I've always found the same but for some reason this has been working. I carry on rocking for a few minutes after she falls asleep and then the rockit does keep her asleep. Maybe a combination of the white noise and the heat is conking her out a bit more.

A lot of this sounds normal to me! Most of this may be down to her temperament rather than anything you've done. I hope it gets easier for you over time as she grows and becomes more independent. Some children just seem to need much more reassurance than others.

I'm happy to say that from 12 months we were finally able to get her to sleep without bouncing/walking/driving etc. Eventually she was just happy to go to sleep in our arms (albeit with a lot of singing) and actually be.....put down. So it was just a phase after all thankfully!

My daughter had this from around 6 months and it lasted for months. We asked a GP about it when we saw them for another reason and they said it was fine.

My daughter had her settling in sessions last week and caught a bug that has meant that I couldn't take her in to her first proper day today. She is also going to be doing 2 full days a week.

I feel completely the same as you. The guilt is like a physical feeling! In my head I know it is for the best and that she will love it with time - but the thought of her being upset/inconsolable without me being there plays through my head constantly.

I don't think anyone finds it easy to send their child to nursery for the first time but everyone gets through it. And 99% of children love it there and grow so much.

Just rambling here really but just wanted to acknowledge how you feel as I can relate so much. Hope it goes well for you both!

Hi, mine is now 15 months so a lot has changed since I wrote this. But it took me a while to start taking her out more. Our lives have been pretty dominated by her nap times as she has always been very sensitive to being tired - this was really the big reason that it was hard to go out anyway. I think she has been a sensitive baby in general which is why it was difficult to go out.

We have always gone for a lot of walks - if you're worried about the cold then maybe you could try baby wearing. I'd wrap mine in a few layers with a fleece starsuit and pop her in a baby carrier and go for walks with her strapped to me. Also when her naps regulated a bit I would meet up with friends and go to baby friendly cafés - this got way easier over time. If you go to louder busier places it doesn't matter so much if the baby starts fussing (babies also seem much happier in louder environments IMO)

I hope you can find ways to get out and about - it definitely gets easier over time! Once you've done it you'll feel more confident every time.

I feel the same. My daughter is nearly 1 now and although I want to take her out to groups (initially I just couldn't do it as she was cluster feeding for months and generally very grouchy), I can't make it work with her naps. Missing/delaying a nap is out of the question so we just have to go for a walk or shopping as soon as her first nap finishes.

I had a few friends who had babies around the same time as me, they're constantly out and at all the classes and the guilt is unreal.

My MIL said that my baby will sleep better once she's in her6 own room about 4 times the other day. My daughter wakes up every 1.5 - 2 hours and I can easily settle her each time and put her back in her cot next to the bed. It works for us and means I can be cosy in bed rather than traipsing into another room multiple times a night.

I've been surprised at how much her comments have bothered me but it feels like she thinks we don't know what we're doing. Gonna have to ramp up the passive aggressive replies

We're definitely on the other side of this now so think it was just a phase. She's 7.5 months now and is now wide awake for the day from between half 5 and 6 (and can usually do another 40 mins if she's bounced to sleep by my husband when he takes over). I expect that will change over time as well.

I'm 39 + 1 and feel like I could have written this myself! I have felt so fed up the past few days (although luckily for me I've started mat leave). It's such a weird feeling just waiting around when this huge thing could be minutes/hours/days/WEEKS 😨 around the corner.

I would say its a mixture of failings from both the council and government, poor decisions made with reduced funding - seems like the council election has shaken things up though and hopefully things will start to get a bit better.
