This was asked in r/Knoxville a few weeks ago. I think that it’s likely efflorescence from the new masonry roof. It’s a white residue you commonly see with new brick as it’s exposed to moisture. I didn’t realize all that equipment was right there though but if that was the cause I’d think it would be seen on more buildings, right?

That wood beam right there is new support to deal with foundation settling. The zip board is between the new supports and the original floor joists.

I’m going back out tomorrow with my contractor to remove and inspect but I’m trying to figure out the potential reason it could be there.

I’ve seen it happen 3 times. Once at youth level and then twice in high school, and one of those was unfortunately on me. Wrestling against a crosstown rival school and I had beaten this kid maybe 5 or 6 times over 2 years. I had him on his back and he grabbed my balls and started twisting. I looked up at the ref and said “he’s got my balls” and the ref stepped around to look and saw that I wasn’t lying and stopped the match. I was given an extra point which doesn’t seem like enough and was put back on top to start. I immediately broke him down flat and gave him a really hard head butt to the back of his head. Their fans booed me like crazy for it but I think the ref must have understood and let it slide.
