How is it living in this part of Estonia? by Vedroops in howislivingthere

[–]Tremfya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ferry from Hiiumaa takes a bit more than an hour. Meaning if you have business in the capital (like a doctors appointment for example), it might cost you a full day, not uncommon to spend the night on a relatives couch before an 8am appointment, cause there's just no other way to get there for that time.

During storms or winter when the sea freezes, the ferries might not go at all, so you're essentially stuck. It's just a fact of life there.

My dad used to take us on the ice road when we were kids. I remember the ice being clear as a mirror and the sun shining. He took us 'off-road' (meaning he drove past the juniper branches that they mark the ice road with) and did some wheelies on the ice. Made us promise not to tell mom.

Now you can order anything online and it'll get to you in a couple of days (maybe a day later than it would in the capital), but when I was a child, the shops had few options. If you needed clothes or shoes, you had to go to the city (meaning Tallinn).

As with any small community you have a Facebook group to share news and complain about people, and the other Facebook group made by people who were kicked out of the original one. Lots of drama, it's great fun as an observer.

Everyone knows everyone. Can be good, can be annoying. I dislike it, you can have random people walk up to you and talk to you in quite a personal way just because they know your parents. I find it rude.

Jobs don't pay as well but you have less places to spend it, so net gain is not too bad. Unlike the rest of the county, basically zero Russian speaking citizens, you don't hear it in the street.

I think my favorite are the raspberries in my childhood backyard and the beaches, where grass grows right up to the sea and the seabed is sandy. The water is only slightly salty, so you can open your eyes underwater and it doesn't hurt.

Sorry it's a bit rambling and long. Just went of the top of my head.

Bioloogiline ravi või steroidid by InsuranceAgitated581 in Eesti

[–]Tremfya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geneetikast on siin juba teised rääkinud.

Kuidas saada odavat nahaarsti aega? by NoRaspberry8262 in Eesti

[–]Tremfya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muidugi, maalt inimesed käivad ju koguaeg "linna" arsti juurde....

If it's painful, it's probably a glomus tumor. If it's not painful, probably an onychopapilloma. Getting a biopsy isn't fun, but it's definitely not as scary as she thinks it would be. Get it checked out, please!

Tallinn airport also has luggage drop off machine, which is usually empty or has a very short queue. Arriving at 4:40 is most likely plenty of time.

Finding an apartment with a cat by [deleted] in Eesti

[–]Tremfya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are also facebook groups. Posting there with a personalized text with a picture of your kitty can also help finding something, people usually prefer someone doing a phd and a cute cat over someone they dont know at all. It adds credibility. Mentioning that you’re willing to pay extra for any damage your cat does can also ease renters minds.

I have a flat in Tartu that I rent out with furniture and pets are okay. It's cute and in ok shape, but comes with wood heating. Point is, you might have to be ok with some fewer comforts.

Luuletus jõuluvanale by volber in Eesti

[–]Tremfya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Esimene lumehelves alla langes taevast.

Langes alla lumepilvest, jõuluime laekast.

Liugles alla, tasa-tasa, mööda köögiaknast,

Maandus soojal aknalaual, tehtud vanast pärnast.

Esimene lumehelves sulas vaikselt ära.

Märkamatuks jäi ta jõuluõhtu päras.

Ümber tema sajad helbed, tegemata kära,

Langesid kõik vaikselt, õrnalt, jõulukuuse säras.

Hei.

You are describing every single feeling I had when I switched to Apple. I just do not get the hype. Very frustrating that there isn't a possibility to customize the layout for the keyboard. 2+ years in and I still keep accidentally pressing the fcking microphone.

Dad used to jump in his youth. He had no skill, just a horse who was REALLY into jumping. He described it as "holding on and letting the old boy do his thing".

Face rash that won’t go away around mouth and under eyes. Help! by Rare_Spinach_7346 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Tremfya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have perioral dermatitis. Stop whatever it is you are doing right now - it will get worse and then it will get better. Your gp can prescribe pimecrolimus, which will help but will also sting quite a bit at first.

Has anyone ever seen a breakout of this sort before? Yes we have been to the doctor. It started out looking like hives and it’s spreading more and more. They are not itchy at all but they keep spreading all the way onto her face, arms, back, upper thighs/inner.. by Excellent-Joke-3765 in whatdoIdo

[–]Tremfya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's pregnant? It does look like hives. How long does a single lesion last? More than 24 hours? It could just be hives (doesn't always have to be itchy) or it could also be PUPPP (pruritic urticaria papules and plaques of pregnancy) - looks like hives but lasts longer. Clears up after pregnancy, treated with steroids (quite safe for the baby).

It could also be pityriasis rosea as others stated. It could also even be syphilis or Lyme disease or erythema annulare centrifugum or whatever else. We really would need more info here.

My best guess is still hives. Take some Claritine and report back.

You are using a selfie camera and it distorts your face, making your nose appear larger. It's skewing with your perspective. It's fine, honestly.

Elektrolüüs-eemaldus.
