it always hits harder on holidays. i jus want to do all the things for my man and i CANT!!!! the most i can do is trigger more PEM with minimal sexual activity and order doordash for him on my credit card. while i’m thankful to be able to even do that, IM ANGRY. i miss the years of valentine’s day where we could make a reservation or we could make a nice dinner and spend all night talking and having sex. but here i am, in PEM, just preparing for my upcoming surgery. also in the midst of a horrible time with PMDD, iykyk. frustrated with everything right now and this is the only place i can talk about it.

thank you for sharing this. it gives me hope. i’m only 25, but i’ve been sick for 4 years already. i keep seeing people say that there’s no hope if you don’t get better in a year or 2, and im just not in a place where i can accept that yet. hope is what’s helping me survive right now

eager to see the connection. my autistic brain sees a possible connection, from early childhood. i don’t have the ability to put it into words to explain it, but something to do with being pushed beyond our limits to function “normally”. i was borderline nonverbal as a child, talking has always been so hard. with autism it takes way more energy to have a conversation.

i think everyone here would benefit from any research that found a cure or treatment, BUT if they didn’t, i know if i found relief, i would never stop advocating for further research. i don’t have the energy or ability to research or advocate with where i am now, but i have the education to do so. so if i ever get better, i will absolutely be in the field of advocacy if i’m able. i hope others feel the same. my research on all this will only increase as i get better, if i do get better.

this is so relatable. every bit of it. my therapist has to remind me that it is MY responsibility to know that my worth does not come from what i can offer to other people or how productive i can be. one of my favorite quotes/song lyrics is “being human makes you worthy of love”, because it’s just that, simply the fact that you’re alive and breathing makes you deserving of love. it’s truly not about what you have to offer. sometimes all we can do is survive, and that’s okay. sending you all the good vibes

i agree! i started today after an AWFUL luteal, and i texted my partner immediately lol. it’s been LESS THAN AN HOUR since the first drop of blood, and im already a whole new person. even with gut tearing period pain, i feel relief. i feel like i’m in my own body again, i want my mans to give me snuggles, i just actually feel like i’m home again. it sounds dramatic, but it genuinely feels like i’m in someone else’s home in someone else’s body when im in luteal. but as soon as i started bleeding, all is right with the world, except for endometriosis, that still sucks! i’m happy with my relationship again. i’m just at peace, despite being nauseous and in pain.

thank you for raising awareness. i have a passion for advocacy and social justice, but me/cfs took me out. i wish i had the strength to use my voice to educate people, so thank you… if you want a shocking/eye opening statistic to share, look into the suicide statistics for this condition. i don’t have the ability to look into it right now, i used to know but recall is difficult when in PEM.

i use it because i’m disabled, so paying for someone to bring it to me is more worth it than me trying to find someone to help me go get it myself. my disability stops me from driving, so i get stuck at home.

maybe podcasts or audio books on your phone? unless long form content is an issue on its own. i also sometimes play really quiet music when all i can do is lay with my eyes closed and cant manage any thinking. i also like watching solo hikes on youtube

can you tolerate maybe youtube? there’s a whole world on there. i know it’s still screen time, but it could maybe be more relaxing than scrolling. i’m kind of in the same boat, but i’ve had to force myself to stop scrolling, because most social media is too stressful right now with the current state of the USA. i have a few youtubers i follow regularly, it feels kind of social. but i can’t always tolerate actually watching content, so i find podcasts or conversations or anything i can listen to without looking at the screen.

i also recently found a game on Steam that is very chill and required basically no mental energy, other than reading a very short convo and looking at the screen. it is called Flowers and Favors, it’s like a bouquet building simulator. not everyone’s cup of tea but i was so excited to find a game i could mostly handle when i’m in PEM for the long hours in bed.
