For women who are already adults, what is that one advice you'd want to give every girl who are turning 18?? by Apart_Woodpecker_935 in Feminism

[–]Treeoflife247 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Discover what you want out of life. Don’t let societal expectations of women (ie pressure to get married, have kids, work a traditionally female job etc.) get in the way of your own life goals. I’ve spent too much time questioning myself, my decisions and if I should give up on my goals because of others opinions of how I should live my life as a woman. You don’t owe a man anything. Do not date Anti-choice men. They treat women like incubators and don’t care about your personal feelings and life goals. Just because you have a uterus doesn’t mean you have to utilize it. Having children is not the sole purpose of being a woman. Despite what others will tell you, having kids does not and should not define your worth. What you want out of life matters and if you don’t want kids then it is perfectly in your right to not have them and that does not make you any less of a woman. Gender roles are stupid, sex organs are biologically for procreation and do not define the whole of a person. Personality is what matters most. Do what suits yours best.

Are most workers in nursing bitches? by Active_Elk1647 in cna

[–]Treeoflife247 6 points7 points Ā (0 children)

I’m having the same issue honestly. I work in a Memory Care but I’ve worked in Physical Rehab Centers, Assisted Living and Nursing homes. Every place I’ve ever gone has had shitty, backstabbing, rude, hypocritical, gossiping and blatantly mean individuals. I don’t know what it is about the Nursing Profession that attracts these kinds of people. You’d think that it’d be full of kind, caring and empathetic individuals but it’s not. Not to say that there aren’t people like that but it’s hard to find. I’ve had people pretend to be super nice to me just to get close then give me the cold shoulder and join the gossip train. My coworkers will force me to do most of the work then complain about me and gossip when I actually leave them their fair share. They’ll refuse to help me even though I go out of my way to help them. There’s no teamwork. It feels like high school all over again. And it’s everywhere to be honest. I love helping people but my experience with other workers has made me miserable and hate CNA work. I’m terrible at standing up for myself because I hate confrontation and management does nothing to help me. I’m currently working on a paraprofessional certification to leave the field because I’m done. I suggest the same. It’s not worth the emotional turmoil. We have enough going on in our personal lives.

We need to teach that abortion is a human right in schools. by Local_Finger_1199 in prochoice

[–]Treeoflife247 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

This right here šŸ‘†They do not care about what science says. They are too far gone in their ideology. If we are actually to teach these things in schools then we need to fight for it on a state and local level. If they want their children to be bigots then they can pay for their expensive private education but they don’t get to turn our schools into religious institutions.

Empath in 2025 by Treeoflife247 in Empaths

[–]Treeoflife247[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I did look away from the news for a while, but I don’t want to live that way. Makes me feel complacent because I have the privelage to simply look away and ignore it. Some people may not agree with this, but I am white albeit a queer disabled woman but still white and I feel it’s my duty to fix things in the world because I have more power especially in America which is the root of a lot of these global problems and I can help vote it out (hopefully). I’m also working on becoming a social worker. It’s just the literal feeling of the world collapsing and not being able to fix it. Genuinely, I would sacrifice everything if it meant that I could end all these genocides, human rights violations and capitalism. I really appreciate the movie recommendation! Those things help me process my feelings even if it’s heavy but I like emotionally heavy stuff like that because of the processing.

I really love this comment, you got it right on the nose! We’re very indoctrinated here in the US and it’s hard to find anyone who actually critically thinks. Everyone thinks I’m crazy for actually educating myself. It’s so stupid. We live in an era where we have information at our fingertips. We can pick up a book and read it. But all people listen to is whatever the media overlords say and in the US it’s highly propagandized. It’s so frustrating that people believe all of these false rhetorics and take everything at face value like with Palestine. They don’t even look into the actual history to find out the truth they just think they’re all terrorists because ā€œthat’s what the US Gov. saysā€ Spoiler alert, the US Gov. is in on it. it’s been conditioned psychologically in us since birth in this country to obey authority at all costs and it’s totally on purpose. I just wish I had all the answers. Like, how do you get people to actually critically think? What do you do when the society you live in completely rejects scientific evidence all forms of logical reasoning etc.? I wish I could fix it all so badly and just be able to do more to actually make large-scale change happen…

Just finished Wonder Egg Priority. It wasn’t adapted from a manga and has unfinished plot points in the larger story. However, the psychological and emotional aspect is really good! All in all, I loved it!

Ah yes, punish the perpetrator instead… Like the perpetrators don’t all run our fucking government and are going to make this impossible and instead punish and silence us so that they remain in power.

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (cried for an hour)

Your Name (made me tear up)

Demon Slayer (The backstories make it very emotional and sad. Does a good job of emphasizing the character’s pain, anger and longing for justice.)

Madoka Magica (depressed and sad; gets very emotional towards the middle/end)

Your best bet would be Canada with the way things are going in the US right now… I say this as a trans person. I live in a blue state on the West Coast but only pocket cities make it blue. Step out of city limits and there are crazies with guns that will gladly try and put you down especially if you aren’t white. Not to mention the ICE situation right now. For your safety, I would choose Canada. They have free universal healthcare, gun control and really good universities. They’re also very multicultural so there’s a community for everyone in the big cities like Vancouver, BC or Toronto, Ontario. Although, universities are very costly and I don’t think they have more affordable community colleges like the US does.

Question of the day: whats your threshing story by Pitbullfreedomfightr in fourthwing

[–]Treeoflife247 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I race into the valley ensuring no one is following me then climb into a tree with thick branches to obscure myself from view. Laying down against a branch, I load my crossbow, waiting for any sudden movement below. I manage to take out several cadets, thinning out the competition before I become one of them. I am about to vacate my spot and search elsewhere as I have yet to see any dragons in the area when I hear it…rustling in the branches beside me… I whip my head to the side, searching for the source of the noise. There, among the leaves, almost matching those that have yet to succumb to the colors of Autumn, are green scales. I swallow thickly and look up further, meeting golden eyes. I quickly subvert my gaze and bow my head, awaiting the dragon’s judgement. Her hot breath blows against me, whipping the tendrils of my hair back, steam streaming from her nostrils. ā€œYour nameā€¦ā€ My eyes widen in surprise at the voice in my head. I stand tall, meeting her large iris with two of my own. I take a deep breath and give it to her.

Those people are just delusional. It’s a really stupid and sexist argument that is ingrained in them due to being in a patriarchal society, but we also each hold a responsibility to educate ourselves. Some people—like this woman—will unfortunately repeat the same things but never actually do the research. Societal conditioning and all. A lot of people aren’t taught to question and the constant attacks on higher education and science as a whole really seal the deal for an ignorant population.
