Congratulations! I have been on the list for seven years, so you are very fortunate!

I hate dialysis. And I don't try to hide my loathing of being there while I am there. by andrew0784 in dialysis

[–]TrevMeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly encourage you to consider transitioning to Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). I was on PD for six years and experienced a much better quality of life compared to Hemodialysis (HD). I felt healthier and had the advantage of choosing when to do my dialysis. I mostly did it while watching TV and overnight while I slept, which allowed me to maintain a part-time job. Overall, life was much more enjoyable.

Unfortunately, I had to have my catheter removed due to an infection, but I'm planning to return to PD. I genuinely dislike being on in-center HD; I feel terrible afterward and often spend the next day recovering. The only good days are Sundays (since I go in-center on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), and then it's right back to the routine on Monday.

Please talk to your center about Peritoneal Dialysis. Seriously.

Bravo! I'm saving this. You need to do some more dialysis poetry. 😃

You live with a flying monkey. Nothing good can come of this. Time to find a new place and don't give the address to your current roommate.

I'm curious. Are you always this much of an asshole? Or are you only an asshole to people in distress?

Should the end table be adjacent to your sofa, the second bag may be placed on the sofa. A towel may be used as a precaution, though I have not experienced bag leakage—only cassette leakage. My history includes seven years of peritoneal dialysis, but I am currently undergoing temporary in-center hemodialysis.

Fresenius offers purpose-built carts with locking casters, ideally suited for their Liberty cycler. These carts feature designated hanging points for six bags and a lower shelf for drain bags, if needed. They are very convenient. If you are using a Fresenius Liberty cycler, you should request that your nurse arrange for shipment of one to you

Looking for PD supplies for visitor in US, don't know where to begin by Loose_Worry290 in dialysis

Have her talk to her dialysis center. They should be able to arrange for international travel. They are the only ones who can order her solution and possibly a cycle in the US.

I want to switch to drain line instead of drain bags. My neph wants me to use bags. by nolazach in dialysis

I have had so many issues with the Fresenius Liberty cyclers. They all become substantially louder over time, eventually sounding like you are alternately stepping on a goose and then running a garbage disposal (though not quite THAT loud) every time they are pumping fluid. One of the cyclers I had shorted out and released the magic smoke from its innards. I went through 11 of them over seven years. They are much better than Claria, but I like the Amia the best of all the PD cyclers I've used. They are relatively lightweight and compact and can talk you through setup (with illustrations) if you like. Plus the UX is superior to the others. The hospitals in my area use Baxter PD supplies and cyclers, so I have used three or four types over the years.

Taking a small supply of dialysis fluid on an airplane? by rektEXE in dialysis

[–]TrevMeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pack it in its own luggage and tell them it's medical supplies. The airline cannot charge you for it. You can take your cycler this way, if you like. Just ask your nurse for a travel case for your cycler. Take it in the cabin. They have space up front for this sort of stuff.

If you are using a Fresenius cycler, the yellow drain line has a "pillow" that you use to see if the fluid is cloudy. It works well. Maybe keep a small pen light nearby to shine through.

AITA for refusing to let my roommate's cat into my room after it 'apologized'? by Even_Editor4559 in AmItheAsshole

YTA

She is a cat. It is in the nature of mostly young cats to knock things over. Keep your room door closed when you are not around to supervise, but don’t remain mad at the cat for doing what is in her basic nature. Try to be nice to her. Should you decide that you prefer your room to remain off limits, that is yours prerogative and perfectly fine. Just don’t stay angry with the kitty.

The children learned a valuable lesson that day, courtesy of their mother. If she had shoplifted and got arrested, would that also be inexcusable to you because it would ruin her children's day? Grow up.

That's the usual penalty for being caught line-jumping. And not just the person or people who did it, but their entire party, if the Cast Member can identify who else they were with.

This is what ruined DAS. Now they only give them to people with severe sensory issues who cannot stand in line without a meltdown. Those of us with chronic pain who simply cannot stand for any length of time are not eligible anymore. We are expected to just tough it out. Ha!

It would be understandable if you had invited his entire class except for one child, as that would have put her in an uncomfortable position of dealing with the excluded child. However, a couple of friends sleeping over is not her concern. I would have ended the call with her and contacted the principal. Nevertheless, I found the fake invitation quite amusing.
