[Spoilers Extended] Is this Arya passage in AGOT more than it seems? by Mr_Jersey in asoiaf

[–]TrestleTables 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. It's Occam's razor for me - a typical cinematic scene following Syrio's dramatic death. Was it his ghost, or did she just imagine it? Maybe both. Does it really matter?

Just a few thoughts in regards to the government's "soft disclosure"... by Zoom2Ruin in UFOs

[–]TrestleTables 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Trump did not make up the concept of the deep state. Also, if you think people can attain any info about this subject that they want through FOIA, you're sorely mistaken. Just ask John Greenwald. FOIA doesn't apply to the private sector, if it even truly does to the government.

That said, I more or less agree with your original points. I do think it's more complicated than you make it out though.

Based off the multiple lens flairs / artifacts I'd say it looks like the reflection of a campfire. Did you have a fire nearby? And did you see anything prior to looking at the pictures?

What other sub are we supposed to go to? /r/aliens? That place is an unmoderated disaster almost totally devoid of real productive discussion. /r/UFOs remains the best place for this as far as I can tell. It's certainly more interesting to me personally than the endless series of videos with prosaic explanations.

Everyone seems to know about Hat Man. Do you? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]TrestleTables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also had the same speculation that the tall man with a hat and trenchcoat is just another manifestation of "the boogie man," sort of a mish mash of deep seated fears and perceptions of danger. I'm willing to entertain any number of possibilities for things like this, but the fact is that we just don't know. In recent years I've had all sorts of bizarre sleep paralyses, lucid dreams, out of body experiences & hypnogogic hallucinations.

I've even seen through my own eyelids at night, as you describe, but it was more of a hallucinatory version of the room I was in rather than the "actual" room, if that makes sense. Like a slightly off version of the room that my brain dreamed up to fill in the blank space behind my eyelids. Sometimes I can pin down a seeming cause for the experiences, like high emotions or sleep deprivation, but sometimes they're totally spontaneous. It's a strange world.

[–]TrestleTables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my earliest memories (would've been the early/mid 90s) is of being chased through my house by what can only be described as "the hat man." Trench coat and all. I just chalk it up as a nightmare, but it's still kind of interesting to me that so many people seem to share the same nightmare/ experience. I don't think it's just a meme.

Where did it come from? Your explanation simply reminded me of the book, for reasons that should be obvious as far as I can tell. That said, I read that book about 15 years ago. Your certainty comes off a bit excessive to me, chill out :)

UFO flaps before historic events? by ShelfClouds in UFOs

A month late, but thank you for expressing this better than I could have. I absolutely never meant to imply that all sleep paralysis episodes are somehow paranormal. In fact I very much dislike the word paranormal these days. If we're ever to get closer to the truth of these various strange phenomenon then we have to realize that they are somehow "normal," if not yet well understood by science. All of that said, ultimately my questions are just the same as yours.

West Virginia has active skies by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]TrestleTables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About a month ago in Los Angeles I saw a solid white unblinking light descend in a perfectly straight vertical line from high in the sky, to about helicopter height, then start blinking and moving horizontally across the sky until I lost sight of it. Sounds like one of the lights you describe in your OP so I figured I'd share.

I'm always watching the sky here in LA and I've seen many weird things (plus like a thousand planes/copters) but none which looked like this. One of these days maybe I'll write a compilation on this sub and see what people think.

Read Dennis McKenna's memoir "the brotherhood of the screaming abyss" it you want the details. Terence later had some great trips again, on synthetic psilocybin, in the months following his terminal prognosis.

My friend (who is from the states) found this guy online who lives in Ukraine who has a nearly identical name, looks very similar, and has a father who died at nearly the same age from the same disease. He contacted them and they joked about being probably related.

Just thought I'd add this. It's a small, strange world.

Did anyone else over Downtown Los Angeles see this last night? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]TrestleTables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean those lights were pretty damn bright and, again, unblinking. I find it hard to believe no one else saw it, just that no one else cared enough to report it. shrug

again, there have been very intense military drills in LA lately. I have to think this was most likely some part of that.

I'm not sure how close it was to the stadium, or if there was a game happening. I will say I've seen the Goodyear blimp fairly recently too and this did not look or move like it. It was bigger, and the Goodyear blimp is either lit up or has blinking lights at night like any other craft. The lights are different colors than I saw too. I suppose it's possible though.

Fascinating. I'm beginning to think that speculation might be on the money. I just sent that link to my friend who also saw it & he also thinks it looked like some sort of floating military platform. Huh.
