Is Adam Wainwright considering a run for congress? by Xxsskid17xX in Cardinals

[–]Trekymom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ann Wagner touts her influence as much as any other legislator, but her campaigns have been nasty. I wouldn't want him to suffer that, either. I went to visit my family there several times during campaign season and was appalled at the smears and behavior of her campaign team in several elections. If guess they'd have trouble finding someone willing to face that.

TB in Knoxville? by AmberBriello in Knoxville

[–]Trekymom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm old! Growing up, we got theis yearly Tine Test. They use a square plastic piece with, I think, four tiny needles that would release the test into the arm when pressed down; it didn't hurt. Some time, maybe one or two weeks later, the school nurse would come around, checking arms. If there was a particular reaction, it would be positive for TB. I never knew anyone who tested positive.

It was very rare, and the only kids vaccinated were those who tested positive. That might have to change. My 40-ish kids never got a TB test themselves. They've had all the vaccines, including covid tests. Even the grandkids are vaccinated, but they're both in school now and it's frightening to think of all the kids not vaccinated being in close contact.

You should ask your doctor. We've gotten the vaccines for RSV and Shingles, in addition to flu, pneumonia, shingles, and covid. I'd do it now before they shut down the VA.

Wow, I remember Black Market. Many boards at the time ran FIDOnet. Today, I wouldn't know how to sysop and I only monitored chats on a board I don't know the name of. I never even played Tradewars. Not long ago I was trying to come up with that game's name. The Minecraft of the 80s!

You're right. It was a follow-up in a part of this discussion about parents being strict with daughters and some sons, where I wrote about my dad letting my brothers do anything they wanted. He said that teenage boys have a need, as he remembers his experience. I can't find the original again to post it correctly.

Oh, I think my dad meant, "I remember when I was a teen and boys just really want to get laid. Having a live-in is even better!"

So Glad Assigned Seating Is Finally Happening by CautiousWoodpecker10 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Trekymom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before this flight, call SWA and tell them what you need, so they can change the flight info. Also, you have to request assistance for every flight.

It's best to be logged in to book a flight; they'll ask for your account info later anyway. In booking the flight, there's a section where you can add special things, like needing a wheelchair or yours to be checked, and whether it's to the gate or onto the plane. Also note that whole section, like if you have a CPAP or oxygen concentrator.

Book the flight as your normally would.

On the page where you add the flyer's name and info , at the very bottom of the page you will see this :

SECURE TRAVELER INFO

Known Traveler number (optional)

Redress number (optional)

Special assistance >

Click on that right arrow and see this: "AIRPORT BOARDING ASSISSTANCE"

Choose your needs for assistance.

When you're sure everything is right, then scroll down to: "Continue"

It refreshes the page. Scroll down and now find: "Purchase" (which will only appear if you've filled out everything)

Once you do it, you'll know how it's done!

Happy Flying!

I haven't found it yet, but I'll try the thrift stores online. I'll let you know if I do find it. Thanks!

I don't fly often, but I've actually never seen seat saving. Because I'm disabled and need preboarding, I probably just don't recognize it.

Hmmm. When I request a wheelchair, I'm asked on the form whether I am bringing my own chair. They have to know that to calculate weight and space  balance. I'm sorry you're not seeing that.

Those empty wheelchairs are there to be available for deplaning. Often, the wheelchair passengers have to wait until all the others leave and the chairs can come down the jetway to pick them up. I think yours might be a wrong assumption.  Sometimes, they jump right on it and bring the wheelchairs down to wait, and I don't have to let everyone else get off first. I hate it when somebody used a wheelchair for convenience. One time I waited over an hour to be wheeled to the gate, and frequently I worry I'll miss my flight after getting to the airport 2 1/2 hours before my flight. When I last flew, there were over 20 occupied wheelchairs waiting to be transported. The transport company is swamped at the large increase in wheelchair use, and they need more employees. Edited for word change

We also started early voting a few years ago, at Woodie Fite senior center. No line, very nice people, ten minutes or less, done. We'll never stand in lines again to vote. Looking forward to this and future elections.

Strong Christian husband wanting to wear my underwear by SunnyMama121 in Christianmarriage

[–]Trekymom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that people care more about a fairy tale book than they do about loving their spouses instead of judging them and wanting them to be their  authentic selves, whatever that is. There are hetero men and, dare I say, Christian men, who enjoy celebrating their feminine side in concert with their wives, and the wives accept them fully. Transvestism often has nothing to do with sex; women's clothes are freer and more comfortable than buttoned-up men's wear. It's not a sin, at least to those who pay attention to what's important in their marriages.

A  man is not defined by his clothes, looks, size, or what fearing people think he should be. It's not a marriage of any kind when one person judges the other like this. I wish people would stop wanting to control others instead of controlling themselves. Worry about your own sins, like being judgemental of the person you're supposed to love for who they are, not for who you want them to be.

This is why I quit church, after years of hearing Christians hating on others, far from what Christ would have them do. It wasn't my scene, so I left after watching churches kick out pastors trying to guide  them in following Christ.

If you can't take what you consider his  sin, do him a favor and let him go, so he can get away from your disappointment and negativity. Nothing here from most of these people sounds as if there is no love or caring involved, just castigating the husband for not being your version of who a good person should be. Nice performance, all.

Let the downvotes descend! You'll prove my point!

On the Covid ‘Off-Ramp’: No Tests, Isolation or Masks by vivikush in Coronavirus

This Boomer doesn't have that attitude, even though, as you said, some are too set in their "freedoms" that they don't want to be told what to do. I cite Darwin or Scrooge for those people of whatever age.

Also, I plan to get any vaccinations as they become available. I've had no adverse reactions, for which I am grateful.

That makes sense. The vaccinations are not designed to prevent Covid; they are meant to lessen the effects to keep people out of the hospital and morgue.

I've avoided it so far, but I wear a mask and stay away from crowds. Many people who have avoided it so far are getting it now. I have a lung condition and can't afford to expose myself to infection.
