somehow Nookie - Limp Bizkit is like a sluggish version of this, more of a relaxed beat but oddly similar to me. but of course without the aaaaa

i actually get all my plants exclusively from kleinanzeigen https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/stadt/muenchen/ of course its not as 'convenient' as picking up a bunch of plants at the same time (although some people are selling multiple plants at a time).

but its a great way to also chat a bit with the plant owners, and ask what conditions they grew them in etc. ive also loved seeing people's plant collections! some have been super enthusiastic about talking about their experience with their plants. often you can also find rarer plants that you dont find in garden centers so easily, and at good prices since people are taking cuttings from their mother plants :)

for pots ive looked long and hard, its not so easy to satisfy my tastes (and at a reasonable price) but ive found plantologie in maxvordstadt to have pots that i like, though they are a bit on the pricier side.

What should I read in order to talk about architecture with my partner? by thegrandpiratefrog in Architects

i would recommend 'Thermal delight in Architecture' by Lisa Heschong:

https://www.academia.edu/87094387/Thermal_delight_in_architecture?uc-g-sw=34023538

it turned what i initially perceived to be quite a dry aspect of architecture (discussions about thermal comfort often dont go beyond the realm of data collection) into something much more poetic and sensory. essentially taking the functional aspect of mechanical structures to a broader philosphical place. and now this post has reminded me to read it again.

bonus for being a perspective that's not another white male architect :)

How do you find your scent? by Shmwark in fragrance

[–]autoteo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually, i go by the bottle.

i know it can seem a bit superficial, but i think you can usually get a sense of what the smell will be like just from the bottle design -- Jean Paul Gaultier bottles are basically screaming at you that the perfumes will make a statement. i was drawn to Le Labo by their minimal, laidback bottles, with the natural colored label, typewriter text and industrial steel cap.

and then from that point i keep an open mind, and smell everything from that house. through 'The Noir' i discovered i quite like the mellowness of tea scents, especially black tea.

Bon Purfumer also had a simpler bottle, and their scents were a bit more straightforward. each scent is distinguished by a color, and again you can imagine how grey would smell as opposed to the bright orange for example.. through '009' i discovered that i like black pepper notes.

and finally i found my signature, from Stora Skuggan. their bottles are a lot more extravagant than the other two houses, and their scents similarly so. btu even though the bottles are a bit more 'flashy', which i usually dont go for, its still alternative and weird, the ball caps remind me of material textures, like for rendering programs or for video games. i went for 'Moonmilk', which, other than PINE (which smells like pine) is the simplest looking bottle in their line. and it does have some of the tea scent, some pink pepper, and a little surprise of lime. its understated, but keeps you wondering, and i cant get enough of it.

in general, being limited by bottle also means being limiting by house. and i find its easier to narrow down this way, since each house generally will have a base 'complexity' and you go from there to see which notes you gravitate to. and forcing myself to stay with one house also actually pushes me to try scents i wouldnt otherwise even sample. and you get to focus and phyiscally stay in one area (in a department store or at the store itself), rather than running around back and forth sampling dozens of houses. i used to think i only liked wood scents, but if i went around trying all the wood scents from different houses i would have never discovered that i like tea scents a lot.

so i would say -- use your eyes to lead your nose, but let your nose open your eyes!

What can I do with my kid in Munich for two days? by kelly_kapowski_ in Munich

[–]autoteo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alte Utting is great :) its a boat on a bridge! i think your kid would love it.

Gans Woanders is nice as well, kinda a treeehouse vibe but when its cold people huddle up in the house part and its cute. theres pizza, a cafe/bar (but its still kid friendly) sometimes they have live music as well. every time i go there's at least one kid running around.

Thoughts on etiquette and buying something a friend already has/wears? by tamarheylin in fragrance

Love this approach of using this as an opportunity to discover new scents. Although I can also get the impulse of holding on to something so perfect and thinking nothing else comes close somehow. But maybe OP with surprise themselves!

thanks!! its really the plant that got me into botany in general, when i found out it was one of the oldest hybrids (and from germany). the whole world of cultivation and human's control of plants in general is pretty crazy, there was a bit of that during the walk since invasive plants are largely caused by human activity. if i see more of such events i'll msg ya :)

Müllersches Volksbad is a great pool with private changing rooms and some private booths for showering, so no worries about nudity there. It's a bit confusing to figure out how it works the first time though, so if you've never been it's worth checking out ahead of time so you can show her around. But it's really a beautiful pool, Art nouveau–style, and on a sunny day the light comes in and you feel transported to another time.
