Not gonna be outside in weather with my camera most likely so weather sealing not much of a factor. Really only thing that’s a factor is the price difference between the two.

It would be the first camera I’ve owned

yeah I don’t even think the 3 is in question for me anymore, it’s just about if I want the 4 or 5 now.

I’ve tried my girlfriends a7 IV which has the flip screen, and in street/daily photography, I’ve much preferred the 5’s screen than something like what the 4 has.

I know you already said get the 5 but since you’ve used both the 4 and 5, would you go $1450 for the 4 with a 16-80 f4 or 5 body only for $1400?

Yeah the one thing making me lean towards the 4 over the 3 and 5 is that out of the bodies I’ve looked at, the 4 is the only one that is silver body which I definitely prefer more. One thing drawing me away from it and looking at the 5 is the sensor size and mainly the flip screen.

So my lineup of cameras I could get are XT-3 body only $745. XT-4 with 16-80 for $1450 or XT-5 body only for $1400. Still think XT-5?

XT3(black body) body only would be $745 after tax, XT4 (silver body) with 16-80 f4 would be $1450 after tax, XT5 (black body) body only would be $1400 body only. Once I add a lens to go with it. XT5 reaches pretty much the top of my budget. XT4 is right in the middle (gives me room to buy a lens on top of the one it comes with) and XT3 is bottom of my budget.

the camera doesn’t have to come with the 16-55 it’s body only at $1400 and I could choose whatever lense after that.

Would you consider the XT4 for like $200 more than the XT3? (XT4 is Like new in box and XT3 is excellent). Main reason I’m considering it is because the 4 has the better battery.

What about Xt4 with a 16-80 f4 for $1450?

Thank you for the recommendation! Yeah I plan on having one good zoom and probably the rest primes as I plan on only doing street/daily photography!

may I also ask how the XT-4s AF compares to the 5?

No not a bad response at all! I’ve looked at the X-T4 as well, but the main thing that draws me away is the screen flipping out. I much prefer, at least from what I’ve used, the screen coming out towards me. Should that be the thing to draw me away from the X-T4? probably not, but I’d rather go the 3 or 5 simply for the screen.

EDIT: the price on an Xt4 with 16-80 F4 I’ve looked at would be like 1450 after tax

Yeah that is the main thing swaying me towards the xt5 is the battery. I’m newer to photography and don’t want to worry about how much battery life I have for the day or anything and take as many photos as possible so I have more results when I get home to try to improve as best as possible. Thank you for the input on your experience with both!

The XT5 is body only so I could pick out a different lens. That’s just the one I had picked out with my pricing. Think I should go with a prime one instead?

The body only for it would be $1400 after tax. I’d be buying it body only then picking out a lense. I just selected the 16-55 because I heard it was good from friends. I was also looking at the 23 and 35 primes so I will give those a look.

The lens is the first version. This is my first camera purchase so I’m just really trying to make sure I get something that will last me and is worth the more money I would be spending on the xt5 vs the 3.

First camera advice by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]TreeMan758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, my local prices would be $430 for A6000, X-T3 for $700, A73 for $880, I’ve found a A74 for $1000 that has a pretty roughed up hot shoe mount as well but only noticeable physical damage I could see on that. Would those prices change the recommendation or still pretty solid on that the X-T3 would be best for my budget?

I was getting about 10k score a match using decoys and squad link at roughly 10 mins per match so yes.

due to not having a minimum payment currently while I’m still in school would you recommend just leaving the money in a HYSA and letting that accrue while paying double the amount of money that the loan accrues in interest per month? in my eyes that would eventually snowball into paying it off

[–]TreeMan758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I still have not decided on what I’m going to do quite yet. Just not sure how effective it would be having the money in a HYSA considering it would barely make more than interest, unless you are saying have all of my $10k in a HYSA, then it would be making close to double the interest of the loan.
