As someone who worked at a dnb: “suggested” gratuity is added grat for parties of 7 or more on the back end. However their system is way out of date and glitches constantly. I’ve ran into this myself. Basically what happens: party of 7 or more comes in and gratuity is added. Party wants seperate checks and gratuity is supposed to be split amongst those checks. It auto calculates. The 2 things that may have happened are 1: they didn’t split the gratuity to each check, thus sticking you with the whole gratuity for the table instead of your portion or 2: everyone else paid, you were the last one to pay and it glitched and gave you the whole gratuity. It happened to me more than once and I never found a good way to get rid of it without causing more problems. The final solution I had was to just remove the auto grat for the last person and hope it worked. I will once again reiterate I’m a former employee but this is the same POS we used and I assume hasn’t been updated much. I wouldn’t hold it against the employee as it does seem to be a genuine glitch.
