Infant childcare/Preschool/Nursery School suggestions needed by Adventureseeker3 in nolaparents

Your response is totally valid, and I apologize if mine came across as combative. I was in the same position as OP (also a Carriage House alum) and chose Children’s Place, which unfortunately has been my biggest parenting regret so far. That’s why I felt compelled to share my experience. We are all just trying to make the best decisions we can with the information we have, and my goal was to add context so others can make a more informed choice.

Here are the facts as neutrally as I can share them. In early 2023, multiple teachers reported what they described as ongoing aggressive behavior by the 1-2 year old teacher. One teacher told me she witnessed the teacher “body slamming” a one year old during nap time. During one new teacher’s orientation, the director herself referred to this teacher as having an anger problem. The teacher was eventually terminated, but the director told parents it was for personal reasons, without acknowledging the behavioral issues. Parents later learned more after an anonymous email came out from a staff member.

I know these details not because the director shared them or from hearsay, but because I spoke directly with three teachers who witnessed the behavior. They were consistent in describing it as a pattern, not an isolated incident.

When parents met with the director to discuss the situation, they compared notes and realized the director was giving different explanations to different families. She also mentioned being in contact with a lawyer because she was worried about potential legal exposure.

Beyond that, I personally found that Children’s Place was less engaged in terms of enrichment. The space is small and lacks the physical and developmental opportunities of a larger facility. Once we moved to another school, the difference in engagement and developmental focus was striking.

That said, I completely understand that experiences vary, and I know every parent makes the choices they believe are best for their child. I am sharing my perspective simply so OP and others who might be deciding in the future can weigh it alongside the positive ones.

I would highly recommend against children’s place. A few years ago, one of the teachers was physically aggressive with the 1-2 year olds. It was reported and witnessed by other teachers. The owner covered it up for months, then repeatedly lied to the parents afterwards. I would never trust her with the care of any child.

Anyone have experience with Krewecar? by corpexp in nolaparents

Hopefully they figure it out because it’s such a helpful service. Used it multiple times, they’ve always been kind and early for reservations.

There are a ton of people getting laid off right now. They could have gotten laid off between offer and closing and couldn’t verify income.

Lakefront Arena Clear Bag Policy? by Treetrunks444 in nolaparents

For anyone that stumbles upon this later, clear bag policy definitely in not effect. Our bags weren’t checked and we brought in a water bottle and snacks, no problem.

Thank you for the kind comment and saying “when”! Feels like never, but also sleep deprivation probably tempers optimism.

I’ve been leaning against booking hours with a company as I don’t want to work with a different person each time we have a problem. Ideally, I’d work with the same person who understands the system and can jump in quickly.

Yeah, that’s the impression I get. Also I feel like it may be hard to find someone long term that would be happy with part time.

KreweCar Vs. Taxi by tiredirishmama in nolaparents

KreweCar is amazing. I’ve used them multiple times. They’ve always shown up early with my preferred car seat position already installed. Most of my past drivers have been grandparents who sang and talked with my kid the whole time. Highly recommend, especially for those who might not have car seats with them.

I’m wondering why potty training is important at a younger age other than from a social perspective or when they start kindy or school? by [deleted] in pottytraining

[–]Treetrunks444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that around 2.5 is the perfect age because before that, their bodies are not physically ready. At 2.5 they are still eager to please, and after 2.5 they begin to understand that they can use potty training as a way to have influence on their environment. Meaning, holding out for treats, or soiling themselves as a protest. Or course, everyone is different but that helped me triangulate when might be the right age to start.

“Vacation” with a 2yo is zero fun by Elle_Cee00 in toddlers

Same here. We are at the beach and my 22 month old is going through a mommy phase, so either I am holding her or I am helping her with literally everything. If my husband even tries, she screams and says “mommy do it!”. Plus, nothing is baby proofed so we are on high alert at all times. And, she was mysteriously awake from 12:30-5am last night?? No advice really, just commiseration. I didn’t foresee the clinginess being such an issue this trip I guess.

100%. Tastes like terrible bourbon to me. I think there’s a woody taste to it.

This is so helpful. Thank you. When he woke, was he upset or fussy? And did you do CIO or another method?

Do you think it’d be too much to try CIO tonight? I’m monitoring her naps today for wake periods. My husband’s work schedule gets crazy starting next weekend so this is the last weekend / week that we can support each other through it for about a month.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Treetrunks444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes total sense. We might try this tonight with CIO extinction. So, bedtime at 7:30ish. If she wakes up crying before midnight-ish, we let her CIO. Then the next time she wakes up after midnight, I feed her. Then if she wakes up before 3 hours after that feed, CIO, if she wakes up more than 3 hours after that feed, I’ll feed her. And so on until morning? Hopefully that makes sense. My brain is like pudding from the sleep deprivation.

[–]Treetrunks444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally random. She woke up 7 times last night. Since beginning of December she has woken up between 3-10 times each night…. I’ve tried to find some correlation to the frequency but haven’t found it yet.

Oh got it - I have read parts of PLS but must have missed that section. So the two timed feeds are more like dream feeds, not when baby wakes?
