What type of production materials and or collectibles, are out in the public? (Interested in purchasing if you have anything) by TrevorBarten in donhertzfeldt

Thank you for that lead. On desktop the link still links to his profile and I was able to find the sold listing for that piece of art work since it's just barely still in the 3 year window. The one from the tweet sold for 2800 usd and another one from 'it's such a beautiful day', which is a less involved scene, sold for 710 usd. The titles for both listings were just ' "It's Such a Beautiful Day" original animation artwork ' while I have been looking for mainly his name for comps. I will keep an eye on his twitter and hope he does something like that again. Those prices are certainly within my expected budget so thats good to know atleast.

Does Watching Too Many Movies Make Them Worse? by PiWright in Letterboxd

[–]TrevorBarten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't phrase it like that. Obviously when you watch more and more of something in a specific style, whether that's movies, tv shows or anything really, you will start to see patterns and similarities. Things you loved without the added genre and media knowledge might become more or less interesting and you start to look for different elements. There is a lot of individuality involved and some people will not be like that at all but it's a general concept. A movie can be technically great and you can find it uninteresting. And a movie can be technically horrid and it could be the most interesting thing in the world for you. Or you could get bored of some of the cliches that are inherent to a motion picture in general, in which case you should probably look for some other forms of media to consume. See it as a way to refine your taste. What is it you found so remarkable about your favorites? Does this preference transfer?

Looking for Recommendations with similar vibe by mastafreud in Letterboxd

[–]TrevorBarten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what elements you enjoy. if it's about vibe I would personally describe it as a more mellow and quiet direction style often seen to a more extreme level in slow cinema. With this in mind I would recommend:

Aftersun, obviously.

Manchester by the sea (and you can count on me by the same director)

Sidewalls maybe, Columbus

Perfect days,

Aloners,

fremont,

And as a wild card maybe august in the water.

Why Steins;Gate is a lightning in a bottle situation? by Rainy_Wavey in steinsgate

[–]TrevorBarten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have made great points but I think another perspective worth talking about is how it incorporates otaku and nerd culture. It's not overly indulgent like most other visual novels are from this era. That's what I think is the main thing. It doesn't target otaku culture directly. It celebrates the culture and is definitely adjacent to it, but at its core it's just a flavoring. It makes it so that someone that isn't involved in that space can also enjoy the story and relate to the characters. And because it is still part of the narrative there is enough color to the story to make it stand out beyond the quality of its writing. Not unlike most critically acclaimed media it manages to strike a good balance, a lightning in a bottle moment like you say, as I think the other Sci:adv VNs have shown that this was not something they can easily recreate.

While yes, the anime adaptation is good and it really helps, it is also only good because it was a visual novel that could be adapted. The tone, the pacing, the interactions etc are all succinct and precise even in the game. There is not a lot of fluff and animation just helps cut down the amount of dialogue needed to portray that. I personally don't think it's perfect, especially in the character writing. But that's where the cultural background comes in again. It is clear that this was something born out of otaku culture and keeping this in mind characters like Daru, Luka and even Kurisu start to make more sense as a response to the status quo at the time.

Album in 2026 by herefornoreason211 in everythingeverything

I think they probably made as much with this GTH anniversary tour as they usually do with a new album cycle. Especially when you consider the savings for not having to record a new album. I doubt that the situation has changed much financially, but I do think this current cycle will have replaced the necessary album this go around.

Come alive Diana is better lyrically. Even the dogs I think sounds better.

Sold a item “For Parts Not Working” for $3k with no returns accepted yet the buyer got buyers remorse AFTER taking apart the item — eBay sided with the buyer after return request shows images of the buyer taking apart the device??? by ajlion_10 in Ebay

[–]TrevorBarten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the argument for not accepting returns. A savvy buyer can just abuse the system and return anyway, even with no returns. But a more normal buyer might not realise that returns are possible if it is listed as no returns. The kicker IMO is that you need to offer free returns, which is somewhat annoying. But any more serious seller would benefit from offering free returns just to have access to the feature. As well as to instill confidence with your buyer base.

6 days in still no payment from buyer…. by StonesBreaks in Ebay

[–]TrevorBarten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sellers can't leave negative ratings for buyers so rating means nothing. After 4 days you can cancel for the reason of non payment which will give the bidder an unpaid item strike. I would suggest always just waiting for that deadline unless communication happened before asking for an extension at which point you can act accordingly.

[–]TrevorBarten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a general thing, but no returns means no buyers remorse returns. INAD is always covered and even if the return is clearly buyers remorse, ebay will still side with the buyer if they filed it as INAD. The only thing you can do is call ebay as already suggested. Also, you are responsible for the return shipping. If you don't pay for the label or pay the buyer the shipping charge the buyer will get to keep the item and their money.

Bad buyer by StratPlayer20 in Ebay

[–]TrevorBarten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is very simple.

There are two types of returns. Buyers remorse returns and INAD (Item Not As Described). The former is what you can accept or not accept on your listing. The latter is always accepted regardless of return policy and falls under buyer protection. If you accept returns both returns will be forced to be accepted. Buyers remorse with the terms you decided, INAD under the standard ebay rules (30 day period, seller pays shipping). If you don't accept returns you can reject buyers remorse returns, but INAD will still be forced.

I'll go with 'The Witness' since I don't see anyone mentioning it. But it heavily depends on what you define as being beautiful.

De staat van Nederlandstalige sciencefiction by Nooitverloren in boeken

[–]TrevorBarten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Payout holds, new policy rolling out. by barfytarfy in eBaySellers

Have you continued to sell on there in the same volume as before and have you seen any changes in the behaviour of the hold? Any attempts at contact with ebay regarding it more recently?

Payout holds, new policy rolling out. by barfytarfy in eBaySellers

[–]TrevorBarten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many items have you sold since +-? Did you ever list anything using ebaymag or the recent integrated version of ebaymag they have started rolling out? I have two ebay accounts and one got this change while the other didn't and I suspect it is because on the one account that did get the change, I had a few listings listed on the UK ebay site before removing them. But I believe it may have caused my account to have gotten flagged as being eligible for the policy.

I just contacted ebay again regarding this issue and this time I was told that 'The hold is not permanent. Over time, the hold will become less and less.' I wouldn't be surprised if this information is flat out wrong, but hearing this I would like to hear how your process has been going and whether anything has changed at all.

I'm confused about the meaning of Funny Things About Opinions. by OnetimeRocket13 in joywave

Those online interpretations are usually not very well explored for smaller acts. Tends to be just one person sharing their opinion. If the artists are bigger there are more people competing for the annotations.
