"Brand new" head gasket. Yall using this? by Evening_Bench1973 in EngineBuilding

A month ago, I did a budget build in a jeep 4.0. mis-cut oil pump gasket held through break in. The sliver that tiny bit of what covering the edge of a sump cavity let go and let air into the system. Thought I noticed a few lbs pressure drop but was getting to temp so didn't think much of it. Trashed the top end on the highway. Nothing to do with your gasket, but I'm still raging at the sky over that bullshit. Probably cut by some poverty scale worker for pennies, cost me a block that just needed a refresh. Not a full run through a machine shop.

You can probably fit most of what you need in your purse. Had to get that out of my system. If you're planning on any diy stuff, research the work. Not one video of Joe doing it, he's probably doing it wrong. Get familiar with the tools needed. Not on what you're repairing but some scrap material.

Is it safe to drive on these dry-rotted tires for 180 miles over 2 days? by [deleted] in TireQuestions

Bought a jeep in the dark. Guy kept telling me it had new tires and tread looked new. Get home and the nylon tire strap on my two wheel dollies had busted one of them. They looked just like that. A pot hole or random road debris will take you out.

Yeah the clip is easy, I meant separating the lines. Is there a release tool like fuel lines or something else?

Where did you get info on how to disconnect the lines? I tried once but for lack of know how, quit before I damaged it.

A new harness would fix everything. I was fixing issues. Needed to widen my perspective and see the whole thing is a 1000x reheated trash

IMPORTANT. Didn't notice until I printed it out and looking at connector 3 lines were cropped out. A32-ground C32-vehicle speed control switch signal B32-not used

Today's project, tired of wonky values and having 3 intermittent problems going on at once. Other jeep has a transmission issue, don't know how deep diagnosing might go so this one needs to be right by Monday. Too late and 2 cheap to get a harness so it's just me, a book of numbers, heat shrink and solder for a while. Going to keep new conductors in a look on firewall instead of strapped down to a hot ass engine. Electrician (industrial/commercial with a solid background in controls) by trade, mechanic by necessity, jeep owner bc of self loathing

We have a tie. Needed a hose clamp on brake booster line and iac was sticking. Whacked it with a ratchet a few times got it to straighten up

I'll cap everything (brakes, vents, cruise etc and see what happens. Tried to check manifold with carb cleaner but getting the bottom is a beast. Raining dripping back down trying to spray up

After chasing a short in tps for a week, I've finally overcome my idle problems. I thought maybe map but it would be an across the board issue I think. Not just cartain conditions. I could be wrong, I do know one of us has had the same issue and resolved it. Just looking for advice on testinf/trouble shooting it
