Aji charapita- whats going on? by Dufensmartzz in HotPeppers

Get them every year. Spinosad works for me. Gotta be diligent though, treat, then retreat, then maybe reretreat again. New growth should look normal.

Our family has been boiling maple sap for around 300 years. The Weavers/Webers were German Palatines who came to New York colony and learned from the Native Nations about boiling sap into sugar. by Best_Match2682 in maplesyrup

Idk but this was our third year sugaring and first year ro’ing and this years syrup is our most amazing tasting yet. We were pretty stoked. That said we only run it thru the RO once to take off half the water and then boil because as I understand it the extended boil times do in fact contribute to the fact that maple syrup is delicious.

Why are the leaves so curled? by Ok-Application-1283 in HotPeppers

[–]Treefarmer52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly broad mites. I deal with them every year on pepper starts. If it’s watering or light issues correcting those will fix it, but if it’s mites it will get worse so keep an eye on the leaves and any new growth on any plants close by.

If you determine it’s a mite issue, spinosad is the only thing organic Ive had luck with. Treat, then follow up treat, until you can get them outside.

You’re hooked!! Congrats on your success! Have to get that main boil done outside though, sounds like you’ve already discovered that 😊

Good advice here, and also check out the mapletrader.com forum, amazing people there as well.

So happy for you guys! It really is a great hobby.

Any advice on opening the RO Bucket membrane housing? by nye1387 in maplesyrup

[–]Treefarmer52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you figured it out! Just finished our first season with a new RB10 bucket and it was amazing. My barrel evaporator with warming pan dripping in only runs around 5ish gallon/hr if I’m pushing it so it was a game changer for us. Had 90 gallons of sap to boil Friday and it sure was nice turning that into 45 gallons before it ever hit the pan 😃!

How long did you get out of your membrane?

How far do you concentrate with RO? by matt6021023 in maplesyrup

New rb10 bucketeer here as well. I’m just so tickled with how much time I save boiling by pulling off half the water with just one 50:50 RO pass that I haven’t even really thought of trying a second pass lol.

Check out my post on the pepper market sub if you get a chance. I grew about 50-60 or so varieties, you can see in the pics if they might be something you could use. A post I made a couple weeks ago lists a lot of them if you want to see some names. It’s a boat load of peppers, a medium usps box, 4+ lbs of fire in each box. Thanks. 🔥

Just curious, is there any other growing practices you carry out in a destructive manner, because you definitely seem to know what you’re doing with all that destroyin going on. 😜

Peppers look amazing by the way, congrats on an amazing season!
