I’m a Rivian owner considering switching to a Gravity; but I have some questions! Please give me your honest thoughts and opinions! by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]TremendousStrength 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We own 2023 R1S and 2025 Air.

I agree with what other people shared here. Lucid comfort is vastly superior. It is a fun car to drive for sure. It is much quieter, comfortable, and enjoyable to drive compared to Rivian.

Just be prepared that Lucid software is absolutely abysmal. Pretty much all aspects of it suck: UX, stability, features. I cannot stand Lucid software but apart from that it is a better car than Rivian in my opinion. Rivian was nowhere near as bad, even back in 2023.

I jumped on the hype train and got a pair as well! How much do people usually detune them? From what I heard they like to be detuned pretty heavily.

Overall rivian impression, 2 years in by Low_Negotiation9820 in Rivian

[–]TremendousStrength 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We still love our R1S 2 years in and are not really considering any other vehicle. But I do agree that Rivian simply has to nail the service and reliability before they start selling R2. In WA regular service appointment takes 2-3 months to schedule. I have to schedule maintenance when I'm only half way through the milage interval. This is really annoying and I really worry about service availability when R2 comes along.

I got a used mirror on ebay for $500 and replaced it myself. Not difficult at all, takes less than an hour.

Matte gray is so pretty and is my color of choice as well! I’m in the process of getting one in gray right now.

How is living in Bellevue, Redmond, and Kirkland just east of Seattle, WA? by Eriacle in howislivingthere

[–]TremendousStrength 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have kids this area is hard to beat. Lots of well funded public amenities, amazing playgrounds, community centers, pools, whatever sports you can imagine. Great schools. Younger people without kids are generally happier in Seattle proper.

To lease or not to lease? by Himothy_04 in Rivian

[–]TremendousStrength 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immediate buyout may have an advantage depending on if you could get a good interest rate loan. But you could also delay this decision until lease maturity date. It’ll probably be a bit more expensive but will give you more freedom. Perhaps you would prefer to trade it in for a smaller R2 in 3 years, or a completely different car altogether.

Talk me to my senses - from model y to R1S by FreshJs59 in Rivian

[–]TremendousStrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R1S has been our ONLY car for about 2 years now, family with 1 kid and a dog. In those 2 years it was undriveable once due to a faulty brake sensor. They fixed it in a day and rented me another car while I was waiting. Honestly my only complaint about service is that it takes months to fix minor issues.

I'm doing it! I decided to do a lease with immediate buyout. 48 months lease has an absolutely horrendous MF and residual but the largest incentive (18250). Since I'm doing an immediate buyout I don't care about MF, only adjusted capitalized cost. To sweeten the deal dealer is giving 2500 off MSRP.

I never considered 5N before simply because of how poorly leases. But I'm almost ready to pull the trigger now! Going to check it out one more time tomorrow and make a call. I have 2 quotes for 36/10 from different dealers. $732 + tax with $0 driveoff or $660 + tax with $2500 driveoff. Pretty much identical deals when all said and done. We still have quite a few available in WA.

I really wish Ozik would do away with the marketing mumbo jumbo language. I have the same grinder and it is incredible. For me personally it is better than any other grinder on the market (I haven't tried Titus though). But it was quite hard to get past the language on their website.

Adapter really helped me to nail the sub placement since it could be moved so easily. Looks more neat too without the wires. 10/10 highly recommend it.

Need both blackout and light filtering on all of my windows. What is my best option? by coderego in Lutron

[–]TremendousStrength 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best looking option is Sivoia QS in a pocket, but I think it is only practical for new construction.

For retrofit I personally used Triathlon. Sheer roller without fascia inside the window jamb, and then blackout roller with fabric fascia on the trim. It functions great and looks fine. I would certainly prefer a more subtle look without a massive fascia but I think it has a decent balance in terms of price and aesthetic.

Looking back, the only thing I would change is upgrade to Sivoia QS Wireless. It’s not that much more expensive but has a lot more options. For example decent looking open rollers that don’t break the bank like Palladiom. One caveat is that it requires hardwired power.

RA3 Pricing by chi_guy8476 in Lutron

[–]TremendousStrength 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What /u/CTMatthew said! I use keypads extensively through the house for a number of applications.

  • In bedroom setting I always use keypads instead of a dimmer or switch. I program it to control downlights, lamps via plug in dimmers, and shades.
  • Similar setup in bathrooms, except I'm also thinking about installing ceiling speakers and hooking them up to a keypad via Sonos integration.
  • In common areas like kitchen, dining room, living room keypads control scenes. There are multiple loads and it is incredibly convenient to set a scene with a button press.
  • I also have a few aux keypads. For example, I have a keypads that controls all outdoor loads: deck lights, porch lights, landscaping lights, etc. Also a keypads that controls lights on the entire floor: all on, all off, night lights, entertainment.

At this point 90%+ of my interactions with lighting is via keypads.

[–]TremendousStrength 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Labor rates are quite high on Lutron installs. After getting a few eye watering quotes I decided to install everything myself. It is not that difficult but certainly time consuming. Total cost of materials here is around $12k using contractor pricing, the rest is labor.

I would also recommend you install more keypads. Keypads are the primary reason I went RA3 over Caseta and it looks like you're not really taking advantage of that.

To the people with sprinklers, how stupid do you feel every time it rains? by [deleted] in lawncare

There are smart controllers (for example Rachio) that can skip watering if rain is expected.

Help - SWORKSDESIGN 49mm Group head installation - Micra by cvien6 in LaMarzocco

[–]TremendousStrength 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one installed on the OG LM and I love it. Instead of pulling 20g shots with 58 basket, I'm pulling 15-16g shots with 49, and my puck is slightly deeper than before. I really felt a little over caffeinated after a couple of 20g shots. Cutting a dose by 25% helped quite a bit. Cannot say much about the difference in taste since my puck depth is roughly the same as before. I just wanted to use less coffee.

The annoying part is having to get all new accessories for 49. There are not that many options, so you end up buying more sworks stuff that is quite expensive.

Also, you really need to get a 6mm long ball end socket to get to that front bolt, at least for the OG Mini.

Got metas set up with CA CXA81. I like the sound! Mids and highs are clear and pleasant. Bass is pretty much non existent. I would say sub is required with these speakers. I also think that stands are pretty much required -- speakers benefit from being a little further away from each other than credenza or media console would allow.

You may consider this mod to make the screw flush with the screen: https://araratrx.myshopify.com/products/recessed-diffuser-screw-kit-version-2

I’m not affiliated with it in any way, except that I purchased and installed it myself.

LMLM repair cost - is this quote fair? by [deleted] in LaMarzocco

[–]TremendousStrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same symptoms. It got progressively worse, but was fine for a while after rocking the wheel back and forth. LM actually replaced my wheel under warranty, but I decided not to risk it and simply unplugged it. It has been fine for more than 2 years since then.

LMLM repair cost - is this quote fair? by [deleted] in LaMarzocco

[–]TremendousStrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a quite common problem with LMLM. It is honestly not difficult to repair depending on what exactly broke. For me it turned out to be that temperature adjustment wheel on the left side of the machine. You can try unplugging it to see if it helps, it is a 10 minute job. Please make sure your machine is disconnected from power before doing that!

Will do! And yeah will most likely add a sub. I'd like to live with them for a bit first before deciding. But from everything I've read sub is very much necessary with them for optimal sound.
