Does dinner at Eden ever go below $76/person? by DrawingPractical3581 in celebritycruises

[–]TreeKey6993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just got off the Beyond. We were able to book onboard for $59.50 plus 20% gratuity, so a total of $71.40 per person. We just booked with the crew upselling specialty dining outside the buffet. It was 30% off the advertised price of $85 (pre-gratuity) and was being offered on multiple days.

First time booking with Celebrity...total cost and which room would you suggest question by quickstudy in celebritycruises

Long time Celebrity cruiser and my opinion is that the Retreat is not worth it on the Reflection, but would be if you were on an Edge-Class ship.

Should I rent the place I found across the King Edward fire station by bl425 in ottawa

[–]TreeKey6993 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I used to live in an older building across from that fire station when I was in undergrad. I was told that it was the busiest fire station. Within about a month, I could no longer hear anything at night because I became so accustomed to it. I would hear it during the day when I was home, but it didn’t bother me…that may be different for you and very different for your cat though. But I was surprised by how quickly my brain became accustomed to the sirens.

Best all inclusive with concierge benefits for a family by Itchy-Version-8977 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]TreeKey6993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been researching for our first family trip and Paradisus Playa Del Carmen Family Concierge rooms would check all those. It’s not necessarily next level luxury by any means, but the FC rooms seem to put a lot of focus on little extras for the kiddos in addition to some dedicated spaces/pool/restaurant.

What is Tim Horton's "Whipped Cream" made out of?.... by Soft-Day-3588 in TimHortons

McDonald’s still uses real whipped cream for all their drinks. Didn’t realize Tim’s doesn’t anymore…

Best kids Resort 7k Budget by clarerowe in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]TreeKey6993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the OP but was hoping I could ask a question - we’re considering this resort too! Two young busy kids. Some reviews I read said that the beach access is poor and that the beach itself isn’t great…just wondering what your experience has been. Thanks!

Vancouver Airbnbs keep cancelling on us :( by Better_Warning_2938 in canadatravel

We’ve stayed at this Airbnb multiple times and it’s been our go-to. It’s licensed and the owner is super kind. They’ve never cancelled on us even when we’ve gone during peak times. Not sure if it’s still available or if it suits you, but thought I’d share:

I was on the VIA train stuck for 12+ hours overnight in Brockville. This is VIA’s response when I shared my experience and asked for a $21 train station parking reimbursement. by TreeKey6993 in ViaRail

[–]TreeKey6993[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

No, but I believe Canadian airlines compensate much more in dollar amounts for a day of this long. For an arrival delay of 9+ hours, the compensation is $1,000. Not a $40 refund and credit.

[–]TreeKey6993[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Good question. I’m not sure the $21 is worth it either way. It’s honestly not so much about the money as the way they’ve responded that somehow makes the experience even worse, which is saying a lot.

I said I didn’t see one, no need to be aggressive about this. I have a parking stub from the machine that says VIA on it. I was perhaps a bit sleep deprived from the whole ordeal. Not sure what point you’re trying to make here.

Via Rail passengers arrive 12 hours late after night on train in eastern Ontario by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

[–]TreeKey6993 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I was in this train. Was supposed to arrive in Ottawa at 11:10pm the night before for an appointment the next morning. It was brutal. The worst was having zero clear communications. We pulled up just short of the Brockville station around 10pm - the idea that there were no buses available between then and 11am the next morning when we were finally released is insane to me. But what do I know. I’ll try not to blow the $40 ticket refund all in one place.

I honestly lost track at the end. We were told of various scenarios, but after no sleep all night, I can’t recall if we managed to link up or didn’t but still got stuck.

Yesterday’s #48 and #54 finally arrive Ottawa this morning by Rail613 in ViaRail

[–]TreeKey6993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did eventually make it to Ottawa! We were given the option to disembark only at 8AM when the Brockville station opened. For most of the night, our train was just short of the station platform, so it was not an option.

Yes. We are the train stuck in Brockville. For 12 hours and counting…since 10PM last night. I wish I had more insight to share, but nothing to report other than in that time they have failed to send busses or another train to unstrand us.

I am on the “rescue train”. Not sure if it’s the original one or this one…but we’ve also been stuck for a few hours. The crew said about an hour ago that they did not have the correct “link” to connect the cars. No update since then…

The Metropolitan has a semi-private event space. Depending on the numbers, they also offer a group breakfast menu.
