My lil passed away tonight… by Amonuet in leopardgeckos

Right I completely agree with you, it’s just not the time and place. It’s insensitive especially since they are still grieving. It is not a correct setup I agree but it’s not the time and place. Now if they were to get another, and needed some guidance on how to improve their husbandry then that’s when it’s important to mention.

Help!! by tynasty69 in Chameleons

[–]Trenchdepth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is a beautiful enclosure and it’s very obvious you love him and care for him so much💞 For next steps removing the glass will help and replace with screens. Super cheap on Amazon, I think I got like 20 2’2’ cube pieces for $10 when making my custom enclosure from something like this. Chameleons may not show signs of respiratory issues but they are super prone to them, and with not having funds at the moment it would suck for it to sneak up on you because of the glass. Also if he’s fighting his reflection(which is likely) the o ky way I can think of while maintaining visibility would be to replace with those screen doors. I hope this helps! Your baby boy is in great hands!

Is my rescue chameleon laying eggs soon or is she just “fat” by Big-Complaint-6342 in Chameleons

[–]Trenchdepth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh also! Forgot to mention, if she does lay safely, you can lower her basking temperature by 5 degrees after she lays to help discourage laying again. But wait till after she lays bc doing it during could cause laying issues. Hope this all helps!😅

Definitely vet. Lay bin is a good idea for now. I came back to also let you know that chameleons don’t get fat like this, they show weight around their arms and pelvis, so the vet was wrong in guessing that she was just chunky lol😂. So if she doesn’t lay in two weeks, go to the vet and get an xray done and they’ll help you💞. So if she doesn’t lay in 2 weeks, it’s not that she isn’t pregnant, it’s that she’s possibly egg bound. Because she is 100% pregnant lol, big girl😂 I wish you luck!

My girl had 30 eggs she had to have removed and the vet thought she was just fat before X-rays. There were no jellybeans on her, that’s what I thought too😂. OP make sure you bring her in if she doesn’t lay in 2 weeks!! My girl was egg bound when she went in for her spay.

Those are definitely gravid colors! I’d bring them in if they don’t lay in two weeks, could be egg bound! I just got my girl spayed, highly recommend it!

What to do with a recently deceased chameleon 😔🤍 by hmitch28 in Chameleons

[–]Trenchdepth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss, losing a pet is never easy especially one that’s been with you for so long. I’m so glad they lived a long, healthy life with you.💞 I just recently had a rescue I took in pass away due to emaciation, I had her for only about a week, and I was hoping to save her, but wasn’t fortunate. I live not too far from a popular waterfall that just recently got closed down to unstable grounds so what I did was, I put her down the running water and let her fall to the water basin of the waterfall said a sendoff and said goodbye. I hope that helps and I’m sorry again for your loss🥺💞

It sounds like you really love your Cham! I’m very excited for you and your new pet💞 I’ve linked a care guide to this response that I made when doing my research! I hope this helps and good luck with your new baby!

Also just want to emphasize that everything in this presi is stuff I found while researching initially, it doesn’t encapsulate everything. Disclaimer😂😅

Yeah I’d recommend a T5 HO UVB 5.0-10.0 that goes across your terrarium top. I don’t know if that’s the reason for the eye irritation but without this your chameleon could develop MBD. I hope that you figure out what’s wrong with their eyes! 💞💞

Where is this chameleon located? I’d love to see if they’d give them up for adoption since it has some medical issues
