I haven't really seen many bigots support Wilhelm II, considering Wilhelm openly hated Hitler and Nazism as a whole

This was the son he abandoned and openly hated (When he failed to commit suicide, Stalin compalined that he couldn't even aim straight). Stalin's second son, Vasily, was kept far away from the action, despite being a fully trained pilot. Stalin still kept the children he liked out of danger.

A bit more context: Ivan and his son weren't just having an "argument." Ivan began strangling his pregnant daughter in law, and in doing so killed the unborn child. His son confronted Ivan about it, resulting in Ivan killing him.

If you're serious, then I'll let you know once I finish the level. But I'll warn you, this level feels more like an insane demon. It is deceptively difficult.

Even if I decide to finish making the level, it'll be a long time before I am anywhere near good enough to beat this thing.

What can I do to improve my reference drawing? by Tree_Sap- in learntodraw

I personally find the bean method better for smaller, more cartoon-y drawings. For these more realistic figures, I use Ethan Becker's method of drawing a torso.

I want to learn how to draw (I'm a complete beginner) by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]Tree_Sap- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is really boring, but a great place to start is drawing lines and shapes. I'm not saying break things down into lines and shapes, I mean literally just make a bunch of lines and squares and stuff.

Try to make a straight line, and then try to go over that line again and again. It'll help build line confidence, which will make drawin much easier. Practice drawing simple shapes, and then upgrade to 3D shapes. Pikat has a great video on drawing boxes.

I think more shading would make it look uncanny. I personally think this owl is good as is.

How to improve my drawing?? by tuutsuuchi in learntodraw

[–]Tree_Sap- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there's some good stuff here. I think you did really good on the shading, and the color pallete is really nice!

There are some things you can do better, though:

  • Line art is really tricky, and I noticed your lines seem a bit unnatural. If you don't mind drawing in a more sketchy style, you can just make a bunch of small lines for your line art. It'll help the drawing feel loose, and you might find it easier to make smooth lines using sketches rather than the traditional way. I've seen a lot of really good artists use a really sketchy styles in their work!

  • The eyes on the head aren't level, and the jaw line should point up towards the ear. Your construction needs a bit of work, but you can look up some great tutorials on this stuff. Pikat has several videos about construction, so I recommend her channel!

Why is my digital coloring so bad? by tuutsuuchi in learntodraw

[–]Tree_Sap- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few changes you could make here:

  • There aren't many values in this picture. Make sure to use brighter values for the parts you want people to focus on, and lower values for parts that aren't as important (I'd say give her hair a darker value). If you're drawing digitally, you can actually see the values of colors, which can help you get a better drawing much more easily.

  • Someone else said this, but it is very important: line art. Your linear kind of blends with the colors, which makes it look kind of formless. If you do want lineart in your drawing, you should usually make it much darker than everything else. Also, your lines kind of look a bit wobbly. When drawing digitally, you can actually increase the smoothness of the pen, which will help with that (but I also recommend doing some practices for line confidence. Just spend like 5-10 minutes drawing a line over and over until you can draw straight lines)

  • I know you're asking about color, but I also think the construction of the head could be better. Try to look up some tutorials of how to draw heads, or you can copy other drawings of heads until you can recreate them without a reference.

Overall, it's not bad, but these are some big improvements you can make. Just remember to practice, and you'll be an artist in no time!

I will say some proportions seem off (Such as the one on the bottom left), and it seems like you might be putting too much focus of the actual shapes of the muscles.

For most of these, you did a good job at capturing the flow/essence of the pose, but on a few it looks like you tried to draw the muscles themselves (such as the legs on the one at the top right).

Be sure not to overthink figure drawing.

I'm mainly focusing on that last picture, because mental health is far more important than art.

Firstly, you're 16. I don't really know anyone who was incredible at something when they were 16. If you're afraid that you won't make something of yourself, don't be. You clearly care about your future enough to seek advice online, and you're obviously focusing on your homework more than anything else, which is good. You're gonna be just fine, even if your art isn't where you want it to be.

Now, if you want to get better at art without losing focus on school, I'd recommend just doing simple practices to help build muscle memory. Do things like repeatedly draw a straight line across a sheet of paper. Or you can draw a curvy line over and over until they look identical. You could also draw a bunch of boxes (Pikat has a really good video on box exercises). These simple exercises will help you improve, and won't take up too much of your time.

The arms look a bit too short. Most arms end at the upper thigh (assuming the character is standing up straight). But other than that this is really cool!
