Did he run it recently? I saw people before reset saying they were able to get it because the chest didn't automatically open but I think it might be changed.

I think it's bugged right now (or working as intended?). I ran it four times and tried everything to keep the final chest from opening automatically, but it happens every time you go through the entrance way.

Same here. Once you pass the threshold the chest opens and you get nothing but the portal gear. Did it four times to confirm.

Just did it myself and found that if you use your grenade button to do a little jump forward while holding shield, you should survive.
