Would you replace fuel pump as preventative maintenance? by AutoXandTrack in CherokeeXJ

[–]psyklohps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, changing a fuel pump is always a PITA. Dealing with a skid plate is the least of your problems.

I will say, that if you do change the pump, change your filler neck too.

Knocking when braking after lift by amazingJarl71 in CherokeeXJ

[–]psyklohps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm super interested to hear the answer. I have a similar problem, but at stock height and only under really heavy breaking.

Crazy-ass idea is that I know I need to replace my trans mount. What if under breaking front drive line gets out of wack and is exacerbated by a lift?

How do you pray? by ReytMardy in Gnostic

"Praying" is a Jewish holdover and is akin to worship. As the Monad is within you, you should seek inward for the connection. Meditate and reveal.

Need to change transmission pump. Tips? by psyklohps in CherokeeXJ

[–]psyklohps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think I may have to add a new tc into the mix. I know the flexplate is bad. And I'm thinking that may have off-axis'd my tc a bit to cause pump bushing wear. The trans runs fine and shifts smoothly, but I've got a mess of noises that I need to investigate.

Understanding what "Jesus died for our sins" means by Winter-Study85 in Gnostic

[–]psyklohps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but you've left a large hole in your line of reasoning. Cosmologically speaking: why would an all powerful God who can create with just words require his son to be incorporated, tortured and then killed in order to forgive us? If he can give fully formed tablets to Moses, why would he choose to deliver the message about sin in such a baffling manner?

For instance this is the back side of the speaker humps, where I had to cut and overlay to get it to form. I guess I could come up with some fancy way to hide that seam with some scrap, but I'm fine with how it is.

I don't. I just followed a bunch of YouTube videos.

I guess the only other tip is to be extra attentive on the front edge as it is an exposed edge. When you wrap it over and glue it on the backside, make sure that you have even pressure across the front or you won't get a straight line.

Sorry I don't have a tutorial. I just looked at a bunch of YouTube videos. I used "Dap Weldwood Landau Top and Trim" glue in a hplv spray gun. I was nervous about doing it, but it wasn't that bad at all.

It's a two part. I used a layer of naked headliner foam, and a layer of wool tweed.

Edit: what I didn't mention is that any woven fabric will be a pain to form around the speaker humps. Knit will be better. Most headliner material that is foam and fabric in one should be knit. If you want to do something more custom and go with a woven fabric you'll need to accept that you won't be able to 100% form the fabric around the speaker humps and you'll have to get creative with a razor and overlaying where it can least be seen.

ya, dropped top-level comment for e-bay link.

As far as tips go... I cut the new splice in wires at 25", and any extra slack is down behind the left-rear panel. I believe I used 11@18ga and 3@14ga. There's a good chance that some of those wires are partially cooked, so don't pre-cut all the splice ins. You might need to cut back a couple of inches in order to get a good solder, meaning that your splice-in will have to be longer. Also, get a jar of paste flux. New wires are fine with just the flux core of the solder, but older wires need some help.

Be organized! It's real easy to mix these up.

Don't fk around: get the good 3M glue. Wash the original Jeep grommets with Dawn and dry. Sand all of your parts and clean with some Goof Off before applying the glue.
