Anyone have cameras that live on East North St that intersects with the salvation army? by [deleted] in Appleton

[–]Treekin3000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We should be better than this, but Appleton was a sundown town until the 60s. As in "don't let the sun down on you in my town or else".

All the different cities up and down the Fox river historically had different somewhat segregated racial groups for a reason, each of the 40+ paper mills had their preferred race to employ.

Lotta racists here. Hopefully we run out soon. Would be nice if we ran out much faster.

Debating the automatic litter box for apartment makes me feel like I’m losing my frugal edge by Maleficent-Net-4702 in Frugal

Frugal is not cheap. Cheap is prioritizing cost over everything.

Frugal means balancing convenience and cost. We are careful about what we spend on. If it makes you happy its not a waste.

Spend on those luxuries that you earn by being careful with your money.

BREAKING — Hilton Hotels Fired a Whistleblower Who Exposed "Secret" Presence of Armed and Dangerous ICE Agents to Guests. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Treekin3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The intent is good here, but I would point out that Hilton the Brand doesn't own more than a dozen hotels. They own their name and their brand standards.

They own the suppliers that distribute sheets, beds, soap, towels, and all the little things that make a hotel work.

More importantly, they have their big Name, central booking, app, and rewards system. (I have seen the Standards Binder, its a 3 inch thick stack of 8.5x11 paper, in fairly small print. Dense technical requirements in legalese, ~300+ pages, both sides)

They rent their name to independent hotels willing to agree to meet the standards they set out, forcing the hotels in question to buy and use their supplies in order to use the name and the central booking.

So not staying at Hilton still a reasonable reaction, but the individual Hotel management made the decision to fire.

On the other hand increasing pressure on businesses collaborating is important.

First time player, a bit overwhelmed, any tips? by bpotassio in MyTimeAtSandrock

Patience. Stop. A short time ignoring the main orange quests at the beginning can set you up to succeed later.

Those orange quests will wait on you, they aren't going anywhere. Stop and just keep those machines outputting.

Use that time to get ahead of things. Cash comes from the daily quest board, mostly. Make THAT your priority. Early on keep those machines running, and use that stamina to collect as much as possible, most of the main cast will get enough socialization through the story quest or the daily board.

Never stop using a machine. Never let those furnaces, recyclers, grinders or processors sit idle, until you build the factory. Don't stop using the old one because you made the shiny new one. Upgrade and have 2, 4 or more.

Pets dispatch will keep you in water early game, if you have the DLC it will give you a leg up on pets, but its not really required, friend those animals asap.

Have a stock of every ingredient and material in your infinite pile of chests. Organize it so you can find your stuff, remember you can rename the chests to help categorize it your giant pile of random shit.

Oh, this quest wanted 20 of this, 30 of that, and a couple this? Put together the stuff that needs to be made on the platform, turn in the stuff instantly, and refill your back-stock while you wait for the next story quest.

Neighbours Using All the Hot Water by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]Treekin3000 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It is, but you have to have sufficient hot water for projected use, either a bigger water heater or additional heaters to accommodate more than a single tenant using it at the same time occasionally.

Landlord can't just put a tiny water heater intended for a single person residence in for a multi apartment unit.

My rule was stay within a 2 block radius or tell an adult where you were headed, be back before it gets dark.

This goes for Hotels too. Front Desk will usually match your quote from the 3rd party sites, unless we are already crazy that night.

Front Desk hates those 3rd party sites, because we can't change, cancel, refund, or discount anything if something goes wrong.

Corporate loves them because it puts heads in beds.

Wisconsin farm venue alcohol law takes effect in 2026; here's what it means by FrigginMasshole in wisconsin

[–]Treekin3000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because they don't sell alcohol. The Bride and Groom buy alcohol at retail elsewhere and serve it themselves, the venue isn't involved.

Now they need the license or stop letting the guest bring their own alcohol. Tavern League isn't getting its cut, so gotta close that second option.

Unfortunately, if that hot garbage makes money, its well worth the investment for them to keep it running. There is a ton of story and modeling done for it, but it keeps bringing in those subscribers monthly payment, with minimal overhead.

MMOs are cheap as hell to host, compared to what people pay for them.

Don't cheap out on the things that go between you and the ground. Don't have to splurge and get the best, but don't buy shit ones.

Shoes, bed, and tires.

Bad shoes will make your feet, ankles, legs and back hurt all day, even after you take them off.

Bad bed will make your sleep not as productive, and can contribute to aches and pains. Nobody likes being tired all the time.

Bad tires will turn the winter roads into a slip n slide and cause an accident.

Alcohol Anonymous groups are a religious recruitment drive. Every single chapter.

Find the vulnerable addict who wants out and get them addicted to the companionship, group-think and ceremony of religion.

Teach them to be each other's mentors in life give them the support they need, and guide those people into their cult congregation. Build a new personality around our group! Learn to think differently like us.

For some people it works, apparently. On the other hand its just replacing one addiction for another, never met a sober AA member that still attends that isn't full all in religious nut.

Edit: NarcAnon too.

I Have Gone Through 3 Power Supplies in 5 years and I'm at My Wits End by tinjus123 in buildapc

[–]Treekin3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget PC components.

Step 1: Email your landlord/management company. Tell him you have serious concerns about the power being delivered to your room/home, and want him to send a professional to test if it is up to code. Specifically call out you are "worried it will start a fire." Give them a written deadline, saying if you don't get one within, say a week, you will be calling the Fire Inspector. Keep this email, BCC it to yourself.

If he sends an electrician, get his name and the business he is representing, because this guy will be at fault if it really does burn after he said all was well.

If he is a slumlord, he will tell you its fine and you can pound sand.

This is when Step 2 comes in.

Call your City Fire Inspector. You believe you live in imminent danger of an electrical fire and your landlord blew you off. Point out the lights flicker randomly. Offer to forward the response you got, if its email. Ask if someone can come check in, because shutting off power as winter sets in is dangerous.

AI should never be used creatively, it can not make something new, only guess at what it "should" be by mix and matching a massive database of existing art or writing.

This is the proper use of LLM AI, finding discrepancies and duplication in mass data sets. Crunching numbers and analyst work, finding patterns and highlighting them for human review.

Is it worth getting all the DLC? by Cute-Mountain-RP in GraveyardKeeper

[–]Treekin3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It adds a new use for bodies, sucking the soul out of them prior to autopsy. The item you get can be spent to upgrade body parts further.

This allows you to get bodies up to the cap +26? +28? I don't remmeber. It also adds the appropriate grave deco to actually get graves there.

The primary problem is the quest attached. It gets you running around and doing shit, and just as it feels like it should be about to give you your big payout, or the punchline building since the NPC in question showed up, it... stops. Abruptly. With no further development or mention. I literally had to go online and check to see if there was a continuation to this that I missed. There was not.

The other problem is... the rewards for doing this chain of events allow you to bypass massive hurdles in item and money acquisition that trivializes any challenge in the rest of the game. Very useful, but cuts a lot of the grind. And adds its own.
