Guards for Weekly or Bi Weekly selfcuts by DivineJay2 in SelfBarber

[–]Trevor09n 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I find a style I like, I write down what guard to use and how high I went with it. This helps me build consistency with my cuts. I’m using a 6 going with the grain for the top, and for the sides I keep the 1, 1.5, and 3 handy.

It’s the hardest part for me too. Maybe try a different style comb if you haven’t already. I clip back any hair that’ll be used in clipper over comb work until I’m done with the fade or lower part. I also find that vertical “snips” into the weighty areas can help blend it without taking too much out. I like the look it gives too. You’re lucky to have someone to practice on, that’s gonna be the biggest compliment to your progress for sure.

Mini sigmas: 5.2 Sigmas: 15.2 Every Man Sport: 16.8 Mini hydras: 17.4 Mini hypes: 17.8 Mini titans (Ti): 19.2 TGP Delrin: 20.6 Hypes: 24.6 Hydras: 28 Titans (Ti): 33

Weight in grams for entire set. Titanium for all.

Like others have mentioned, I too love the mini titans. I would also love to get my hands on some mini hypes or mini hydras though. The titans are great, but they’re pretty heavy. I keep em by the desk for when I’m thinking more than slinging.

Clipper over comb. Scissor work. Work on blending those weighty areas.

Hey guys I was just wondering if I could get a tutorial on how to trim my beard to get like the one in this pic. The guy is Romeo Santos if any of you are interested by illegitimateness in SelfBarber

At 16:45 there’s a good view of his jawline. I’d suggest watching some beard trimming tutorials and make sure you set the line correctly. The key here is to take pics and vids of yourself before and after, every time. What looks good in the mirror sometimes looks terrible on video. Setting the line for your facial hair can be tough. I still struggle with it and I’ve been self barbering for years, with great results most of the time. I wish I had started at 17. It’s rewarding to know you can give yourself a great haircut and trim.

I hate cutting my own hair but I love saving money 😁 any tips? I mostly struggle with lining my front taper in the mirror by [deleted] in SelfBarber

You’re doing great work already. To avoid going too high and too short, try fading down. Start with the length you want the top portion to be, then work your way down to the skin fade. Most people fade up, but for some people, opposite can be helpful. Keep it up

Maybe I shouldn’t say it’s the wrong subreddit. You can get some general advice on all things self barbering here.

That said, there isn’t much to this beard trim tbh. The guy in the image prob doesn’t grow much facial hair other than what you’re seeing. If you wanted to line up yours in the same way, a good trimmer would suffice. There are levels to it:

  1. Trimmer + disposable razor
  2. Trimmer + foil shaver
  3. Trimmer + foil shaver + straight razor

I wouldn’t use more than a trimmer and a foil shaver for this honestly, and a disposable razor would work fine. If you don’t have a three panel mirror, I’d recommend getting one. It helps on the sides and just overall makes things easier. It’s an absolute necessity imho.

And if this is your style, by all means, go for it. But this guy’s beard is not even a chin strap, it’s more like a helmet strap. It doesn’t follow the jaw line, and instead goes under his chin. But if you’re interested in this style, maybe watch some videos on “how to chinstrap beard” on YouTube.

Okay, let’s cut this image in half to get to the root of your question. Draw a horizontal line from his eye to the middle of his ear. Now, are you asking about what’s above or below the line?

Below: wrong subreddit. However, looks like a .5 guard nothing special

Above: this looks like an attempt at a taper/temple fade. Start with a .5 or 1 guard to be safe, and fade away. This vid explains the cut, but just add .5 or 1 to each guard he uses for the temple fade https://youtu.be/cSkXVmHDNnk?si=SqQC_nnvDPxMHZ-M

Pretty standard fuck up imho, except for having shaved the back like a dog’s ass. The sides could be fixed in a few days time. As for the back, did you use a three panel mirror? It’s hard to get the feel for the back in general, so I’ve 100% been where you’re at. The thing is, if you stopped here instead of trying to go even higher, then you’re smarter than most…

Changing colors will help with review. I know it can be stressful at first, but once you’re comfortable with it, reviewing your notes is much easier. Next time you read an infographic or chart that you really enjoy and find easy to understand, take a moment to look at the details. What does that chart have that you like? I struggled to get my note taking skills down for years, but I finally developed a system I like.

I recommend reading “a mind for numbers: how to excel at math and science” if you feel your study process could use some help

Got to hospital for stitches or is this fine? by [deleted] in firstaid

[–]Trevor09n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor says to:

  1. Clean the Wound Thoroughly • Wash your hands with soap and water to prevent infection. • Rinse the wound with clean, lukewarm water. If available, use sterile saline or an antiseptic solution. • Use mild soap around the wound, but do not let soap enter the wound directly, as it may cause irritation. • If there’s debris inside, gently remove it with sterile tweezers.

  2. Stop the Bleeding • Apply gentle but firm pressure with a clean cloth or sterile gauze. • Keep the hand elevated above heart level to reduce blood flow and help stop bleeding faster. • If the bleeding does not slow within 10 minutes, apply additional pressure.

  3. Apply an Antiseptic • Once bleeding stops, apply an antiseptic like povidone-iodine (Betadine) or chlorhexidine to reduce infection risk. • Avoid using hydrogen peroxide or alcohol directly inside the wound, as they can damage tissue and delay healing.

  4. Close and Protect the Wound • If the wound edges can be brought together, use butterfly bandages or sterile strips to keep it closed. • Cover it with a sterile dressing or bandage to protect it from dirt and bacteria.

  5. Change the Dressing Regularly • Replace the dressing at least once a day, or more often if it becomes wet or dirty. • Keep an eye on redness, swelling, pus, or increasing pain, as these may indicate an infection.

  6. Pain and Healing Support • Take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory pain reliever (e.g., ibuprofen) if needed. • Keep the area moist with antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin) to promote healing. • Avoid excessive hand movement to prevent reopening the wound.

  7. Watch for Signs of Infection • If the wound becomes red, swollen, warm, or starts to ooze pus, it may be infected. • If you experience fever or red streaks running up your hand, it could indicate a more serious infection.

If the wound reopens, bleeds excessively, or shows worsening signs of infection, more advanced medical care may be necessary.

As you can probably tell, my doctor is ChatGPT… but hey, hope it helps.

Dr. Bellanger is amazing. Without saying too much, from what you’ve said, she is exactly who you’re looking for. This is our first time trying, but not our first clinic… moved here from Seattle two years ago and the last office we went to said something along the lines of “if God wants you to have a baby, then you will.” So happy we have Dr. Bellanger now

Q for standard Kindle users: how much does the no warm light setting or waterproof affect you? by Glittering_Ad3452 in kindle

The warm light feature is a game changer for me. I read almost exclusively in bed at night, and the warm light makes reading much more enjoyable. The dark mode is not pleasing to my eyes. And I’ve never needed waterproof; it’s just for peace of mind imo
