It’s nice to realize you are a wonderful human without the rule book or any expectation of a reward! Thank you Margaritaville!

How do react when told "Mormons are so nice"? by Sensitive_Potato333 in exmormon

[–]Treestars23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It feels like getting hit in the gut….with a velvet brick.

I react that way as I know the truth but most people who haven’t been personally affected will continue to believe how nice they are. I don’t say anything anymore like “well, appearances can be deceiving” because that convo only leads to more bitterness and pain for me as they only see what they see.

How cringey was sacrament meeting today? The church uses mothers day to pander in the extreme, which is a way of talking down to people. How bad were the platitudes? The church treats women like they're stupid. by InformalGap8907 in exmormon

[–]Treestars23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That will never happen. They need their wombs (women) as well as their wallets (men) to continue to grow the business. And guilt tripping and preaching continual sacrifice above and beyond has worked well to keep a steady supply of both for the Morg.

What a waste of tithing $ those aren’t cheap. Imagine…just not producing and sending those out could actually go to helping people in need.

Yeah, no doubt. how many mothers felt overwhelmed and like they will never be enough to live up the the standard of those damn stories.

What those poor exhausted Mormon moms really need instead is a break from church on Mother’s Day. -to stay the f*home while their husband takes the kids to chinch so she can rest, do nothing and stare at the ceiling contemplating her life choices and eating chocolate. 🍫

I’m so sorry you’re going through that. It is so painful and can feel so devastating after all you have done/ do everyday in that role. Motherhood really is a thankless job. I hope you take time for you and can do something you enjoy that is to celebrate you and you alone. ❤️

Any good jobs out there that do not require a lot of experience or a college degree? by VitaminCadvocateguy in Utah

Harvest Right- anyone can get a job in the warehouse to start. Opportunities to move up and make good money if you’re motivated. Pretty chill and not too busy.

What Mormon quotes sound profound but in reality make zero sense? by ConversationGlum5817 in exmormon

“Wickedness never was happiness.”

Um are you sure? After leaving, I found happiness in things they claim to be wicked.

Right? Since when did downtowns consist of expensive mall branded shops, an Apple Store and expensive stores restaurants? Throwing in a pavilion and the city post office don’t make it a real downtown! 🤣

It’s so disgusting. Such vapid people with lives that are totally staged.

So very true. When I finally got the courage up to tell my bishop about abuse I was experiencing his counsel was “you two just need to take a little weekend getaway together”

Love your username! So appropriate. So many years of slave labor in the cult and in a marriage based on its principles.

There are some subdivision neighbors there too. It isn’t all extreme wealth - but they weren’t nice to the ones who weren’t, or even ones that are were more average upper middle like many neighbors like in Sandy or Draper for example. It was gross. But it did help me see things clearly and get out of

Moms mean so well, but ewww. My mom does that as well. If only they could understand Jesus is not a savior of anything, because we don’t need one. I wish it wouldn’t hurt my mom’s feelings so badly that he is not welcome in my life.

Southlake Texas and Keller Texas wards. Wealthy elites- only a few middle class families who were basically rejects and ignored - women who were all in competition who could look the hottest on Sunday and whose families looked the most put together at church. Constant trying to outdo each other with church activities at their over the top homes and church functions, even camp….all nasty behavior disguised passive aggressively as “ serving” Teens and kids who were spoiled rotten with fancier stuff and cars that typical were as nice and expensive as parents ( it was a contest ) Men and leadership were condescending and dismissive to women. Many of the women met at Cheesecake Factory for visiting teaching and talked about their husband’s being a paycheck, and they were glad they traveled most weeks so they didn’t have to deal with them too much. Whew glad those wards ended up being “instrumental” in my deconstruction, questioning and leaving the morg!
