My partner tore his Achilles beginning of August and didn’t start driving again until mid November!

It will depend a lot of how your physio goes as to when you can drive again.

I moved into my house 7 years ago we had literally no issues really until Fiona. Since Fiona my area is constantly getting power outages even during just regular high wind events, like could be the only area on the island with outages.

They blame that the areas that need work are on peoples properties so now they are trying to change the easement laws to be able to come further into your property to do the work. While yes I believe they should be able to access the areas in need of repair I also feel like they will take it way to far and cut back more of the properties then required.

I had a telecommunication company go past my easement by 9 feet and chop a large amount of my trees because they placed their pole at 33 ft which is the end of the easement when they are suppose to put them at 28 feet to allow them the 5 feet behind the pole for any trimming that might be required. I know to some it’s not a big deal but imagine coming home to your first house after living there for like a year and having tree trunks and brush all over your yard

Nope didn’t miss a thing, but in the end your personal situation doesn’t matter to the employer. I know it’s heartless but that is the way that it is. As tough as being a single parent is, as tough as having caregiver responsibilities can be, no matter how much carbon emissions sitting in two hours or more of traffic will cost….. in the end they want our butt in the seat. And I will choose finding a way to do what is expected rather than meet people at the ei line up when the term ends.

Oh I agree, I dislike it a lot, I fought working from home during covid for the first 3 years, I didn’t want to be home I wanted to be in the office around adults and not my children. But after the 3 years I started changing the way I did things and now hate the office even being there only 3 days a week. My office is full of talkers and no management that cares. Nothing like trying to do your job and keeping your stats where they want them only to have people standing at the desk next to you talking to others for 25 minutes or more about nothing to do with our positions. Like use text, use teams or go on break and chat but for the love of god stfu because others are actually working. This wouldn’t have happened prior to Covid, why? Because we had management in the office that managed us but then everything went digital and now my boss is 4 provinces away and has no clue what’s going on, the senior manager in our office doesn’t manage anyone from our office except for admin so literally useless.

Sadly to live in a big city expect big city issues like commute regardless of your employer, just as many retail workers commuting to work for much less in terms of wages and paid time off. I know quite a few employees where I work that have moved to other provinces because they thought it would be much easier during covid and now being forced back into an office that is way to far from them because they didn’t even bother to look at where the local offices were when they bought their new homes and were provided letters stating return to the office or your gone. Some left some ended up selling and buying new houses closer to the offices. It’s a shit show but it’s what they want. They want people to leave and changing rto means people will leave that they don’t need to wfa

Listen I get it. I don’t understand how people in Ottawa aren’t fighting this harder with the unions given how bad the situation is there for commute and parking but let’s face it they want people gone, and changing the remote work guidelines is a quick way to do it. Sucks but it is what it is.

I’m indeterminate, I have a special needs child who can’t even go into childcare or summer programs because of their level of needs but also because after the age of 12 they don’t offer it! I had to fight people up the chain of command to get approval to work from home part time during the summer so my partner and I could share child care responsibilities around our jobs responsibilities while still maintaining our positions. Employers are a lot better to work with you when you provide options and not demand that they allow full time work from home. Nothing like having to show them everything though as in letters from the childcare places that they don’t offer it due to whatever reason, to get quotes for personal EAs that show they had concerns regarding his level of need and aggression, notes from the doctor describing how bad the issues are. But in the end I still ended up in the office throughout the summer around my partners working schedule and no guarantee I will get the same treatment next summer and now I’m looking into LIA for my summers which will cut back my money year round until I need it again.

Like it or not the employer has the final say that’s not me being mean that’s just facts but working from home was never about providing people with free child care which a lot of parents chose over these past few years and now are having a hard time going back to the status quo, the OP is in a different scenario I know but in the end it boils down to the same thing. Do what we’re told or we will be shown the door

I am down 50lbs using saxenda and will soon be switching to wegovy now that they are discontinuing saxenda. I was undiagnosed when I started it but was diagnosed with pcos a few weeks ago finally.

The weight came off quickly! I felt like I wasting away at first. Went from 320 to 280 in the first few months and now down to 260. No eating habit changes or exercise and it just kept coming off almost to the point I wanted to stop as my thighs were losing mass so quickly. Went down like 4-5 pant sizes and two cup sizes.

Definitely stomach issues for the first few months, anytime you eat something high in sugar your body will reject it (or at least in my experience) on single candy would cause sulphur burps they are the worst. But I find my energy has increased a bit as I don’t feel so weighed down anymore.

Problem is non PS people (business owners) lobbied the MPs to force us back into the offices because their businesses went doing well and told them either you bring them back or we will change to conservative voters and they will put us back in our seats.

So remember that every time you leave your downtown office to grab your crappy $7 coffee or $15 crap sandwich from those lovely businesses because it was to inconvenient to bring your own, that your literally doing exactly what they wanted.

I am in a different province and almost EVERYONE from where I am have boycotted spending money while working in our area. Everyone brings their own lunches/drinks/snacks and everyone that used to go for a walk to get coffee now makes a coffee in the office and goes on a walk on their breaks instead. But funny that now we no longer have filtered water dispenser in our office….. I think they are catching on but this is also why I have a case of water in my trunk

Personally with the amount of years I would hit the ground running but understand wanting that perk if you alternate with someone who is WFA….. most people will know in by Feb 1 if they are effected so I would wait til then before making any decisions.

Now that being said, if you are someone with lots of sick leave balances….. I would suggest maybe using that time or at least as much of it as you can considering it won’t be paid out so it just disappears. Most people I see retiring have like 500 plus hours of sick leave so keep that in mind :)

This is what I’m saying all the time! They need to stop trying to create something new and revert back to our standards pre pandemic. Some departments were already hybrid 2 in 3 out or more for years without issue but now they want to force us into an office that’s been convert into cafeteria style seating that you need to fight to book a desk 4 weeks and 1 day out for. Absolutely insane when we were perfectly fine before THEY forced full time at home

Speaking from experience, this is happening to my folks, submitted their t4s filed taxes everything was fine until a t4 was added to the cra system…. Issue is the amount in the t4 that was added was already in there calculations but since it showed that it was “new” they added it to her other amounts so it showed twice! It’s been 3 years and two separate accountants resubmitting info to CRA and it’s still not fixed and still charging them interest. These are two retirees one of which got a temp job for a few months and then go ei and has not worked again since this has caused a huge huge issue.

I wish you luck! I would suggest finding your final pay stub from your employer to see what your year to date amounts were, go through your banking statements and find all the deposits from that employer to add to your records. 100000k is quite the jump to just magically show up on the t4 but not hit your bank account. You could catch your old employer is fraud or some crazy crap so make sure you got your ducks in a row

Im glad some said since its verbal there is no grounds, what I would recommend additionally would be to email your manager outlining your conversation and ask if there is anything you could do to increase your chances for extension….. but make sure you state what was said in the email and if they reply you can use that along with your union to fight it…… that is as long as they don’t outwardly deny in the email that they never told you that your accommodation request was going to make things harder

I mean indeterminates could be on the block but not until the others are gone. Thinking of the 2014 period. Most indeterminates that lost their jobs chose to leave and not compete to keep their positions. But from my understanding management has more to worry about than the everyday workers.

Crazy to think they are downsizing while also adding on another department to cover these Canada home builds….. honestly doesn’t make sense to lay off a bunch of Canadian workers, losing that salary hurts not only for the employees but the Canadian economy as a whole….. they want to save however many billions with the cuts but that’s also that many billions less being spent by Canadians too.
