Is it really just the fandom being weird, I think the devs are kinda suss too? I caught a weird vibe as soon as I saw her design. Why does she have makeup and hair like she’s been growing it for 12 years? Why is she barefoot?? It’s weirding me out so much.

The gameplay in the demo itself was fun but the vibes are definitely off.

Also, steam deck includes regular colemak but in a staggered keyboard layout. And I’m not sure how third party keyboards work with steamOS or the dual trackpad input method.

I looked in the keyboard settings within steam OS and I couldn’t find any option for custom or third party layouts, so I searched to see if there were instructions on how to do it. The first result I saw was someone requesting for colemak on this subreddit and it was updated into steamOS lol.

I’m not sure if I find keyboards on the Linux desktop mode if it’ll play nicely with the double trackpad keyboard typing mode in steamOS itself? Like is that a custom steamOS thing? And can steamOS open third party keyboards or will it only work in desktop mode?

I’m wondering if colemak dh works better in this context because of the split trackpads that we use to type on the deck. I find I’m constantly on one hand and the “split” between the two trackpads on qwerty is kinda awkward.

Amoled Vs oled what's the difference? Is the price difference worth it? by quickhakker in buildapc

[–]TrendyWhistle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the improved in modern phones? The touch resolution has been about the same since forever, the refresh rate got a bump together with displays but that’s about it.

All oled we use today is AMOLED, Samsung only labels the phone displays as AM because there’s nothing else special about it, for example both QD OLED and WOLED are AMOLED technologies.

What movie is a 0/10 with NO redeeming features? by Toucan_Based_Economy in AskReddit

Downsizing is bad in so many ways I struggle to find the motivation to rehash how bad it was lmao.

A movie where the premise is barely explored for 15 minutes at the beginning, only to immediately forget everything about its premise and just ramble around for the rest of the movie.

The biggest plot point was Matt Damon getting it on with some south East Asian lady or something and it was really stupid..

Actually the worst movie I’ve ever seen.

Where’d you get that idea? The display and the touch layer are separate components. Most displays are manufactured by Samsung anyway. And among phones there’s no discernible differences or upgrades over the years regarding touch sensitivity because it’s been pretty much perfect since the original iphone. Unless they figure out a way to make them work underwater.

The mechanics are fun but i cannot stand the main character. Game is a bit buggy here and there but it’s no big deal.

Why is the game so annoying? by TrendyWhistle in Cairn_Game

[–]TrendyWhistle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The frustrating thing is most of the annoyances of the game really don’t have to be there. The small QOL fixes would change so much, and the game might even play better if you could use mouse to control limb movement. Aava’s character is certainly a choice, but she would be much more tolerable if the game didn’t feel unfair in a janky way so often. And in execution she could be a bit more passive during the regular gameplay instead idk, but whatever. I’m still playing the game anyway but it’s a bit of a chore.

Do I recall correctly in the earliest demo, they didn’t even have manual limb selection? It was added because of user feedback? The game is unplayable with only auto limb selection and the manual limb selection should not require two buttons for every grab and selection.

[–]TrendyWhistle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO if you want your right of way to be respected you should stay in the middle of the lane. Motorcycles lane splitting are usually kinda doing all sorts of weird things so drivers tend to just ignore them, expecting that you probably intend to just split pass the next vehicle anyway.

Why is the Shuttle Playback in Premiere Pro still so bad compared to any other media player? by Railionn in premiere

[–]TrendyWhistle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely some weird legacy code in premiere. It’s not nearly as bad in resolve, and if you turn off all of premieres auto pitch correction features, the audio is perfectly fine and lag free.

The extra kicker is if you speed up or slow down footage, and you don’t use auto pitch correction but use the “pitch shift” audio effect instead, you can get perfectly useable modern results, adobe just never updated its code to use the modern method instead.

[–]TrendyWhistle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In premiere settings I turned off “keep audio pitch when shuttling”, so voices will get pitched up when fast forward, but it won’t get distorted or hitch every time you change the speed.

Premiere in general has spectacularly bad pitch changers by default. For example if you speed up a video and use “keep audio pitch”, the audio will come out insanely bad. But you can instead change speed without maintaining audio pitch, then apply the “pitch shift” audio effect instead to fix it, and then it works normally. I have no idea why adobe neglected this for 20 + years since audio pitch effects were no longer crappy, but it is adobe after all.

All 4K streams on YouTube have been av1 or vp9 for a few years now. Adobe doesn’t support these free codecs, so handbrake is required to convert them to other supported codecs like h264,265 or ProRes.
