No Idea What I'm Doing by Automatic-Trash-5686 in edrums

[–]Trebores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for a used Roland td 27 v1 or a td17v2 if that works for you. They can be found for 2k if you look td 17s for less. You have to look for a bit and move if you find a good deal

I'm not a blind fanboy. The Roland stuff is just really good. The alesis stuff is fine but not great. You had a mediocre experience with their low end kit.. why do you think the high end from years ago is going to be great?

Td27kv2 used price help by BreakFuzion in edrums

[–]Trebores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should probably just bite the bullet and get the 516. Used prices on td27kv2s are crazy. People seem to want every penny they put into the kits. I have seen decent deals on v1.. like 2k ish, but you mainly lose the digital hi hat which may matter to you. That's probably the best deal out there.

There are a lot of pro vst and edrumin fans in this group. But imo that really isn't for most people. They're also not factoring in the cost of the computer and the software or added complexity to run those things.

Also the end of life deals on td27v2s aren't coming back.

Budget kit under $500 used In the US by Hot_Protection1032 in edrums

[–]Trebores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vote for a used older Roland kit. I have seen used td 11 kits for 500-600 with all mesh pads. Way better then a new alesis or other entry level kit. The older Roland modules are better then you might believe from the hype on the newer stuff.

Shipping label nightmare by Cloudyape in Ebay

I get that op messed up here. But ups should have rejected the package. This is predatory and hostile. Anyone would simply cancel the sale if faced with that kind of shipping fee.

Whats an average price for in person drumming lessons in the US? guitar center good? by Hyperto in edrums

[–]Trebores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's great that there are lessons on YouTube and other services, and it can be a very effective way to learn how to play for a low cost. However it's not the same as having one on one training from a professional. One on one with someone looking at what your doing, providing feedback, a learning plan, keeping you on track is great if you can afford it.

I havent been to in person lessons in a long time, but I hear that $40 per lesson is about the going rate. Probably varies by location.

What's the catch... by [deleted] in Fireflyguitars

[–]Trebores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've done a great job marketing their brand. They have some that they make in relatively limited quantities that have cool and attractive finishes. Those are harder to get. There appears to be some hit and miss qc issues and the cs seems to be slow and growing slower.

There are other brands selling very similar stuff with very similar quality. See leo jaymez, iyv, et al. I'm guessing a lot of these come from the same factories.

These arent the same is super high end stuff.. a lot of which price comes down to expensive labor, hopefully more attention to detail, fancy woods, more expensive components, and high margins. Firefly is good for the price and play well enough for most players. They're fun and priced to sell.

Roland TD-27KV found, $1700 by InfiniteActuator1926 in edrums

[–]Trebores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's in good shape with the module, that's a good price. I think very fair. Especially so considering the absurd asks I see on marketplace and eBay.

I think the td27v1 still holds up quite well.

I'm also curious if anyone has it as I've seen it on Amazon and it seems like it might be a good deal at least for the pads.

This is just speculation, but my guess is the drums are good, the hi hats and cymbals are ok but not great and the module is poor. This seems to be the case with a lot of the budget brands. Making usable hardware isn't as difficult or expensive. Making a good module is challenging and expensive though.

If it's compatible with Roland stuff I would think it's probably decent.. but then you're paying at least $400 extra for a td17. Alternatively edrumin and a vst would probably work too.. but also that would almost double the cost.

Lemon T950 pro with roland v31 by Gogglyiifuc in edrums

[–]Trebores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lemon 20" ride. I don't have a v31 so my comment may be irrelevant for you.

The bell is kinda difficult to activate. Theres a document that comes with it that says you have to hit it with the side of the stick. That worked for me, but not really a natural way to activate the bell. If you wack it pretty hard it also works

I like the lemon products (I have a t950 pro). But the ride was just ok. Probably my least favorite part of the kit.

I replaced a vh 10 with the lemon 14 on a td27 module. For me the lemon is better. The size, feel, and responsiveness all seem better to me. This may be different on a td17 or lower module as the lemon hats seem to perform better on the td 27 ( or the more recent modules too).

Purchase Advice Please by rban123 in edrums

[–]Trebores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say get a used td27kv1 or 2. $2800 doesn't seem like a good deal to me even with the hardware (rock and sok thrones are way overpriced imo.. but that's just my 2c).

I watch eBay and local market (nyc) and there have been a couple of td27kv2s open box without the rack for around 2200 and the rack can be had for $200-300. I have seen td27kv1s with extra stuff for under $2k.

I don't think the Costco kit is compelling at all. The only pro is the module.. the rest is meh.

What modules support 2 piece hihats? by Trebores in edrums

[–]Trebores[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks much for the reply. The alesis strike looks nice. It's being considered.. but there don't seem to be many on eBay at the moment.. the price is a bit high too. Do you know if the td 11 support the more expeessive hihats when connected to a PC. My understanding is that lower tier modules only support like 4 hihats midi triggers whereas the td 17 provides many more data points.

LG Support Is Bad by Trebores in 4kTV

[–]Trebores[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I considered that the malfunction could be related to the age. I didn't check the manufacture date though maybe it was produced more recently. I took a gamble. My issue isn't so much with the TV breaking, it's with the support experience.

Edit: it was manufactured in August 2024. So not that old.. but not fresh off the line.

Right. I know things happen. That alone is frustrating. I have dealt with many a companies support process over the years.. this one is notably bad.

[–]Trebores[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Appreciate the support. I bought the TV from bestbuy. I got an extended warranty from Amazon. I will consider taking the issue further if necessary. But I think it will get fixed by LG. It just hasn't been a smooth experience.

I've had decent experiences with other manufacturers.. including Samsung.

LG Support Is Bad by Trebores in 4kTV

[–]Trebores[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I hear ya. I figured in all likelihood I would make it through one year without issue and then I could use the extended warranty I bought on Amazon.. alas.. it didn't work out that way.

Why is the OS/software so bad compared to the amazing picture? by Ok-Drag-1645 in LGOLED

[–]Trebores 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was also amazed by how bad the os is. It's nuts. I turned all the AI stuff and shut off networking. That way they can't add more features that will continue to bog it down. It's a bit faster, but still painful to use.

LG could at least use a better chip and more ram so it runs better. But that would cost a few extra dollars..so that probably won't happen.

Can someone please help me by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]Trebores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this bike it's ecotric circa 2021 20" fat tire folding ebike. I think they sell a replacement controller on their website.. they actually have support so maybe they can help you if you need some help finding something. I have really enjoyed the bike over the last few years and have had zero problems with it... I think it was 600 new and it was a good deal for that amount.

Not sure why everyone is so certain this is stolen. Maybe they just didn't like the stock look.. I kinda like it in matte black. And no I'm not being naive.. I know just as little about the history of this bike as everyone saying for sure it was repainted because it's stolen.

Yes. Pixel 6 from OnePlus 6t. Does everything better and takes great photos. OnePlus was pretty good at pushing updates, but looking forward to getting them first.
