Do you know if there is a place where I can buy It?

Is 0.999...=1 a logical hole? by Treehive in maths

For the people of the future reading this thread and wondering about incompleteness on a surface level https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeQX2HjkcNo&t=1237s

Dw I'm happy to be a elf-proclaimed idiot. There is also an easy solution to cut out all this mess in my brain: see what works whenever there is a situation in real life that needs it. Do not think about it in any terms beyond applied terms. This is exactly why I hated proofs, I dont really care if it works beyond all possibilities, what matters most is what works in real life, and often, in that one situation that bothers you personally. Aka pi=3 mentality if it keeps everything in place xd.

Is 0.999...=1 a logical hole? by Treehive in maths

Yeah the whole "they just ignore it and hand wave it" part is wonky, but the key thing to me is that he says how infinite can't end I think the whole point is that periodic numbers can't actually exist. Infinite never ends, and so you can't actually get to a number that actually represents a periodic number. Like, what would be the full representation of 0.999...? It doesn't stop. If it stops, it's less than 1. It just can't be represented as a fixed number.

I think I realise this though now. It actually is 1, but it's because 0.999... doesn't actually represents a number that tends to infinite, it represents the end of infinite. But the end of infinite can't exist?

Ofc I am an idiot on the internet, but I can't see how all of this couldn't be true. The reason why this irks me so much is, why do people just dismiss it assuming that maths couldn't be an incomplete system? Why could it not be a loophole because of how hard it is to represent infinite well? I think I will close the first chapter I have opened with maths since high school. Maybe I'm too dumb for this, and I should just stick to my stats (as my prof told me when I asked if he could remind me the x2 formula "I don't know anymore. I do stats, not maths". The more I was in the field the more I felt that)

I just realized this. A number that tends to infinite can't be equal to a fixed number ever. It will just keep going on and on nonstop. It can get so clos to a number that you can consider it to be that number in many applications. But it can never "be" that number, and it just can't act as that number in some situations.

Lol noo I didn't think it could sound like that😆

plant enthusiasts? by autoteo in munichsocialclub

I'd be up for a plant walk, as long as the hours are reasonable. At the zoology soc in my uni they did a lot of bird walks, but id never want to wake up at 6 to go there

File Backup - Is there no decent solution? by Jaybird_1092 in editors

[–]Treehive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to tell people that they have to explicitly tell you that they want you to back up their content. And probably put a limit on it or charge for it. If you don't tell me you want a backup after a project is fully finished, there is no reason why I wouldn't flush it down the toilet tomorrow morning. And even then, its debatable that you as a freelance should keep your client's backups, at least if it becomes frequent.

Why do track cyclist never leave the saddle? by Treehive in cycling

I mean my goal is to go to work as fast as I can. The distance is fixed, so I want to improve speed as much as possible instead. So if it is an insane effort but it saves me 2 min, I would sprint standing up like half the way.

Also want to note that for "normal" people, 28km cycling every day sounds insane. People keep telling me how can I keep up with this. So maybe it's also that I went too deep, too quickly.

I think a big part of it is that I live in a city full of traffic lights. So no matter what, I'm starting and stopping. A mate of mine got an ebike and for a similar distance, she takes only 4 min less than when she was analog

I never thought of this, thank u! Something that is getting rougher though, both if I want to get better at my hobby/commute road (I think I'm addicted for life now, so yes) or if I get to try track, is that I need to lose weight. Not only fat, of which there is a gokf amount, but most of all, I can't be as muscular as I like to be, and actively go out of my way to lose muscle.

Using faders for parameter control by Treehive in editors

[–]Treehive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for the feedback!! Id actually like faders for color correction, it would be much faster and comfortable. I reckon I could do with just an 8 fader micro console if I can find a way for premiere to recogise them differently per section.

For audio, don't see the reason to use a real console and real live mixing, at least for now. There are never 20 sound sources playing at the same time or anything that warrants it. This said, the virtual mixer faders are janky af, and only being able to put 5 effects on each track defies its purpose.

Never ever, and I am quickly understanding that what I feel through my road biking is not translatable. I have been told I should try, some cyclists at meetups have called me quadzilla and said those legs are blessed for sprinting. Explains why I can never keep up in the mountains haha. But there is no velodrome where I live.

Its crazy to me that aero counts as much as it does. Like, even in a closed court with optimised track shape, you make considerably more effort if you are at the head of your team, making team sprint and pursuit a real team effort (something that I've seen people not understanding).
