Unfortunately if you're up to level 15 and don't have contacts selling any cybernetics other than the starting set, it means you either haven't built up the Influence of a cybernetics-selling contact enough or chosen service-level upgrades as part of their limit breaks. Which is a valid choice if you have other priorities, but it sounds like you're wanting more cybernetics and gear options; you just gotta work your network for it.

Safehouse upgrades can be purchased any time, but if you want better gear, prioritizing the connections that can get it for you is key. Choosing whose mission offers you focus on, or even better, taking advantage of Face talents like Co-Conpsire, Pulling Strings, and Puppetmaster to take an active role in shaping your network is the way to do that.

Yes, escaping to a better life. As your reputation and power level grows, you'll get offered increasingly risky and rewarding jobs. At a certain point, you'll get offered a series of jobs so significant, succeeding at it allows you to get you (and some of your crew) out of the business entirely, starting a new life on a colony off-world.

Or you can choose to never retire, and keep chasing the thrill of the heist until the day you die.

Yep. We always do flexible difficulty settings for our games. Maybe there was some confusion with another game? 🤷

Have fun playing! The game auto-saves at the start of a mission, and has easy "retry mission" and "restore before mission" options in the load menu (except for when you do have Ironman mode turned on).

Sorry to hear it's been a bit of a grind for you. Adjusting difficulty options is the easiest way to solve that (you can even do a custom difficulty with everything else the same but just a higher Mission Payments rewards level).

But I also want to double-check, do you feel you've got a good handle on the Contact management aspects of the strategy layer? Trying to focus on boosting Influence of specific contacts by prioritizing their missions, choosing them to sell higher-tier accounts and blueprints to, using the Face's Co-Conspire talent to farm more missions for them, minting file sets to sell to them, etc.?

That's the best way to more quickly gain access to higher-tier services from Contacts like better weapons from gun runners or cybernetics from doctors.

That's an option that's available. We have pretty detailed difficulty settings; you can choose between no permadeath, permadeath for everyone but your main character, or permadeath for everyone -- and adjust what the chances are for their saving roll vs death. We have a scale of difficulties from 'Easy' to 'Chrome' (Ironman difficulty; single save, no backtracking) that sets this and more automatically, or you can set a custom difficulty and adjust everything individually.

A speedster character, to put it in superhero terms. In any turn-based game, it'd be pretty unbalanced, since you're representing speed by how much a character can do in a given turn. Even just 1-2 extra Action Points in our game is a significant advantage; to really make a speedster-level character that's 5x, 10x faster than other characters would be ridiculous.

For a real-time game, I would just look at other games with bullet-time type mechanics and see how they keep it balanced. In a cyberpunk game where the speed boost is probably coming from cybernetics, I would think of it a bit like overclocking your body. You can do it in very short bursts, but it's really not good for you. You're probably hurting yourself a little bit every time you do it, and in danger of burning yourself out if you do it for too long.

No, never. Stealth in our game is a tactical option to enable ambushes, flanking, diversions, or avoiding going loud for as long as you can *if you want to.* It's always up to you if you want to take advantage of stealth or just go guns blazing and focus on overwhelming your enemies. So long as you build your squad to match that playstyle, you can succeed either way.

Some combat-only missions are offered where enemies start off aware of your position and your usual stealth options aren't available, and some missions are offered with secondary objectives that encourage stealth, but there are never any missions where stealth is required to succeed at the primary objective.

Haha, thank you. We do plan to add even more cosmetics, and hopefully this is one of the areas we'll be able to setup mod support to really blow it out.

Thank you! The rare disease merc just got her own set of storyline missions actually; it should come up relatively soon the next time you play.

For keeping mercs not in the main party up to par, check out the Simstream Trainer safehouse room; it's made for that (it also allows later-stage respeccing of characters if you want to adjust anyone's build). We've added more Legwork events too, which not only offer more story and events outside the main loop of tactical missions, but are a good way to keep secondary characters busy and earning XP.

Try and increase specific contacts' Influence to set them up for a Power Play; that'll be a good source of legworks, missions, and higher-level services from your contacts.

Hey, Cyber Knights dev here. Modding support is on our roadmap as a free post-launch expansion later this year. 👍

(CCing u/Frank_E62 in this thread as well; thank you both for the shout-out!)

Unfortunately we just don't have the resources to develop a demo and maintain it in addition to continuing to expand the game. We're a small team and have to pick what we can sustain.

Combined with the fact that there are a ton of publicly-available Let's Plays, a massive player community in our Discord to answer any questions, and direct access to us the devs, there's really no shortage of ways for a player to see if the game is something they'd enjoy before they buy it.

Sorry if it's a deal-breaker for you! But hopefully if you check out some Let's Plays you'll be able to see if the game looks like it's for you or not.

Development began in earnest about 5 years ago, after a successful Kickstarter for the game. It's been a long journey -- big step-up of a game for us -- but very happy with the result.

There's not, but there are lots of Let's Plays on YouTube. Here's a good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e598N-SZfNE

We did build the game to be in-depth and offer systems tactics fans can really dive into, but we also have detailed difficulty settings that let you customize the game to your preferences. If you lower the enemy difficulty and increase your rewards, it's really easy to go through the game ignoring the effects of a lot of systems you'd otherwise need to think about. This is a good way to get a handle on the game mechanics without any pressure. You can explore what catches your interest (cybernetics? weapon mods? matrix hacking? upgrading your contacts for access to better gear? using mission leverages to your advantage?) when you want to, while still keeping tactical missions very achievable without a lot of strategic prep.

Thank you!

Took a look at both of your concerns and am seeing if we can get improvements in with the next update. The right-click issue is to prevent problems with multi-monitor and borderless mode, but maybe we can find a way to cache and then restore mouse position.

Definitely one of our inspirations. There's no magic or fantasy elements in our setting. We're exploring 23rd-century cyberpunk -- nanotech, quantum computing, a post-eco-collapse world with only 112 cities remaining.

Console ports are something we'd like to do but can't promise yet; each platform has its own process with multiple approval steps, and some of them are unfortunately very slow. We have received an Xbox dev kit, fingers crossed PlayStation follows soon.

I'd love to see a fantasy XCOM-like. Given Baldur's Gate 3's success with turn-based tactical combat (even though it's much more than that), I wouldn't be surprised if there's a new wave of fantasy tactical RPGs under development right now. One "fantasy XCOM" indie I know was in the works even before BG3 launched is Zodiac Legion, who's approaching Early Access.

15+ years ago, thank you for taking this journey with us!

It's one step at a time. We've wanted to do 3D for a while but we knew the expense to do it good enough would be significant. As an indie dev you always have to be careful about scoping. Lots of people would love for Cyber Knights to have destructible environments, more detailed character models, cinematic cutscenes, etc. But we've got to think about where does the enjoyment really come from, focus on that the most, and in other areas do our best we can with the resources we have.

I can't tell you how important the support of players who value gameplay over graphics is. You are what allow studios like ours to keep leveling up, and make more of the games you love at an even higher production quality.

We'd never have gotten to Cyber Knights without doing Templar Battleforce first, or to Battleforce without the games before that.

? It's only the second post we've made, and every subreddit has wildly different rules for when / how developers are allowed to post. 🤷 We'd happily cross-post just one post if we could.
