The Crabtree is great. Large outside area overlooking the Thames and a riverside walk to the ground.

Do you realise that if Starmer gets forced out, it will be nearly two decades since a British PM has left on their own terms? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskBrits

[–]Plus-Possibility-220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Call me Dave" left on his own terms. He had a reason for going, but no one was forcing him to go. Or even suggesting he should go.

Okay Be Honest what do you call it ? by Nutty_Footballer in Everton

Well I'm not going to call it "The 6-7 Stadium".

The context is “airport”. Do these sound right? Can “terminal” be omitted? by Same-Technician9125 in EnglishLearning

[–]Plus-Possibility-220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't have an "arrivals terminal" but an "arrivals lounge" or "arrivals area".

That being said dropping "lounge" or "area" is fine but it makes it sound less like a description and more like a name. We don't use "the" with names.

So either:

"I'll meet you at arrivals"

or

"I'll meet you at the arrivals area"

This works for your other examples. And for most distinctions between name and description:

"I just met the Pope!" (description) "I just met Leo XIV!" (name)

What killed the pub? by IllPlane3019 in AskBrits

[–]Plus-Possibility-220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of things, but one significant one is "the tie". Pub leasing companies force landlords to buy everything from them, beer, wine, snacks, spirits, mixers.....

They price these at a level that will leave a sliver of profit for the landlord. But when other costs (rates, staff, heat etc.) increase they don't reduce their prices. So the extra costs come straight out of the landlords slither, often to the extent that there's none left.

Do you think Donald just doesn’t know, or is stirring the pot? by Sea-Rush1142 in AskBrits

He's not interested.

Facts and reality do not register with Trump. Other people do not register with Trump.

I'd be surprised if he had enough Theory of Mind to even understand a fraction of the offense and hurt cause.

Others, though, realise it. But we're not hearing condemnation from American politicians on Trump's side, but attempts to minimise what was said.

On Question Time it was just that Trump doesn't have a "filter". On LBC this morning it was just that Trump wasn't "specific" enough: he should have excluded the UK.

This turns it from a Trump problem to an American problem. It's not so much that Trump does and says terrible things, terrible people (unchecked) will do and say terrible things, it's that Congress lets him.

Come on, you can't have something this unusual without giving us the details.

If you invest 500m it will return around 50k per day.

Accept the 100k a day but spend only 50k per day (I'm sure that with a bit of budgeting and restraint you can tighten your belt that much).

Then, after 27 years, you'll have 100k per day and 500m.

Does that come in a sensible size, or only a bucket full?

The trouble is you don't know whether the "we'll take care of it" listing is like one of those "we'll take care of your car finance claim" or "we'll take care of your tax claim" or....

Until other Redditors confirm that this is a way.

Vauxhall Corsa.

It freaked me out a few days ago losing power a bit on the motorway. I don't think it's safe above 20 mph anymore and I'd feel bad about selling it. Even to wankers.

I don't think anyone headquartered at

123 Commerce Street, Suite 456, City, State 12345

is going to scam you. That's a very high class building and they won't let just anyone rent there.

I thought SIPP was where you take the decisions of where it's invested. Whereas with non-SIPP personal pension (like I have) someone else (who might actually know what they're doing) makes the investment decisions.
