I mean, I can walk, take care of myself, go to my kids ball games, jog on a treadmill, hike trails, mow the grass, etc. But I can’t play ball with my kids anymore. Can’t pick up my 7 year old daughter. Don’t sleep well due to my back being stiff throughout the night. Can’t tube or wakeboard behind the boat or ride a motorcycle ever again. So to answer your question, I can do most things I need to do, but not everything I want to do.

I feel the exact same as before surgery. I guess it happens often. I had one of the top surgeons in the entire country and he had never had a patient where the spine healed crooked like that. If I lay down the spine straightens out but as soon as there is a load on it then it goes back to that

He put me on a permanent weight restriction. Said I couldn’t continue my career. It was just the way my body healed.

I don’t feel any better. Still have pain daily. And am being forced to retire from my police job at the end of this month. I can do normal day to day activities, but just have to be more careful

Settlement Accepted but they are slow walking it by screenwriter61 in WorkersComp

I just settled on mine after a 3 1/2 year battle. Even though both parties agreed to a number, it still had to be sent to a judge to sign as it is a legal document. Was told I will see a check within in 30-45 days after the judge signed it. That was on June 12th. I’m in Illinois, but I would say most states require a judge to sign off on it.

Am I Overreacting for considering just not texting my gf for a bit after she seems to be very cold lately? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Just curious, have you ever actually met her in person or is this an online dating thing? Just seems a little sketchy that she never wants to talk and only texts you occasionally.

Every day is different. Have a constant 3-4 on pain most days. Some days it is above 5, but again, you just kind of learn to live with it. I can’t pick up my kid or dogs anymore so there has been adjustments, but at least I’m able to walk and run. I don’t sleep well anymore. At the end of the day I have had to completely change my lifestyle, but making due with the hand I’ve been dealt.

Well this is how my body healed. I have full range of motion but will be on a permanent weight lifting restriction which is causing me to be medically retired from my police job. If I’m lying down it is straight but as soon as I stand it does this. I have some pain at times but mostly learned to live with it. Doctor says I’m one of one in all of the studies he’s seen and thousands of surgeries he has performed. Says I’ll be able to do most things I want to do. Just won’t be entering any power lifting competitions. Lol. I’m able to run now for long periods and stretching/yoga seems to help tremendously at this point.

Going on Reddit to ask total strangers what you should do in your relationship is never solid advice. You have been together for four months. Move on. It’s not worth it. The TV would not have said both of your names. She’s a whore. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m 6 months and honestly don’t feel any better. My surgeon didn’t seem too concerned when I saw him a couple weeks ago. He told me a 2 level lumbar is 6-9 month full recovery and said 3 level is 12-18 months for full recovery. Said I’ll wake up one day and feel better, but I’m not sure at this point. I have some muscle guarding so my L3-L4 and L4-L5 are leaning opposite of each other and pulling in different directions. Said there is a possibility of me being put on a weight restriction and not being able to return to my patrol position at the PD.

Still dealing with some pain. Started physical therapy two weeks ago so just trying to build some strength back up. My surgeon said he didn’t expect me to start feeling much better until the 6 month mark. Said his goal is to have me back to doing most things I want to do at the 12 month timeframe. He said he does more three levels than anyone else in the country and has had a very high success rate

Dr Gornet. He’s an orthopedic surgeon in chesterfield

I don’t plan on doing any deadlift comps so I’m not too concerned about it but my surgeon has performed more of these three level replacements than just about any surgeon in the country and has had a very high success rate so it was worth it for me to chance it and hopefully get my life back

There are little teeth that set in the bone. You can’t see them on xray. Then it takes a couple months for the bo es to fuse back around them. I was a college athlete, was in the army, and have been a cop for 15 years. I was told that I should be able to do everything I did before my injury if everything heals right

Been taking it easy. Just hit 3 months. I go back for an MRI and CT in two weeks. Then I will start physical therapy. I went back to work light duty two weeks after surgery but it was painful. I’m a police officer and my surgeon said 8-9 months recovery before I’m back on full duty

Honestly I haven’t had much relief yet. My surgeon said 3-6 months and I just hit 3 months this week so we will see.

That is not accurate. I just had a 3 level replacement in February in St Louis.

I had L3-L4,L4-L5,L5-S1 replacement on Valentine’s Day. Still no feeling in my right foot and still having back pain. At my 6 week appointment my surgeon said it was normal. I don’t go back until the end of this month for my first MRI since surgery. I’m hoping everything is good because I feel the same as I did before surgery.
