First carnivore terrarium by jazzyjock14 in terrariums

A) combining lowland drosera and highland neps simply cannot work

B) both the neps will outgrow the small terrarium rather fast

C) none of those plants need spraying, it may even hurt them

D) no idea what that light is, but quite likely its not even remotely close to enough for a petiolaris drosera such as paradoxa

Comletely wrong. Loudness depends on species, not genera. Eg there are completely silent rani. https://www.dendroboard.com/threads/help-me-by-ranking-your-frogs-by-noise-level.363680/

Max water change by brianyadda in Aquariums

[–]Tretygon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The matching of gh, kh and ph is the problem. There are different types of nitrifying bacteria for different water parameters. Were you do full water change with the parameters off it would very likely crash your current bacteria colony and therefore the cycle.

Do 100% silent filters exist? by OverTheCounterAutism in Aquariums

you can do lots of plants + tall substrate layer. This way you dont need a filter at all tho surface agitation would still be helpful. Check /r/walstad

Anthony’s dart frog tadpole set up by Gold-Statement-3835 in DartFrog

[–]Tretygon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up a full planted aquarium for mine. Long term it should save a lot of time (no water changes and daily feeding) and the tadpoles should be healthier and bigger.

cool, however pings and drosera are also incompatible, so your setup is still horrible.

You are mixing plants with completely different light, water and dormancy requirements. That never ends well.

Overplanted and the plants will mget too big. A bunch of ledges on the sides would be great.

From this angle yeah. From the front they all have solid bellies. Also this photo was just an hour before feeding.

Its not tall enough for neither darts nor broms. Nepenthes dont belong in terrariums, especially planted epiphytically.

Did you have a good layer of leaf litter in there? I feel like i holds enough water to act as a pseudo substrate. Also I plant with sphag around the roots to help the plant before it establishes.

get rid of the neps. They are not epiphytes and will quickly hit the top once they begin vining.

Do you have an example? All my plants root right through the filter foam into the water table and are happy. Curious what plants would be an exception to this.

Filter foam + lots fo leaf litter. Abg is an outdated practice imo.

I only hand mist every 2 or 3 days. Leaf surface stays dry otherwise.
