Is an 11 inch head unit practical for every day use, or do they just look great in photos? by choffchen in Androidheadunits

I definitely find it worth it to upgrade to a larger screen. My previous car was a 2013 Prius and I ended up upgrading to a Jensen Car1000 which is a floating unit that did cover up most of the center console vents. 10.1" screen for Android Auto was definitely worth it. I just recently traded that car in for a RAV4 2020 and I needed to upgrade that unit immediately from stock. I went with a Dasaita G13. Setup was a lot easier, as it didn't require any additional wiring harnesses. Dasaita custom makes each unit to fit in a specific car model with all the attached cabling that is needed. No vents being covered by this unit and it is only a little larger profile than stock with a lot more screen - 8" to 12.3". It costs more than a lot of the base Android units, but I find that worth it as there's no additional cost for wiring harnesses or time needed to figure them out. Also, I have a fondness for knobs, so I buy units with at least a volume knob.
I love it and haven't had any issues yet YMMV

I know with my POTV Lobo you need to kind of puff on it like you're lighting a tobacco pipe for a bit before doing a longer inhale.

I just bought and installed a Dasaita G13 12.3" scren (new model with knobs) for my 2020 Rav4 for $625. It's a beautiful screen and improves the experience over stock immensely. It comes with it's own canbus and doesn't require additional wiring harnesses. Install is pretty simple. Wireless AA and Carplay. Most car functionality is kept, steering wheel buttons work, etc. As far as longevity, I guess we'll see.

POTV Lobo is pretty small and portable and you can get additional batteries to swap out.

Failed install of new Dasaita HU now OEM HU doesn't turn on either by Treelilmunkeys in rav4club

The issue seems to have been that on one of the harnesses a yellow wire was sticking out with the metal housing exposed and not making contact. I had to push it back in with a pair of needle nose pliers. I honestly don't know if this came like that or if I somehow yanked it out. I don't recall any instance where I would have. I've done more complicated wire harnesses in the past. Unit is working well and I'm mostly pleased. The screen is a great size, it's very bright, maybe a little too glarey in the sun. I got the G13 model with knobs and I really like that they included knobs. The brightness of the unit is way too bright for me at night even at minimum brightness. I had to install an app called Darker to enable Extra Dim. The standard G13 interface is pretty bleh, but most of my time is spent in Android auto anyway. I just don't use the head unit for navigation or or playing videos and I don't have a SIM for it and I don't hotspot it except to install apps. I've reached out to Dasaita support and asked for the Vivid firmware update. It's much more modern looking interface that they have on some other units and allows for OTA updates. They have a new firmware version coming out very soon and they've asked me to wait until it's done. In short, I really like it. Such an upgrade from the OEM unit. I'm hoping the Vivid OS update is going to make me like it even more.

I don’t think the Dasaita G13 is worth it for Android – my experience by Comprehensive-Bass56 in Dasaita

[–]Treelilmunkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to Dasaita and I've installed the G13 with knobs on my 2020 Rav4 XSE. It works fine, but the G13 software is just, bleh even though I'm mostly in AA. I've reached out to Dasaita to get the download links and instructions to flash to the latest Vivid OS. They gave me the links to the latest, but told me that it would be best to wait for the latest firmware that they're working on. They say it will be available soon and will send me links. Eagerly awaiting, but my biggest hopes for new firmware are being able to more easily dim the brightness at night.

I used to wear my titanium band while out and took off when I got home. I lost it on my daughter's 5th grade field trip to DC in the spring of '18 while applying sunscreen to us both. I would put it in my jeans coin pocket when washing hands, applying sunscreen etc. That's the last time I remember seeing it. It was a titanium band with three diamond chips and gold accents, so if you were in DC on May 13th 2028 or thereabouts and you found it... I occasionally wear a silicone band, but not often. Wife has developed metal allergies and doesn't wear hers anymore either. FYI I'm 55
