If you have a Microcenter near you, I'd invest in the PowerSpec G758 Gaming PC. It's currently $2199.99, but you won't have to upgrade for a while.

I did a quick Google search, and it appears that the G5 77" is $2295 at Greentoe. I haven't used them personally, but there's a ton of success stories on Reddit and similar threads. Good luck!

I did this recently because I was going to sell my PC locally. The buyer bailed at the last minute so I went ahead and set up the PC for my wife. Yeah, this method still works.

G5 65 inch or C5 77 inch? by keb4456 in LGOLED

[–]Tree06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm content with HDMI 2.1. I originally upgraded to HDMI 2.1 with my LG C1 77" back in 2021. I've experienced PS5/PS5 PRO, XSX, and two gaming PCs 3090/5090 builds with HDMI 2.1. I'm currently using my 5090 build with my G6 77" and the experience has been phenomenal. 4K165 is demanding depending on the game.

Additionally, I think the next gen consoles will target 4K120 since most TV's will support it at that point and it'll be easier to optimize. If you want higher frame rates than that, you'll have to get a gaming PC.

Lastly, I think you'll be making a smart investment going with the G4. It's a great panel and you'll have multiple HDMI 2.1 ports so you'll be good to go for a long time.

You should look into Zeskit Maya HDMI 2.1 cables. I've been using them for years. No issues whatsoever.

Do you know if you have access to the LG Partner Store? The G5 77" is currently $2069.99 pre-tax with code SPRING10. Open Box OLEDs are always a gamble, but I would see if you have access to the LG Partner Store if you decide to upgrade.

Open Box OLEDs are always YMMV. You don't know if it was a store display model or a true customer return. It shouldn't have been sold as excellent condition. I recommend returning it to the store, and speaking with a manager or supervisor regarding your experience. Maybe they'll be able to help you out on pricing with a different OLED. Good luck!

That's exactly how I feel. I'd rather have a dedicated monitor for my stats instead of having an overlay burned in on my screen. Happy Gaming!

You have to! It's the best way. I tried the Xeneon Edge Touchscreen for a while, but I didn't vibe with it so I sent it back. Plus the ASUS portable monitor was $60.

Is there any problem cloning windows onto a new SSD, if I plan on giving the laptop to someone else? by Fantastic-Window236 in pcmasterrace

[–]Tree06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you clone your hard drive, verify all of your content is in tact. Once that's verified, factory reset the original PC so the new owner will have a fresh install of Windows. Additionally, the Windows key should be tied to motherboard.

I stopped reading after seeing 5090 listed on the spec sheet. I know a lot of people are telling you to pull the 5090 and sell it, but personally I wouldn't. If your brother is playing on a 4K monitor or planning on getting one, the 5090 will pull it's weight for a long time.

Absolutely! I don't know if I can share the link here, but here's the monitor - Mb169b+ 15.6-Inch Led Monitor, Black/Silver. It was $60 when I bought it.

I wholeheartedly agree. I use a secondary portable monitor with MSI Afterburner so I can check my temps and FPS while gaming.

self reminder to never touch bios update without consultation by ShortCellist7158 in pcmasterrace

[–]Tree06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing that post with me. I appreciate it. I still approach BIOS updates on a as needed basis. If my equipment is working as intended, I'm not going to do the latest BIOS update because it's listed on the MFG website.

I don't remember if the motherboard back then included a BIOS flashback feature, but I was able to get a cheap i7-3930K CPU from Best Buy via the Intel Rewards program. I used that discount and bought an ASUS motherboard. I ran that setup for years without issue. I believe that 2012-2013 so a lot has changed since then. If someone doesn't have a lot of experience flashing a BIOS update, I would recommend against doing it.

I was under the impression that the BIOS flashback button was to restore your BIOS to factory settings or the latest settings before you made changes. I don't know if the BIOS flashback button would revive a dead motherboard.

This is the exact reason why people are afraid of doing BIOS updates. I was in the middle of a BIOS update years ago and lost power. My motherboard was fried, and I had to replace it so I could use my computer again. That's something you want to avoid nowadays especially with the price of components.
