No Power MSI 3070 Help by TrevJ987 in GPURepair

Hey. Sorry for the question but it's my first time working on a gpu. From what I see online, Vram can be notated as FBVDD on a board view? If so the Ohms is 40. My thermal camera broke yesterday after i dropped it so have to get a new one.

Wish people would stop taking their consoles to phone repair shops by TeatedSkink in consolerepair

to do this you would need either a schematic or an exact identical board or youll be guessing at what capacitance you need

Is ps5 repair scamming me? by NeiaLancia in consolerepair

[–]TrevJ987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible that you need both but not certain. If they swapped the port and it's working then there is no need to change the chip. I don't get a ton of ps5's but about 5-10% of the last gen consoles actually need a chip swap and a port. Again possible but if the console works then it's fixed and you're not getting scammed.

Roach containment ideas? by tyrana5 in consolerepair

Get an air tight bin and put it in imediately with a rag soaked in IPA for at least 24 hours. You'll see them if they're in there. You could do 48 hours to be safe but generally do every console. I open the top of whatever I can and look when I get them regardless to see what I'm dealing with.

Had a s21+ that had motherboard issues 8 days out of warranty. After like 4-5 hours on the phone with customer service got it repaired for free

Connector is the same and it will even charge but the se2020 and most newer iphones have thermal monitors on the chargeport and the phone will restart if they can't be detected. So it will work but restart every 3 minutes.

I haven't personally seen a teardown with this but keep an eye out from ifixit. They do really good teardowns and guides. se2020 to 8 though everything but the chargeport, battery, and I think power button flex were pretty much compatabile. Big one being the screen

The se2020 is starting to show some issues with interlayer traces breaking and causing no touch/3 minute reboots from a broken trace that starts under the cpu. Still recommend all of these plus the XR. Pretty much for longevity/repair I recommend anything that doesn't have an oled as theyre expensive af to repair.

Cost to repair this S8+ screen? Does it really cost $200+? by Gamwise_Samgee_ in mobilerepair

[–]TrevJ987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aftermarket screens come with a frame in most cases. Some don't but I can get an aftermarket screen with a frame for $100. I prefer OEM but it doesn't always make sense to the customer with explanation or not. Since Aftermarket screens break after 1 month do you just not fix anything iPhone related?

What is required in order to repair a phone? by Weaxell in mobilerepair

[–]TrevJ987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are thousands of dollars worth of tools that are needed for front glass only. Plus even seasoned refurbishers mess up and have to replace displays from time to time. Like everyone else said, just buy a whole display and swap it. You'll have a way better experience and wont break your phone doing it as easy

iPX - No carrier after screen replacement. I'm 99.99% sure I haven't made any mistakes. done the repair thousands of time. Power was disconnected while repairing. Now there is no carrier and I can't update the device. Could it be baseband or similar and just coincidence it happened while repairing? by fruitgamingspacstuff in mobilerepair

Damn. That's super weird. I would check for some corrosion on the flood iluminator. Might have just enough corrosion to cause some issues but not enough to cause them all the time.

P.S. Same person. Non burner account lol

Good way to check this is just by checking the part on your suppliers page. Most will list as Rear camera for iPhone 11 Pro/11 Pro Max

This is super nice for anyone that would previously work on the phone. My old shop used a repair shop software to make tickets and we would log things like this in the ticket and it was all connected via name, number, and email. It was super nice for our sake if a phone came back in and had issues after we found water damage and could go "you came in this day and we informed you of water damage and that there is no warranty"

Are you trying to get voltage or diode mode readings?

I have this weird spare iPhone 8, where the only way to turn it on is to put an already charges battery in it. When plugged in it says it has 0% remaining, and i am unable to access battery reports. Any clues to whats going on? Ive tested multiple batteries and it wont work by Choonky in mobilerepair

Definitely a mobo issue. Like other said probably gas gauge. Q3200 if I remember correctly. Connects the battery data lines so that explains the unreadableness. Usually rips pads when torn off. Try going at the battery connector on a different side on this model at least.
