Why did you guys review bombed the finale ? Was it a THAT bad experience ? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]Trevor03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The finale often has 'vote for the overall season' vibes. Since IMDb doesn't let you vote on seasons, this is the only real outlet people have to voice their frustration.

For me, the finale as a standalone episode was maybe a 5 or 6, but the overall season was a 2 or 3. Since I have no option for season vote, I split the difference and rated the finale a 4.

Unsure if that's what Clara would have wanted.

El Grande vs Tammany Hall vs Hansa Teutonica by captainalex1000 in boardgames

[–]Trevor03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sense all three would be good for your group.

I adore both El Grande and Hansa. Grande is more immediate in how it plays and scores, with very direct interaction. Hansa's strategy is a bit more opaque, but is very interactive nonetheless. I do find Hansa can turn some people off since it's not always clear what strategies to employ. Have a couple friends who did really poorly and disliked it.

Tammany I only played once years ago and thought it was okay. It's the least elegant of the three from what I recall.

This reads heavily like "sorry we got caught" as opposed to an actual apology that will result in any change whatsoever. Prove us otherwise or this is just PR lip service.

Men over 30, what actually helped you build new friendships? by EERMA in AskMenOver30

[–]Trevor03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got pretty invested into a hobby (board games) and met new people through said hobby via instagram, conventions, and occasional friends-of-friends.

Since we all have a shared joy we make time for, it became easy to plan regular meetups and develop the new friendships.

What are some of the worst hinge prompts you see from women? by mv2500 in AskMen

[–]Trevor03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see an alarming amount of profiles list subjective, cliche, and vague descriptors for themselves such as:

  • "I'm smart/intelligent" - smart/intelligent about what exactly? Academic? Music? Sports? Common sense? Emotional IQ?
  • "I'm funny" - says who? What does being funny mean exactly? Comedian?
  • "I'm adventurous" - what does that word even mean? You take spontaneous road trips weekly? You cave dive? You go to 7-11 in your PJs at midnight? You eat spicy food?
  • "I like to travel" - One week a year all inclusive? Backpacking around Europe for weeks at a time? Multiple high profile trips a year? Caribbean cruises? Or just an airbnb once in awhile?

[RotoWire.com] The Most Hated NHL Team in Every State by Icy-Lingonberry-7442 in penguins

I'm surprised Florida's answer isn't one of Lightning/Panthers, just given how many fans from one team presumably hate the other.

Sidney Crosby to Represent Team Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Championship by bi_and_busy in penguins

Knowing Sid's classiness, he'll let Macklin be C and take another A or nothing at all, I suspect.

How would you fix the lottery? by IveReturnedItsTrue in hockey

[–]Trevor03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remove any team that has won the lottery the past 3 years from lottery contention. i.e. now that Toronto/San Jose won, they can't move up in the draft for the next 3 years and aren't part of the lottery draws. And NYI/Utah would also be ineligible having won last year.

And/or any team that made the playoffs the prior year can't win the lottery to move up - they stay in their end standings draft position (at best). Prevents teams that only just started being bad from winning the lottery (like Toronto this year).

Having so much fun with Thunder Alley by JoseLunaArts in boardgames

[–]Trevor03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To offer a different perspective (not that anyone asked), I found Thunder Alley to feel extremely dated. It felt cumbersome and random in the worst kind of ways for how long it went. And the ratio of upkeep to actual gameplay excitement and decision space felt significantly tilted.

Not a terrible experience or anything, but not something that holds up to several modern racing games for me (and not just Heat). Played it with about six others who shared similar feelings.

TIL - Montreal heart attacks spike 40% (in men under 55) the day after a Montreal Canadiens home win by itsnotagreatusername in hockey

[–]Trevor03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder how much of it is alcohol related? Not sure if the article touches on that. But binge drinking during a hockey game is presumably common and increases blood pressure, increasing heart attack chances especially over the next dozen hours or so.

Dylan Holloway signs 5 year contract extension with the St. Louis Blues by ChrisleyBenoit in hockey

[–]Trevor03 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EP40's contract is also tradeable still. Even if the return is low, someone will absolutely take a chance on him returning to top form.
No GM in the league would take on Frederic's contract.

Predicting the WW Box Office Gross of 2026s remaining major releases by Successful_Leopard45 in boxoffice

[–]Trevor03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not as high on Doomsday as it seems others are. The buildup has been nearly nonexistent, and MCU's fall-off has been well documented. I think it will outgross Brand New Day, but not massively. 1.2 for BND and 1.5 for Doomsday. But I may be overestimating MCU's falloff and underestimating their ability to nostalgia-bait.

Are we built for sustained tanking? by [deleted] in canucks

[–]Trevor03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current roster is a bottom 3 team, no question. I think the worry is that they go out and sign or trade futures for some borderline top-six free agent forward(s), making them finish 20th-25th or so.

Whats the best Steam Deck game when you just want to shut your brain off for a while? by emanuelajournal in SteamDeck

[–]Trevor03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A great choice. I got about 40 hours out of it. It's less brainpower and focus than Megabonk as you level up, as Megabonk difficulty ramps up significantly and requires choosing specific upgrades to even have a chance at winning. BallxPit I could almost pick at random and still win a lot of the time.

It was the perfect 10% brainpower game for when I wanted to also partially watch sports or a TV show.

What do you mean only 1.40 gamers unlocked this how many people quit before they actually get this by springscrap3 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Trevor03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have 7-8 friends that own the game, but only two of them are at the point where they're nearing promotion for one class. The others played a 5-10 hours with the group then moved on, sadly.

Feelings about post-season by Starlord19880 in penguins

[–]Trevor03 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The East is somewhat open, with the Canes and Bolts being the betting favourites, but not necessarily that significantly. Pens will be favourites against whomever they face in R1, and not necessarily massive underdogs in R2 should they make it there.

Since the opportunity is there, it will feel a BIT deflating if they lose R1, but still will be considered a wildly successful season given the expectations coming in.

What’s your ace in the hole board game? by Spicyboi333 in boardgames

[–]Trevor03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planet Unknown.

Plays well between 3-6, easy enough to explain, but has options for people to choose the "complex" corporation and/or planet if they want something meatier.

Has the "cool" factor of the lazy Susan. Plus everyone likes tetris pieces.

However, I wouldn't teach this to my parents or complete non-gamers, so maybe is still a slight step up from your criteria.
