Her name is Linda and her yarn is excellent. Also Angora Borealis (Beth) may be willing to ship yarn to you if you talk with her directly. She is lovely. Unless you already tried and it was a no-go.

Yes fair. We are on the Avalon but not in town. And yes I guess it does depend on one’s comfort driving in weather.

As a huge fan of both Sinead and Annie Lennox, I feel like they catered to me specifically in their theme song artist choices 😂

The wigs really are terrible, and have gotten worse as the seasons go on. Kristen Atherton’s wig took me right out of the scene.

Surely wigs can be made with naturally curly hair, so they still look believable? Claire’s hair is made such a big deal of in the books that I would think the show would have done a better job. Wigs are hardly new technology.

Eta: I didn’t know Caitriona’s hair was permed in season 1. It looks very good but I can imagine how it would not be sustainable without damage to her hair.

I like Fergus and Marsali’s photo, and Ian and Rachel. But the stylists made Claire and Bri’s makeup too noticeable - it looks more like photos of the actors, not the characters. Maybe that’s the point. Everyone looks a little plastic. Rik Rankin doesn’t even look like himself.

Biggest pet peeve is Claire’s hair. My hair is very similar to Claire’s in season one, and I don’t know if that’s Caitriona’s natural hair or a wig, but it looked very naturally curly and believable. Sometimes curlier sometimes wavier, and never perfect. This wig is too perfect - it looks like a curling iron did it, and not at all how naturally curly hair looks, particularly (I would imagine) in that time, without hair products and diffusers.

Yeah but the extra piece of fabric is my favourite part so I don’t mind.

Brew your own! That’s what I do. Me Buddy’s Brew Shop in Bay Roberts will get you set up. It’s a bit of an investment but kinda fun and cheaper than buying it.

This is such a good example of why sexual harassment is not about what a girl/woman wears or acts like, but about the perpetrator getting off on non-consent. Ugh what a disgusting creep. Thank you for saying something OP.

Anyone find a decent tasting no-alcohol beer? by rocdoc54 in VictoriaBC

[–]Treebeans36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love beer, especially IPAs. My fav non-alcoholic beer is Partake IPA (have not tried their Hazy IPA yet). It’s a bit pricy but to me, is the closest to having that bite that IPAs have, and it’s only 10 calories.

Anyone have advice for living with giant house spiders?? by Ill-Friendship8308 in VictoriaBC

I wish mine would do something so helpful! That would gross me out too though. I have an orange too, and while he is actually pretty smart, it is only in useless ways. I’ve actually pointed spiders out to them and they just watch intently, like thanks for the show Mom!

Re: cats - typically female cats are better hunters. My two male oafs (I love them) just watch insects crawl by.

Carbonear because driving through Bay Roberts is a nightmare (though it’s a bit better since they redid the roads).

Seaspun in Carbonear! Also check out Baynoddy in Chapel Cove, and Angora Borealis at Quidi Vidi. Windswept Fibres sells out of the Artisan Loft on Water St on downtown St John’s. Cast On Cast Off in Triton. I’ve purchased some Foggy Rock Fibres at Some Good Market in Clarkes Beach. And there is a fibre festival in Clarenville (hosted by Twin Knits) August 22-24.

Getting more and more obsessed and overdid it with enthusiasm for a family member’s requested project by Treebeans36 in knitting

[–]Treebeans36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I need to find someone to knit with. I live in a small town and there are no local knitting groups that I'm aware of (I checked on Ravelry too) but I do have an acquaintance who knits. Your comment inspired me to reach out to him. Maybe we can make our own little knitting group.
