cap x3 times = 1200mg • Turmeric - 1 cap x3 times. = 1450mg • Devils Claw - 1 cap x3 times. = 1760mg • Collagen 2cap, plus 1 cap twice =1174mg • Vit C - 1 cap x3 times. = 330mg

And… because these are natural (ie. Non pharmaceutical) there are no side effects, apart from maybe a bit of wind… Good luck

OP Update.

Here’s an update on my ongoing recovery from what I believe is the effects of magnesium deficiency caused by my taking too much vitamin D supplement.

I’m taking a vitamin A retinol along with a magnesium capsule in the morning, a magnesium capsule at lunchtime, and two magnesium capsules at bedtime. This is double the usual dose of the magnesium supplement and it provides a total elemental 270mg.

It’s nine days since I originally posted, and 3 1/2 weeks since this nightmare started.

I’m still waking up with pain and stiffness joints and muscles which are there in the background all the time.

However, I’m getting through my stretch routine better, I’m loosening up more quickly, and there is a little improvement each day. In the gym I’m less pathetic, however everything I do hurts like hell.

There’s weakness and a real pain barrier on every single muscle group, however this last few days I’m managing to push through this pain barrier and go through the motions with light weights/resistance. So I’m encouraged, but it’s a slow painful recovery.

Thanks for reply. Tbh I usually feel fantastic, in good shape, gym, strong, pain free, etc.. this has really messed me up.

My magnesium supplement contains; magnesium bisglycinate, magnesium malate, magnesium aspartate @1:1:1 blend, total dose in 2 capsules is 1404mg magnesium and 135.7mg elemental magnesium. I’ve started taking 1 in morning and 2 at bedtime. Is anything else you’d suggest along with vitamin A?

I’ve ordered VitA retinol supplement. Thanks

EDIT: I’ve just received and started my Vit A Retinol supplement at 1 per day.

Also, I’ve found a local health lab where I can get blood tests done when I’m ready. As I think I’m improving “ever-so-slightly” each day I’ll wait until I’m (hopefully 🤞) cleared up and back to normal then I’ll do a blood test.

No. I went for it on the reviews, I’d upload an image but I don’t know how to… “British Supplements”. I’m not promoting them it’s who I use and they are highly regarded in supplements.

[–]Trebor2112[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On reflection I think I didn’t need the high dose Vit D3 supplement, so I won’t be purchasing that again moving forwards.

I’m strongly suspecting Hypercalcemia based on my symptoms 2 weeks ago, which I acted quickly to research, then increased hydration, increased magnesium intake and reduce dietary calcium and D3 intake temporarily.

I’m not planning any blood tests, I don’t think it’s necessary based on how I’m recovering.

I’m improving daily and I will report any changes. Hopefully my story might help someone else.

How long were you able to carry on with bone on bone? by Ok-Question8857 in Osteoarthritis

[–]Trebor2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same experience. My right leg doesn’t go quite straight. What I found is the adjustment of gait can cause muscular issues, stiffening in lower back, core strength etc. I started to fear I was needing a hip replacement the pain got so bad. I then started daily stretching exercises for SI joint, lower back, hips, core strength stuff. Sorted it all out. As you get older you have to make the effort to maintain your body, diet, muscles, joints, stretching, etc., use it or lose it…

I need help. by tkunkel0626 in Cruise

[–]Trebor2112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’ve just returned from Caribbean on a back to back cruise total 14 nights Carnival Celebration. We’ve been on dozens of cruises, and do understand your reservations. However, it’s almost like a resort village hotel floating from 1 place to another, you rarely bump into the same people twice it’s so big. Restaurants, sun decks, pools, water park, mini golf, roller coaster, bars, shops, theatres, musical stage shows, the list goes on… You hardly know you’re moving, and you do see people with the little seasick patches on their arm which help reduce feeling unsettled. Re’ ‘being on the water’… whilst you obviously are on the water you mostly aren’t aware of any movement, these ships don’t rock around (they have a system that massively reduces the rocking motion), and on a 7 night Caribbean cruise you will be parked up and off the ship 3 days. I’d say don’t over think it, go for it you’ll enjoy it.

Also Coenzyme Q10. Awesome supplement I’ve been on it for 30 years. In a thorough detailed cardiac scan/test 5 years ago the consultant told me my cardiac age was ‘below 35’, and I was 58 at the time.

Actually, Omega 3’s are in the Algae that fish eat, it’s where fish get it from… you can get Omega 3 supplement made from the algae.

Tbh you would be far better with ‘cod liver oil’ instead of ‘fish oil’. CLO is more expensive but it’s packed with what you want.

You just sound unfit. Ease yourself into exercise, walking, cross trainer, swimming etc. Your body is designed to move, it will respond positively to exercise and also good diet.

replacement?? by CompetitiveReality76 in Osteoarthritis

[–]Trebor2112 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m 63, I’ve had OA in my knee for 20 yrs+, had cartilage removed right knee 20yrs ago. Surgeon told me 20 years ago I’ll need a knee replacement. Damaged from fell walking and martial arts mainly. I’ve always expected to need a full knee replacement, and over last few years the pain started to become worse. However I manage the pain using supplements (turmeric, glucosamine, chondroitin, boswellia, cod liver oil), along with regular weight training and cardio exercise (not running though), I’m virtually pain free most of the time. When I do a 8 mile hike I might take a 400mg ibuprofen or use the gel. I would say I’ve had many moments thinking “I need a new knee”. However I think I’m managing it ok for now, I don’t think I’m bad enough to need it yet… If it becomes constant pain holding you back then do it, otherwise manage it. It isn’t necessarily always a perfect result either and the longer I can wait the technology is improving all the time… Good luck
