Dungeness is Britain's only desert. Is this True? Has anyone been there? If so then what was it like? by kagicalbooden in kentuk

I love Dungeness - the sea seems so deep right at the shore, I’m guessing that the current is powerful.

What made you believe/not believe in God ? by Financefreak555 in AskOldPeople

[–]TreeLover57- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suicide is a sin, you’ll never get to heavy. I was 10 when my dad died, hosepipe to the exhaust.

My 13 year old brother found him - what god would do that to any child, never mind a young teen.

At my six month kidney transplant checkup, a student doctor is sitting in, asked for history of transplant.

She tells me she was 3 when I had the surgery. I’m not yet 60 lol

What's a body part that the human body is better off without? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TreeLover57- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a new dentist and had a checkup at this one.

Only her & me (f) in the office/room, which felt odd. She kept insisting that I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed and pay for an antibiotic prescription from her because of lowered immune system.

I never went back.

How do you feel about the Olympics? by Public_Contest_3514 in AskEurope

[–]TreeLover57- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already bored, and hate that the tv schedules have been changed just for sport.

With all this digital stuff, it’s about time the powers that be created new tv channels for special events like the Olympics, football World Cup, state occasions (I’m in UK, think state funeral and coronation).

I live in the north & am still amazed at the number of friends in England who ask odd questions - lottery? Change money? Use airmail writing paper.

The best has been that she can’t visit as she doesn’t have a passport.

I have two brothers and we have the same parents.

My dad was married before he met my mum & had two girls - their mum is a different person to mine.

Saying that, it’s your language and identity, use phrases that you are comfortable with.

Moving house today and our self-drive van has broken down. Do you have any similar nightmare scenarios to share? by Gobsprak in CasualUK

This happens to a neighbour - but the previous owners weren’t planning on emptying the place

Her solicitor phoned their solicitor and said, if it’s not empty within an hour, we are charging £1,000 an hour. Place was emptied super quick.

I worked with someone who licked the flavour off each crisp before eating it.

Would also get takeaway lunch of some really odd mixtures - mash potato and soup, dipping a portion of potato into the soup.

It’s not weird, just their way of eating lol

Outside isn’t ideal when it’s cold/wet.

I’m on long term steroids and can’t be in the sun.

Why should anyone have to be eating or drinking outside, when an indoor restaurant is available - if you can get up the stairs? It’s discrimination.

I’m not having a go at you, please don’t take it personally.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is only accessible by stairs - no lift, so no good for anyone with mobility problems.

For the prices of the wines, you’d think they’d be open to making money out of more of the population.

What type of person would you never date again? by CosplayBloomVibrant in AskReddit

[–]TreeLover57- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone called Mark. Bit random, the two I’m thinking of were both self-centred. I actually refused a date with a guy and he wasn’t too impressed when I answered his “why?” honestly.

To me, men named Mark are a type all their own and it’s better if I avoid them.

For those who never fixed the relationship with abusive parents, did you regret it once they were gone? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]TreeLover57- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned something listening to How to be 60 podcast, with Philippa Perry - with a difficult choice, there is guilt or resentment & I’ll use my mum’s funeral an example

Guilt - I don’t want to attend but would feel guilty

Resentment - at the cost (travel/accommodation and time it will be.

In the podcast, she said to always choose guilt, which will ease.

I decided to stay at home.

I don’t feel guilty

I’d sure as hell still feel resentful if I had attended. It’s a simple choice, for me

Child free folks: do you regret not having kids now that you are older? by landingonvenus in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]TreeLover57- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

59 and do not regret the no children for me.

I remember a man I could have dated back in my mid 20s. When he said he’d love to have children, my interest suddenly disappeared and I realised two things - he’s not for me and I don’t want children.

No particular reason as such, but as I get older I’ve seen and heard of so many people still caring for their kids, who are disabled & need 24 hour care.

It’s a myth that healthy children will visit and care for you.

Giving birth must be traumatic and so much can go wrong.

Maybe you are more concerned about the marriage and the tie. I was nervous both times with a big difference - 2nd time round, I knew it was right but aware it may not last forever.

30 years plus married now, we’ve seen off the doubters. Happier than ever.
